Miki glanced to her left, the open door of the yakiniku restaurant, the call of the radio from within, its sound punctuated by a knife hitting a chopping board, a boy standing outside the door with a cigarette in his mouth, smiling wanly, dressed in a stained T-shirt that bore the logo for a company called Calohan Family Donuts.
