Chapter 8

POV Miracle Once we were back in our hotel room, my thoughts were all over the place. There was no way that I would be able to sleep. Even Pumpkin cuddling with me had no calming effects. Ronny was working on his laptop, jotting down everything that we had learned so far about this supernatural world. Sam was texting on his phone, and from the look on his face, it must have been a potential love interest. He was always so giddy when he had eyes on another man. I decided a shower might be the only thing that could relax me. As I stood under the hot water, everything that had happened in the last few days was playing through my mind. Is this why I never felt like I fit in with my family or their high-class friends? What would become of my life once I turned 18, and shifted? I could understand that my parents didn’t know my exact birth date, but how did they choose the day of my birth? I had so many questions. Would Andre be able to answer them all? How would I tell my parents? I stood in the shower until it ran ice cold, so many questions running through my mind. I could hear Sam and Ronny talking but couldn’t quite make out what they were saying. I turned off the water and went out to dry myself off. I looked in the mirror after I had dressed, my eyes were still slightly lighter than the normal chestnut color. I felt Pumpkin brushing up against my leg and breaking contact with the mirror. As I was brushing my teeth, I heard a soft knock on the door, “You OK in there Mira?” Sam asked. As I finished brushing my teeth, I opened the door and nodded to Sam. “Mira, you should try to rest, it is getting late, and we need to be up early,” Sam said with that stern fatherly look. I didn’t want to argue, I was exhausted. Pumpkin and I crawled under the cover of one of the beds. Ronny sat next to me on the bed leaning against the headboard, working on his computer. I looked up at Ronny, “We need to create a chart of everything that we know of Lycans and werewolves”. Ronny’s eyes twinkled, he loved making charts and timelines. Overall, he loved to be organized with all facts. “Already started on it, I will show you in the morning, get some rest,” he said. Ronny and I choose Folklore history in our senior year to get some easy credits for history. I never thought I would use any of the information in life though. We learned that Lycans were the first wolf-human hybrid. Lycans were created by a witch that was scorned by her lover, who left her to marry the queen for power. The witch had two children with her lover: twins, a boy, and a girl. I couldn’t remember the names, but I was sure that Ronny did. The witch turned her children into Lycans, to destroy the queen and their father. Or at least that was her plan, but the children were not capable of killing their father or the queen. So, she shunned them and cursed them to immortality before she took her own life. I slowly started to drift off to sleep, as Sam and Ronny were working on a timeline. The next thing I knew, I was walking in a forest. Following the sound of the sweetest voice that I had ever heard humming a tune. Where was it coming from? Every time I thought I was getting closer to it; the direction would change. “Hello, who is there?” I yelled out, hoping they would stop making me walk in circles following the voice. There was no response, so I stopped following the voice and stood to take in my surroundings. The forest looked like it was straight out of a creepy ghost story. With fog rising from the ground, and trees with no leaves. Sounds from the wildlife fill the air. I had on a long, elegant nightgown, something that I would never wear. The humming was getting closer, I felt so intoxicated by it. Then he emerged from behind a tree, it was Ezra, my mate. I wanted to run to him and throw my arms around him. My body and mind were fighting. He was dangerous, he wanted to kidnap me, and let his father do who knows what to me. I didn’t know if I should stay or start running. The humming was gone. My anxiety had returned, I felt so hurt by him, and I didn’t even know him yet. “I won’t hurt you; I just want a chance to talk,” he said. “How did you kidnap me, how are we here, and why did you change my clothes,” I asked him. He gave me that smile, with his beautiful dimples. I couldn’t even run from him if I tried. “I haven't kidnapped you, yet. This is our safe place, a dreamscape, that only we will share” he told me. “Dreamscape?” I asked. “Yes, I forgot, you know nothing of our world. A dreamscape I can create anytime both of us are in REM sleep. I lured you here, I wouldn’t have been able to if you or your wolf wasn’t willing” he said with a smile. He was acting smug now, I wasn’t even thinking of seeing him when I fell asleep. “Well, I didn’t know what a dreamscape is, so that is a lie,” I said. Ezra chuckled, “Maybe your wolf is seeking her mate. I know mine is, he won’t shut up,” he said. He motioned for us to sit at a table that I hadn’t seen till now. I followed Ezra and sat across from him at the table that had candles and a bottle of wine chilling in a bucket. I watched him as he poured us both a glass. He had some type of tribal tattoos on his neck and arms that I could see. “Have you met her yet? She is spunky” he asked. “Met who?” I asked. “Your wolf” he responded. I hadn’t even thought about the fact that I would have a wolf. I know what I have read in stories, of them being inside your head talking. But I hadn’t heard anyone talking in my head besides myself. Did I have a wolf? I still didn’t know anything about my biological father. I may not be part of Lycan, all I knew so far was who my birth mother was. Ezra studied my face, trying to figure out the information he just gave me. “They don’t always show themselves to you before your shift, it’s OK if you do not know her yet,” he said. It still made me sad that he knew of her before she would show herself to me. Ezra cleared his throat to bring me out of my thoughts and lifted his glass for a toast. “To us my beautiful mate, may we fix the supernatural world, may our love flourish,” he said. “You want to fix the supernatural world?” I asked. “I am on your side, Miracle, I am only under orders to kidnap you, so you won’t succeed” he admitted. Well, this changed a lot of how I saw him. “If I wanted to kidnap you, I already would have. Trust me, your warriors are no match for me” he said. Well, isn’t he cocky, thinking he would be able to take on all of my warriors? I was hearing an echo in my head of Sam's voice. I couldn't quite make out what he was saying though. It was making my head hurt. I closed my eyes to try to block it out. Ezra noticed my reaction, he grabbed my hands and held them in his. "Please do not tell any others of us meeting here, this is our safe place. If they know, they will block you from entering," Ezra said. He was touching my hands and I could feel the heat from his body, his heartbeat. My body started to tingle all over, then the butterflies in my stomach started. This feeling was so intense, I didn't know what to say. I just stared into Ezra's beautiful eyes, I didn't want to leave him.
