Chapter 6

POV Miracle

We sped back onto the highway with three black SUVs following us. “How are we going to lose them? I can’t outrun them.” Ronny asked. Andre pulled his phone out “We need help, we are being followed by Ezra and his warriors.” Andre said into the phone. “We are on highway 1-55, there are 3 following us, and we are about thirty minutes out still”. “Alright, I will call you back when we are five miles from exit 210,” Andre said before he ended the call. “Everyone stay calm, Ron just try to stay ahead of them, don’t let them get up to the sides of us or pass us.” “They won’t try to attack while we are in a vehicle, Ezra won’t let any harm come to Mira,” Andre said.

We drove in silence; everyone was on edge. We didn’t know what to expect, or why Ezra was chasing us. Did he really want to hurt me? I wanted to know why he smelt so good, and why all my anxiety and fears left me when I was in his presence. Andre told me to wait for him to explain this to me, which started to make my blood boil. I wanted answers and I wanted them now. “Andre tell me now, why does he smell that way, why do my feelings change with him around?” I growled. Andre looked back at me, “I will tell you, but you must calm down or you will start to shift again”, Andre responded. Sam put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close to him, “Take some deep breaths Mira, I am here for you”, Sam said. I could feel Sam’s fear, I was scaring my friends. I didn’t know how to control my emotions, I felt out of control more than normal. I closed my eyes and took some deep breaths, leaning into Sam. I could feel the tears starting to fall down my face, I just wanted to go back to my normal life. I didn’t want to feel this way.

“He is your mate, his father is an enemy to your mother,” Andre said as he was looking out the window. “They are chasing us, to kidnap you and take you back to his father, he has to follow his father’s command.” I was so conflicted with the information Andre gave me. I have a mate, but he was under orders to kidnap me, because of some feud between our parents. This can’t be happening. What kind of world was I just thrust into? Everything that I knew about mates, I wouldn’t be able to experience. I was so consumed with grief for the man I hadn’t even met. I felt like a part of me was dying inside. I had to choose between my mother, who I longed to know for so long, or the man that I was destined to love.

“Does he know that I am his mate?” I asked Andre. Andre cleared his throat before he answered me, “Yes, he knows that is why he is stalling, I believe. They could have easily overpowered us at that rest area.” Maybe there was hope, if he didn’t want to hurt me, maybe our future wasn’t lost. We drove for another ten minutes before Ronny pulled off the highway and under an overpass as Andre had instructed him. There must have been at least ten other vehicles full of my mother’s warriors waiting for us. “Grab all of your belongings, we are switching vehicles, we must be quick.” We quickly did as Andre instructed us to, and all piled into the back of a white SUV. The driver was a woman, with long blond hair and ice-blue eyes, she was beautiful. “Hi, my name is Jen, and I will be at your service your Majesty,” she said to me with a chuckle.

Before we were able to leave, Ezra and his warriors pulled up. They were outnumbered, there was no way they would be able to get to me with all these warriors around. They sat in their vehicles, just watching us for about ten minutes. Then he got out of his vehicle and put his hands up as if he was surrendering. What was he doing? We weren’t chasing him or after him. “I just want to talk to her, I will not harm her, or try to take her,” my mate said. Andre growled and looked at me, “This is a trick to get you out of the car Mira, stay here.” “There will be a time and a place when you can speak with him, but I advise against it, till after you meet your mother”. I nodded to Andre, I wasn’t ready for all of this, and not under those circumstances. Andre got out of the vehicle with a few others and walked up to my mate. My mate’s warriors joined him, all standing in a fighting stance.

I buried my head into Sam’s shoulder. I didn’t want to watch them fight. Then I heard Jen start the vehicle. “Buckle up, if this goes down, I have orders to get you out of here safely,” Jen said to us. “What about Andre?” I asked. “Don’t worry he will meet up with us, he is the best warrior that your mother has” she said. Then I heard a loud howl, it was Andre. What was he doing? All the warriors, with my mate, were on their knees submitting to Andre, except for my mate. “Fair enough, you have your orders too, we will let her be for now. But you will not keep my mate away from me for long, Andre. I promise you that, even if it means over your dead body” my mate said. My mate and his warriors returned to their vehicles and left.

I was in shock, Andre just made all the other wolves submit with just a howl. He avoided a fight, but why did his howl make them submit?
