POV Miracle
We made it to the hotel without any more issues with Ezra and his warriors. Andre dismissed most of the warriors with instructions to stay close if they were needed. Jen stayed with us. I knew she was a wolf, but she was something else too. She smelled like a bonfire with roses, a very odd smell. I was glad that she had stayed, it would be nice to have another female around. Sam and Andre checked us in. They were able to get a few more rooms on the same floor for the warriors that stayed with us. Sam, Ronny, and I shared a room. Andre and the other warriors had the rooms surrounding ours.
Andre had instructed everyone to get freshened up and meet in the hotel restaurant in an hour. Once inside our room, I was able to let Pumpkin out of her carrier to stretch her legs. I felt like my head was spinning, I couldn’t catch my breath. I just sat on the bed, and closed my eyes, trying to clear my head. “Mira, we only have an hour to be downstairs, go ahead and freshen up first so we all have time,” Sam said. I peered up at him, couldn’t he just give me a few minutes? “Uggg, fine,” I said as I got up and grabbed my bag, and made my way into the bathroom.
I looked in the mirror at myself. My eyes seemed a little lighter than normal. I had stress bags under my eyes, this was all so much, I hadn’t even processed it all yet. As I stood there staring at myself, all I could think about was Ezra. He was beautiful, not cute, or handsome, but beautiful. I didn’t look like a woman that would be his mate, I was a plain jane. But he is the one that is meant to be my other half. I splashed some cold water on my face and brushed my teeth, before changing into some more comfortable clothes.
Sam and Ronny were eagerly waiting when I emerged from the bathroom. Sam beelined into the bathroom. I guess I had taken longer than they anticipated, but I got lost in my own thoughts. Ronny patted the couch next to him, offering me to sit. I sat next to Ronny and let out a long sigh. “I know this is all a lot Mira, just know that we are here for you, and if we need to take a step back for you to process everything, we will,” he said as he pulled me into a side hug. “Thanks, I don’t know how to feel or think right now” I admitted to him.
When Sam came out of the bathroom in his truckstop outfit, both Ronny and I burst out laughing. I thought the first outfit was horrible, but this one was worse. Sam was wearing camouflaged pants with a white t-shirt that had some sort of flower bouquet on it. Maybe he was trying to dress ridiculously to make me laugh. He could have pulled something else off than flowers and camouflage. The colors didn’t even match. I was grateful for the laugh though; it helped take my mind off all the stress. Ronny squeezed my knee before he retreated into the bathroom, giving me a little reassurance that everything was going to work out.
“We only have fifteen more minutes till we need to meet them downstairs,” Sam announced. While Ronny was in the bathroom getting ready, I got pumpkin some food, and water set out. She was sprawled out on the floor in front of the air conditioner. I gave her a few belly rubs, we needed to get to my mother soon. I couldn’t keep her cooped up in that carrier for many more days of traveling.
Once Ronny opened the door to the bathroom, Sam clapped his hands loudly, pulling me out of my thoughts. “Time to go, kids,” he said. Sam had too much energy, this was not a situation to be all chipper in. I grabbed the key card to our room, as we made it to the door of our hotel room. “Listen, we are all on this crazy ride together, let’s make the best of it. Everything will work out, let’s just not let the stress get to us and tear us apart”, Ronny said. I smiled, looking up at Ronny, what would I do without these two jerks right now? Sam grabbed both Ronny and me and we all hugged. “Let’s do this”, Sam said, and opened the door.
When we arrived at the restaurant, everyone was already seated and waiting for us. As we made our way to the table, I noticed all the remaining warriors were bowing their heads and showing me their necks. I had not noticed them doing this earlier. I nodded my head to them, and took a seat, with Ronny and Sam on each side of me. I let out a little chuckle thinking that I was royalty in their eyes, but in the world I came from, I was nobody. I haven’t felt like I was someone special that stood out from the crowd since I was five years old. It was kind of nice to feel this way.
The waitress came and took our order, and every one of the warriors ordered a variety of red meat. It was amusing watching the expression on the waitress’s face when she questioned Jen about ordering two large steaks. “What, you don’t think I can’t put down just as much as these men do?” she asked the waitress. “My apologies Miss, I just know how filling the steaks can be” the waitress replied. “And add a piece of chocolate cake onto that too,” Jen told the waitress with a wide grin. Jen had confidence; I could only wish to be more like her. She noticed me watching her and shot me a wink. I was going to like having her around.
Everyone made idle chit-chat while we waited for our food to arrive. The waitress had two others help her as she dished all the food out on the table full of living breathing werewolves. All of them were staring at me like they were waiting for my command. Andre cleared his throat “They cannot eat without their Alpha giving the command”. “There is Alpha?” I asked Andre. “That is, you, you are all of their Alpha, they are your warriors, not your mothers now.” I blinked a few times trying to process what he just said. “Eat, eat, please” I instructed them. They all nodded and started eating their food. I looked back at Andre, and he just smiled. I had my own warriors, my personal bodyguards.
“It is late Mira, do you want to still have me explain everything to you tonight?” Andre asked. “No, let’s talk in the morning, I am sure everyone is exhausted,” I replied. We all made our way back to the rooms and planned to meet in Andre’s room at seven AM.
