Thankfully they were allowed a whole week off of school which their families required them to stay home. Some might think they’ve been contacting one another during their ‘rest’ week, unfortunately for the trio their families had an agreement to take their gadgets away from them for the meantime. It was mostly the Agent’s suggestion, fearing that they would somehow come up with another brilliant idea to get themselves in danger once again. The last thing everyone wants is for their injuries to add up while their current ones are still fresh. So for the whole week the three were unable to get in touch with each other.
As the dreadful week passed by, the three were getting better. By Sunday Styx was able to walk properly but of course there was still constant monitoring and a scheduled x-ray appointment. Daexoen’s broken arm however was still not free from the cast. Sage’s Shoulder was also slowly healing. In their delight, the three were allowed to finally go to school on Monday as well as getting their phones and gadgets back.
Except from their healing state they also found out that Ivan or the suspect for Hillary’s murder was also part of the infamous serial killing. The coroners found five aligned dots on the suspect’s ankle. They were still stuck in the case. There were no leads, no evidence left by the killer. It was once again another dead end.
Monday afternoon, the main cafeteria was buzzing with students. And one can guess why the nearly empty and pitiful hall for the past week turned into a crowded space full of gossiping students. The trio was back and everyone wanted to catch a glimpse at the three’s situation.
“So you knew all this time” Daexoen told Sage when she finally arrived at their table.
“Why didn’t you tell us Sage?” Styx said, both boys looking at the female intently.
They were now seated in the main cafeteria. The two boys were still clearly upset about the newly discovered information a week ago. Because of the lack of communication between them now was the best time to confront the youngest. Honestly, they felt betrayed and hurt that the youngest never told them. They felt like they couldn’t be trusted.
She gave them a confused look, "What do you mean?" She asked as she tilted her head trying to understand the sudden emotions the two males in front of her had.
The two sighed, depressingly putting down their food, "Why didn't you tell us about someone watching us" Styx answered.
"Oh, I never knew I had to" she casually said before biting on the burger she was having.
The two males examine the female for a few seconds, "Sage, we're upset" Daexoen confessed.
Sage halted at the sudden confession. She didn't expect his sudden burst of feelings. To be honest, she didn't understand why they felt like that but she looked at them with concerned eyes.
"Why? I don't understand." she mumbled innocently.
"We're upset because you didn't tell us. Sage, we're sad because you kept a secret from us" Styx further explained.
Her eyebrows slumped, creating wrinkles on her forehead, "Because I didn't tell you? Is that why?" She tried her best to understand the situation.
The two nodded, "Yes, we're friends right?" Daexoen asked, earning a nod from the youngest. "Then you shouldn't hide things from your friends. Especially these kinds of things. We're involved in a dangerous case and you keeping something like this hurts us." he added.
“How will it hurt you?” the youngest continued to ask.
“We feel like you can’t trust us. It hurts our feelings because we feel like you don’t care” Styx now answered.
Enlightened with the situation the youngest slowly lowered her head in guilt, "I see. I'm sorry. I didn't know you'd feel that way. I didn't think it was important to tell you" she apologized.
The two smiled at the youngest’s reflection, "Next time, Don't hide these things from us, okay?" Styx assured her.
"Alright. I'll try" she agreed before continuing to eat her lunch.
The two looked at each other before giving a deep sigh. Although they were still upset they tried to understand the youngest's side. She wasn't someone to dwell in the thoughts of others, she didn't understand the importance of trusting each other. But she was willing to understand them, and them not doing the same for her would have been hypocritical. The bright side to this was her improvement on her feelings. The two couldn’t help but smile at the female’s self-improvement.
"Now, do you mind telling us why you never mentioned it?" Styx opened the conversation after finishing their lunch.
“I didn’t say anything because I thought it was just a coincidence. I didn’t really see someone just shadows that’s why I never told you” she tried to reason out.
“Was that the reason why you were contemplating at the café during the third victim? You saw a shadow?” Daexoen suddenly interjects.
She nodded, “Yes, there was a shadow by the door, I was contemplating about saying anything but when I noticed no one was there by the entrance I decided to risk it.”
“Now that you’ve mentioned it, I saw someone pass by when we were in the hotel, I just didn’t take it seriously 'cause I thought it would have been a guest or something” Styx suddenly recalled.
“Okay, so someone is following us. But the question is, who?” Daexoen asked them
“It—“
Before Sage could finish she was immediately cut off when a female student suddenly approached them. Sage recognized the female as one of her classmates.
"Sage, Ms. Jennica is looking for you. She's at the Student council office." She shyly told her.
“Huh? Why?” she asked, confused at the sudden announcement.
The female shrugged, "I don't know, maybe for our camping?"
“But why me?” However seeing as the latter was already in an awkward state she decided to drop the question. “Never mind, I’ll go, thanks” she mumbled before getting up from her chair.
With time to spare before lunch ended, the two college students decided to accompany the youngest to the council office. Although they were out of danger you could never be too careful, especially with their current situation.
As they walked through the halls Styx initiated the conversation, "Right! The camping trip will be on Friday. I'm going, how about you Daex?" he asked.
The other nodded, “Yeah, I was about to go to Mr. Dennis after this actually” Daexoen answered.
The female looked at them confusingly, “Why? I heard it was just the graduating High School students, why are you two going?” Sage interjected.
“I’m part of the social studies club, apparently we need to join,” Styx answered.
The two looked at him in disbelief,“You’re a computer science student but you’re in the social studies club?” Sage question.
"What's wrong with that? Just cause I'm into computers doesn't mean I can't like other classes" Styx defended.
“What’s your excuse?” she motioned to Daexoen.
The other shrugged“They said it was part of me being a new student so I need to join this activity” He sighed.
He didn't want to go at first. It was tiring not to mention a waste of time. He was simply required to attend, but after hearing that he wasn't actually alone for this he was a bit relieved. Unfortunately, because of all the drama that happened two weeks ago and them not being able to attend classes the week after, Daexoen was unable to mingle with his peers and fellow classmates. Sadly, except for these two he didn't know anyone on the campus. However, he wasn't the only one feeling relieved, the other two also felt a feeling of contentment knowing all three of them would be together.
When they entered the room, they were instantly greeted by the council president along with the other council members. They gave each of them a small smile before turning towards the teacher who called Sage. She was sitting on her table which had a name plate labeled ‘council adviser’.
The teacher raised her head noticing a new presence near her, “Ms. Enigmeria" She greeted her, but then raised an eyebrow "I don’t remember calling for the two of you” Ms. Jennica said as she pointed towards the two gentlemen.
“We just accompanied her,” Daexoen answered.
“Well, aren’t the princes too protective of their princess” one of the members jokes.
The two looked back at them with an irritated look, "What?” Styx irritably asked.
“Why did you look for me?” Sage asked her teacher, trying to divert the attention of the students.
“I wanted you to tell your classmates about the camping trip. We’ll be leaving on Friday and be back by Sunday.” The teacher said,
“And why me?” She asked, tilting her head with confusion.
“Because I also need to give you this consent form" She continued, handing the female student a piece of paper. "Even though you already had permission before, but because of the recent incidents I still need your guardian as well as your doctor’s consent that you’re able to attend the trip. So, since I’m already going to talk to you might as well have you, tell your classmates. Oh, I heard the two of you were going as well” she asked the other two, who gave her a light nod after.
Sage gave a quick sigh for the teacher’s laziness. She knew she was tasked to do it so that her teacher won’t waste her time so in exchange she decided to waste Sage’s. What a typical teacher.
“Is that all?” She asked
“Yes, you can leave now." She told her before standing up as well. "Margaux, I’ll be going to the principal’s office” said the teacher before leaving the room.
Before the three could leave they were then held back by the president.“Uh, guys."
Like Sage she also had a lot of bandages around her arms, some on her cheeks and warped around her head. Her uniform had a weird bump that they assumed to be the bandage that was wrapped around her torso where she was stabbed. She looked terrible compared to the other three but she looked much better than when they found her.
“I still haven’t personally given my thanks to the three of you for saving me. If it wasn’t for the three of you then I wouldn’t be here. I would also like to apologize on behalf of my sister for the trouble she caused” She said before giving the three a slight bow.
“It was your friend,” Sage said, causing the other to raise her head in confusion. "She was persistent. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't have tried." She added.
“Kylie?” She asked earning a nod from the three
“I wasn’t going to help, but she insisted. She really cares about you. You’re lucky” Sage replied.
Subtle tears were seen from her eyes, “Yes. I truly am” The president answered with a huge smile on her face.
“And you don’t need to apologize,” Daexoen said.
“Yeah, that case was a nightmare to solve but it was fun” Styx answered, to which Daexoen replied with a laugh.
“Right? It was the most I’ve ever been confused of” He added,
“It was interesting,” Sage muttered, giving them a small smile.
The other students looked at them both with awe and confusion. They thought it was strange for them to enjoy such a case, they even got hurt but they just laughed it off. But at the same time they admired the three for their wits. They admire the braveness and intelligence the trio have and how they handle it was truly amazing.
Someone cleared his throat, catching everyone's attention. “Margx, what about introducing us” A member of the council said.
“Oh, right. Guys meet the student council. The school’s PIO is Keios, Fenice our Auditor, Trex our Treasurer and the guy with the glasses over there is our Vice president, Than” Margaux said while pointing to the students in the room. Each of them greeted the trio except for their vice president who was seated by the far corner silently typing on his laptop.
“Than is a bit antisocial,” Fenice said.
“I’m --”
“We know who you three are,” Keios intervened before Styx could finish his sentence.
The members nodded with enthusiasm, “Of course we heard about you three, especially when you saved Margaux. We also saw Sage and Daexoen’s previous videos. You were awesome” Trex said
“Uh… Thanks?” Daexoen reluctantly answered, unsure how to address them.
“How did you join them?” Fenice asked Styx who was standing next to her.
“Oh, I’m Daexoen’s childhood friend, they needed my help with things so I’m here” Styx casually answered.
As they continued to talk, the council room's door suddenly opened. “Hey sorry I’m late…" The man on the door said, slowly lowering his voice as he noticed there were other students in the room. However, one student caught his attention the most. "Sage?”
