Chapter 5Ash had made sure that he was locked away in his room by the time that Jack returned from his date with Miriam. He spent the following days avoiding Jack, not wanting to know how things had gone. On Friday, however, Jack finally cornered him at breakfast.
“Hey cuz,” Jack sneered. “You’re not going to ask me how my date with Miriam went on Tuesday?”
“No,” Ash replied, trying to keep his voice even. “I’m focusing on our date tomorrow.”
“Yeah, well good luck with that. Although I have to warn you, it’s a little too late. Miriam already agreed to come out to the ranch and meet the pack.”
