Derrick had visited the two closest pack and there wasn't any luck. He decided to let all packs keep a ball with all of the females of age to find their mate. This way his journey will be shorter and he'll have time to spend with his dad. His relationship with Rayn is a bit rocky but it's getting better than it was a few days ago. Rayn first resurfaced to tell Derrick his mate is nowhere here at the first ball they visited. Rayn told Derrick that he wasn't expecting him to be so selfish and have not even considered his feelings in the matter.

Rayn reminded Derrick that he had promised to find their mate. But when Derrick didn't even think twice about accepting a chosen mate made him realized that his human didn't care about his feelings the way he thought. Rayn mentioned that they were one and have to live with whatever decision they each made. Rayn also told him that if his dad died they'll still both have to live with the decision of marrying a chosen mate and rejecting their true mate within the first moment of meeting her. He told Derrick the pain of rejection is one like no other and doesn't heal as quickly as other pain. He also mentioned that children by chosen mate doesn't inherit all abilities and they get a weaker wolf that children of true mates. Chosen mate children are naturally weaker.

Derrick felt the pain from Rayn when they had that conversation and silently promised to put his all into finding their mate.

"these expensive dresses are a girl's dream come true" Maya laughed. "You will look absolutely stunning in all, you look even better when I undress you" Kyle smirked mesmerizing on the private after party they both had after the first two balls. "You are ridiculous" Maya said throwing a pillow at him. Kyle pretended to fall out the bed from being hit by the pillow. "see you are ridiculous and I love every part of you" Maya said jumping on her mate.

"I'm concerned about Derrick, do you think he got disappointed?" Maya asked while Kyle was positioning her on his chest. "disappointed, he was elated, Derrick don't like the wolves in those packs much he believes their abilities are weak ha" Kyle laughed. Remembering how Derrick had sat him down once and spoke about every pack in the wolf kingdom. Derrick studied each pack and their abilities and rated them although those pack was the closest to them they were at the bottom of the list. He also remembered Derrick saying to him before going to one of the balls that he hoped the moon goddess didn't hate him so much.

"Are you ready for you trip, son" Luna Marie said "yes I have over one hundred suits to travel with, I hope the other packs could throw a party, how is dad doing?" Derrick asked. They finally figured out what was wrong with his dad. He was being poisoned with all different types of wolf bane they figured it was in his food. That is one plant that they cannot get the scent of. Now they are trying to figure out who exactly was poisoning his dad. Since they stopped the cooks from preparing their meals his dad has been doing better. There still isn't an antidote because of the amount in his system. He's still dying but at a slower pace.

"all set and ready to go let's go enjoy life a little guys." Derrick said while hoping in the car. Seeing his dad condition improved gave him a little hope.

After a long ride they finally reached to the next pack Sacred River. What a weird name Maya thought. The name originated from the river in the middle of the pack. It is believed that bathing in the river can wash away evil and bad luck.

"I should've brought dad along" Derrick laughed Maya was actually happy to see him laugh. His demeanor has changed over last few weeks he's been more serious and always worrying about something. He's also been very down since Rayn decided to hide himself.

"she is gorgeous" Derrick said looking at Tellia. Tellia is the last daughter of Alpha Sam and Luna Talia of the Sacred River Pack. "Alpha Derrick it is a pleasure to have you here. I hope we have what or should I say who you're looking for." Tellia said looking up at the fine guy in front of her. "He's so dreamy, let's f**k him" her wolf said "you're a horny thing aren't you, anyway he's here to find his mate and the fact that you didn't say mate neither did his wolf mean we don't even stand a chance" Tellia responded.

"You're having a private conversation with your self aren't you?" Derrick asked knowingly "yes we are and she just wants to yum all of you up, so do I but we all know why you're here so we won't interfere" Tellia smiled. "bold, I like that you're also beautiful but I'm not here for pleasure." Derrick said looking at the beauty in front him she is tempting but he can't. "you're definitely here for pleasure just not with me, if you find your mate y'all will spend the night together and f**k not play chess Derrick" Tellia said laughing. Derrick couldn't believe how forward she was. She's beautiful, bold and have a sense of humor he liked that.

Tellia carried the group to the guest room, there are multiple beds there so the team didn't have to split.
