Chapter 4: The Marketplace 1

Joseph came to the castle in the early morning to talk to the king about his and Jessie's agreement. While walking in the hallway with a maid who was leading him to the guest receiving room, he was constructing the words he would use to please the king and let Jessie go to the marketplace.

Shit... I'm getting nervous

He said to himself, what if the king gets angry because I would take the princess to the marketplace? He kept saying to himself, while Joseph was getting agitated, the princess was still lying on her bed sleeping.

Dear princess... wake up, Sir Joseph is already here.

Just a little longer Erika

But the queen also said to wake you up... come on princess, wake up, the queen will be angry at us again

fine... I'm awake

Jessie got up in her bed and went straight to the bathroom. She soaked herself in the soaped water, then played with the babble, while Erika alone scrubbed Jessie's back.

Erika?... you said Joseph was here, right?

Yes... why? Are you going to meet him? Do you like him now, princess?

Wha- no!

After saying that she submerged her face in the water while her ears were red and warm from what Erika had just asked her, but come to think of it, Jessie knows the reason Joseph is in the palace, it is to ask her father if he could take her to the marketplace. He kept his words of helping her get into the village.

Joseph arrived in the living room and was standing in front of the door, hesitating to open it. While he stood in front of the door, he kept on thinking about the what ifs he had been thinking earlier, but then he remembered those eyes of Jessie, the eyes he knew to himself he could not resist ever since she showed them to him. With a deep breath, he opened the door and greeted whoever was behind the door. When he got in, the king was already waiting on the coach.

Greetings my lord

So Joseph.... tell me why do you want to talk to me?

Joseph hesitated to answer the question as he felt his palm getting soaked in sweat. He knew the king was strict especially to his daughters and could kill anyone who hurt's the princesses. He looked at the king's face who was looking at him with a smile, the kings appearance was good today, he does not look grumpy like the maid was gossiping on the hallway.

your highness I-

When he was just about to speak, they were startled when the door bang loudly. The princess stood at the doorway looking like she had just run a thousand miles. She was catching her breath while she look at Joseph who was sitting and looking at her with a confused face.

Papa…I want to go to the marketplace with Joseph.

Jessie said while fixing her dress, Erika also stood next to her sweating like crazy, also catching her breath, she looked at Jessie shocked from what she just said, because they were just talking about Joseph a while ago and Jessie kept on denying she likes him, and now Jessie want to go out with the man she kept on denying.

The king looked at Joseph then faced him with an angry look.

Is this why you are here? Joseph?

Yes, your highness.... i was going to ask if i could bring Jessie with me when i patrol through the marketplace.

No.

But father i really want to g-

Shut up Jessie, you are not getting out of this palace until you are 18

But your highness, I will keep her safe.

I know your rules papa but i really want to learn about our village.

Then go ask your maids.

Ohh come on papa... just this once i promise to stick next to Joseph.

The king looked at Joseph in the eyes like he was threatening him so he would leave and not bring Jessie along with him. Joseph did not flinch an inch when the king looked at him, but instead he looked at the princess who was about to cry. The king then saw a look on Joseph's face that he wanted to see on the faces of all the suitors of the princess. Joseph then looked at the king back then stands up.

Your highness, i am a man of my word and i promise to keep the princess safe while she is with me, and i vouch my soul in serving his highness so i will not put your princess in such danger.

The word's Joseph said touched Jessie's heart, and that time she realized, she was already falling for him.

Please your highness let the princess come with me

The king smiled at Joseph, then stood up. The king put his hand on Joseph's shoulder.

Alright then… take care of my daughter while you are out.

Joseph and Jessie looked at each other excited about what the king had just said. The king gave permission to Joseph to take out his beloved daughter. Jessie jumped in excitement and, without hesitation, he hugged Joseph on the shoulder while both of them laughed. The king saw Jessie smiling like she did before her grandmother passed away. He knew his daughter had found someone to be who she really is again.

We're going to the marketplace Erika. I can not believe it. Ohh, thank you, Joseph, you kept your words. I can see the village now!

The princess said while being so excited, she then ran straight to her room and packed some of the things she wanted to bring. A note pad and a quill pen with ink already inserted into it, Joseph watched her be excited while smiling at how cute she is.

The afternoon arrived and they had to set up for the travel,

while in the way, jessie couldn't resist looking at the beautiful view's from the outside of their carriage, this is the first timw she got out of the palace so she was very excited about this trip, she does not even care about joseph anymore. She has forgotten that she is with joseph inside of one carriage while her and his maids and guards are riding a horse.

Joseph on the other hand is looking at jessie who was not looking at him at all since they got out of the palace's gate, he groaned a little so jessie would notice him but it didn't work, so he kept on doing it louder and louder everytime but jessie still did not care, she was busy looking at the trees and rivers outside their carriage than to notice some groan from joseph.

When joseph lost his patience, he shouted Jessie's name loud enough for the maid outside could hear.

JESSIE!!

What? can't you see i am busy here?

You're just looking outside what are busy for?

I'm busy looking outside

Jeseph sigh in frustration, he wants to talk to someone because the travel from the palace is far from the marketplace.

It is getting pretty boring you know your majesty, can you talk to me? i want someone to talk too

Look outside if you're getting bored, the views are perfect

There's nothing more to see ther for me

Ehh not my problem then

Joseph can't do anything but to accept the boredom enter his body so he just sighed and looked at the carriage window just like jessie said.
