ONE KISS

"What do you mean you saw Gideon?" Caden hissed under his breath as he turned to look at Sia with a look full of disdain. It made sense that he was so confused. Sia was confused, even more than he was. She hadn't been sure it was a dream or a kind of vision. Gideon and Sia had somehow connected and met there. We took a little leap into the past and we both returned to the place where we first met. "Explain why because I don't understand anything." he insisted, unrelenting, refusing to take no for an answer. After Sia's little revelation to the two males - who incidentally hated Gideon with all their hearts - they had gone into a catatonic state. They both had stopped breathing, their eyes clouded and Sia could swear that they would transform right there.

Caden was the first to react and wasted no time in taking Sia into his strong arms. She threatened to turn him into a toad if he didn't put her down, but he didn't listen and ran into the house tackling a few wolves, who appeared to be dismayed at their Alpha's behavior. He opened the door to her bedroom by throwing himself at it with his shoulder. Then he laid Sia roughly on the bed. The angry wolf practically threw her into the air and let her land on either side. "What is on your mind?! Have you gone crazy?!" She yelled at him furiously. More than angry. If she really wanted to, she would turn him into a stupid toad.

“Answer me!” He growled menacingly.

Sia felt fear at that moment. Not because she was afraid of him or that he might hurt her, she knew that he would never do anything to injure her. She was frightened to realize the energy emanating from Caden was dangerous. Lethal. Without a doubt he was the Alpha. Unquestionably he was the strongest. He was the most powerful. Caden was filled with a fire that burned dangerously. "First of all," she rolled off the bed and slowly approached him, raising her hands in front of her to soothe him, "I need you to calm down a bit. I know you're confused but it's not what you think."

“What am I thinking Sia?”

“You tell me.” She whispered. “What is going through that heated head of yours?”

Caden was panting hard now. Sia needed him to calm down or they couldn't talk. She didn't know what it was that got hold of her at that moment. The only thing that occurred to her was to wrap her arms around his neck and steal a kiss from Caden's lips. There was an awkward pause. They remained frozen in time meeting each other's eyes as their lips were pressed tightly. What have I done? she internally whimpered in remorse as she had made such a bad decision. What was she doing kissing Caden? How was it possible that she was so naive in thinking that it would work? On the one hand, he no longer seemed angry, on the other hand he was now experiencing a thousand different emotions, and none seemed to be anger. Slowly she pulled away from him and took a step back. Sia cleared her throat and looked away, pretending to take interest in the pillow lying on the floor. "Sorry."

“You and I both.” He said dryly.

"Oh." What else could she say? She no longer dared to look at Caden in the eye as the shame ate her inside. Sia's insides lurched awfully. Beneath her feet an imaginary fissure began to slowly expand and soon an abyss took shape. "It won't happen again, I promise."

“Of course,” he cleared his throat in an attempt to ease things out for them both, or so she thought. “Now, explain.”

“I was dreaming…”

He groaned exasperated. “You saw his stupid ass in a dream? Why didn’t you say so? You let me make all this drama for nothing.” Her? It wasn’t her fault he has overreacted. It was his fault entirely for not being patient with her. Instead, he treated her as if she were a rag doll. Tossing her around as if she were nothing. An object.

"I saw him in my dream, yes. It wasn't a dream as such, however. The Gideon in my dream was from this era. He looked different from the Gideon I knew five hundred years ago, Caden." his eyes narrowed, the shadow of something passed in front of his face. It was something so fleeting that she couldn't figure out what it was about. "Somehow, our minds connected, and we could see each other. It was so strange," She was breathing heavily now, unable to stand for another second, she collapsed on the ground. There was still that abyss under her, the fear of falling did not go away. "I don't know how ... but it happened. I didn't want to believe it - that he was still alive."

“And what do you think it means?”

"I don't know," Sia felt Caden's hands on her face. Two fingers landed under her chin and coaxing her gaze up. "Hello ..." she sighed as the abyss seemed to open even more.

“Up with you now.” He gave her a shy little smile, a tad boyish it seemed to her and helped her to her feet. Caden was now in the abyss with her. "I have to inform the Countess. She will want to know."

“You do that.” She sighed.

Caden coaxed her face up once more and what she saw in his eyes caught her off guard. There was a heat in those eyes of his that consumed everything in this room. There was an intensity about the way he was regarding her. Sia’s lids lowered in invitation and he took the bait. His head bent enough to brush his lips delicately against her own. He’s asking for permission. Funny thing when she hadn’t done that a few minutes ago. She took and demanded. He wanted to make sure she would be alright with it and the truth… she was alright, more than alright. She welcomed the imminent kiss so badly Sia was about to steal it once more from his mouth however she decided to wait. Patiently. Honorably. The kiss was so sudden, so shocking. So powerful and tender at the same time. And while he drank her in, she savored him. She clung onto him with her hands, with her lips letting out tiny little moans of something she could only label as joy. She knew he could sense how needy she was, for she felt that way. Needy for affection. Needy for the closeness. Needy for something she could be able to touch, shape and care for.

In a sudden movement, Caden broke their kiss. “Next time you want to calm me down, I suggest you kiss me like that.”
