The moment the door slammed shut, I dropped my forehead against it. Thud. A long breath escaped my lips.

My heart was pounding so hard that it felt painful. For a few seconds, I simply stood there, trying to process everything that had happened. Then my eyes slowly drifted toward the hallway.
