Caden experienced a strange feeling that threatened to destroy his tranquility. Deep inside he knew that kissing Sia would get him in trouble. A kiss meant nothing, it didn't have to be romantic, it didn't have to bind them together in any permanent way. It was just a kiss. She kissed him with the intention of reassuring him in his outburst of unwarranted and dramatic fury. He felt ... well, he didn't really know how to feel about it. She had invaded his personal space, she did not ask his permission to touch him, to kiss him. She took from him not sure what would happen next. After listening to her he considered leaving the room and making the rounds, perhaps disciplining a few unruly wolves from the pack, however he wanted to try something different. Something told him that Sia hadn't kissed many men, most likely Gideon would have been the only one. So Caden forced himself to lower his excitement at having her so close. A kiss from her was like a drug. A drug that Caden wanted to indulge in over and over until he became unhinged by the high. But that was not possible. He had other kind of obligations.
Caden found himself in front of the door of the most dangerous room in the whole house. A cold sweat crystallized on his skin before entering. A million needles were embedded under his hard-immortal flesh and with great regret he was forced to open the door for he had felt her call. The Countess's room was the most luxurious of all in the house. Works of art hung on the walls; others still remained stored in a container in the basement. Crystal chandeliers swung over his head slightly as he walked with confident steps to the walk-in closet where he found The Countess lounging on a red velvet sofa wearing nothing but her underwear. He hated finding her like this, not because her body wasn't beautiful but because of what would follow next.
“What’s bothering you, my love.” She purred. Gods, he hated that endearment with all his might. “Talk to me.”
He sighed unsure of how to address this. "Their minds are connected, just as you predicted."
She stood up and floated to where he was standing. She pressed the length of her body against his and kissed his throat. He swallowed hard. "Did she dream of him?" He nodded closing his eyes. Soon her slender hands were exploring his taut back, urging him against her. He hated this. He hated having to submit to her being the Alpha. And just as he expected, she commanded him to undress and revere her using his lips, his hands and eventually his entire body. He did not exist at the time. He had become used to detaching the soul from his body and floating to another place away from her. Today, as she kissed and caressed him under the covers, Caden imagined being somewhere else. Caden returned to the memory of Sia's lips pressed against his and he experienced nirvana. The Countess could read his thoughts if he was not careful, however it was during these moments that the pleasure she experienced from using him was more powerful than her intention to prod into Caden's head. After she felt satisfied and content, she asked Caden to prepare a bath for her. More than grateful to get away from her he obeyed her. "What kind of dream did our little witch have?" He heard her say in a low voice.
Caden returned to the room forcing a smile onto his face. "I don't know, she didn't tell me."
"How was she going to tell you while your tongue was stuck in her throat?" He must have expected this from her. No way would she grant him a moment of privacy even when he asked her to. "Don't worry, puppy. I'm not upset. In fact, it would be more prudent for her to start experiencing feelings for you." Huh? "It wouldn't be bad if she loved you and eventually gave herself completely up to you"
Caden had no words. His voice had evaporated and all that was left of him was a body with mixed ideas and feelings. Had she gone crazy? For what reason would she want Sia to love him? "I do not get it." He choked out. "Do you want Sia to fall in love with ... me?" The idea was not repellent to him. The fact that this was an idea of hers was killing him. Wasn't it enough for her to use him almost daily?
"That’s right." she said simply with a giggle.
“But... why?!”
"We need her to be on our side and trust us fully to be able to use her to kill Gideon."
For the first time in so long he found himself completely refusing her… the idea of using Sia. In betraying the trust of a girl who had already been deceived so long ago. History would repeat itself. Another wolf would love her, she would love him, and everything would be for what? To carry out a plan full of hatred and revenge. Was hurting Sia like this worth it?
"Make no mistake about it, puppy." she said with a sneer, "she can love you to the point of going crazy for the passion of having you however you can't- you must not love her because if you do I will kill every one of the wolves in this house, starting with Silver."
“You wouldn’t dare.” He gasped. “Not after all the trouble you went through to bring us here.”
“I would.” It was the vehemence in her voice that held him in check. She was capable of such cruelty and he never saw it coming. "You take care of making her fall in love and I'll take care of working on the plan to destroy Gideon. It’s almost done." Caden didn't hesitate to curse her in his mind, to direct all his hatred toward her. She smiled sweetly as if she didn't care. "I've changed my mind; I don't want a bath. Come back to bed, I'm not done with you yet."
