The stranger quietly walked up to Sage’s bed, head still lowered down. Everybody in the room was shocked to see her suddenly kneel down, rambling incoherent words of apology and thanks.
“What-” Daexoen was cut off by the woman, trying to explain her sudden gesture.
She held onto Sage's hand, “I’m sorry for what happened to you. I’m sorry for what she did, but I’m also grateful. Thank you. Thank you so much for saving my daughter. Thank you, if it wasn’t for you, Margaux would have been- Been gone. But it also can’t excuse the trouble her twin did.” She cried out.
The three then understood who she was. She was the mother of the twins.
She looked terrible, you could definitely see the dark undereye bags hanging from her eyes, her hair was messy as well and her cheeks were tear-stained.
Daexoen cleared his throat, “You must be their mother. What happened? I mean, why was she like that?” he asked.
Hyuna helped the other to stand before encouraging her to speak, “Margaux and her twin, Dianx. As you saw, their twins. Identical but also very different. Their taste in fashion, likes and dislikes, and even personalities. Margaux has always been the outgoing and bubbly twin while Dianx was always quiet and shy around other people." She said, trying her best to shield a sob. "Dainx studied in the US before, she was alright there but she was still a bit antisocial compared to her sister. She attended Cram school one day and met a teacher there. He was kind, charming and she loved him. We thought it was just a figurative way of love but we were wrong.” Their mother started.
“She was truly in love with him,” Daexoen concluded, which earned a nod from the woman.
“She found out that the teacher was getting married. She was furious, she went on a rampage. We sent her here for the time being to let her move on from the teacher and it worked for a short while. Actually we thought it really worked. Dainx and Margaux although they were different they both got along so when she went back here she forgot about him for a while. But when school started she must have seen Margaux’s teacher and I guess her obsession came back after seeing him” She confessed before passing them a photograph.
“That's the teacher she liked back in the US,” she said.
“No wonder she was so obsessed over him,” Daexoen said when he saw the picture before passing it over to Styx.
The picture was of Dianx and a man much similar to the features of Sir Myers. Except for the eye color and hair, the two teachers could pass as twins themselves. Seeing a man that looked like her past love interest triggered her obsession once again.
"So that's it." Sage quietly said, "She has Obsessive Love disorder as well as psychopathic disorder" Sage murmured.
The mother of the twins looked at her bewildered, “What?” she asked.
“Oh, You think? I mean, two disorders?” Styx asked.
The female shrugged, “Maybe. Her symptoms add up ” She said
Daexoen thought about the disorders the female mentioned, “Obsessive Love disorder with Psychopathic disorder? Isn’t that a terrible combination” he jokes.
The four adults looked at each other confused, “What’s Obsessive Love disorder?” Agent Kleio asked.
“Obsessive Love disorder is a mental illness where a person is obsessed by a person he/she thinks she loves. They are usually characterized as overly protective people, they are also very controlling." She explained to the agent before turning towards the mother of the twins. "But you see Sir Myers did not have the same feelings for your daughter but her twin. Making her more enraged by the thought that a person who looked exactly like her was the one he loves. Causing her to gain psychopathic disorder making her do all those things without a care. But like I said, I’m not sure. It’s best if you should have her mentally checked." Sage tried to explain.
"She needs to be treated. I'm sorry to say this but she needs to be placed in a psychiatric facility" Daexoen sympathized with the woman.
“She needs mental health. But just for your assurance we’re not angry. We’re happy to have helped” Styx added.
The mother broke down crying after understanding the trio's words. She didn’t want to admit it to herself but they were right. Her daughter needs help. Sage’s aunt tried to comfort her, while the two agents just looked at her with sympathy. She was mentally ill, they couldn’t do anything more than to send her to a psychiatric facility.
Daexoen saw the look the youngest gave at the two women, “Sage, are you curious about something?” He asked, causing Styx to look at the youngest as well.
she nods at him, “Why is she crying? Shouldn’t she be happy she knows what’s wrong with her daughter?” She asked the two.
The two guys looked at each other before Daexoen slowly got up to sit by the youngest's bed, while Styx just sat up on his bed to look at the younger.
“You see Sage, sometimes the truth can hurt us. Sometimes, we don’t want to accept the truth” Styx explained.
She tilts her head in confusion, “Why not? Shouldn’t it be better than to expect a lie? Isn’t it more painful to know a lie than hear the truth?” She asked again.
Daexoen and Styx exchanged looks, “But sometimes the truth isn’t always beautiful. She’s sad because she knows her daughter is sick. That she needs mental help, as a mother I guess it isn’t the nicest truth to be told.” Daexoen tried to explain as best as he could
“So, it’s like when you’re sad if I get hurt?” She innocently asked, remembering what the two said the day of the accident.
“Yes, it’s like that. We don’t want the people we care about to be hurt” Styx answered, giving her a warm smile.
“Oh, I’ll keep that in mind” Sage said as she looked at the woman slowly leaving their room.
Styx wanted to change the topic of the three, “I think your aunt brought food. Do you want some?” he asked when he saw the bowl of soup near their bed.
“Sure” she answered, receiving a bowl of soup from the male.
Styx carefully distributes the bowl of soup to the other two, “Dude, can you hold your bowl? Or do you need help?” he asked, looking at the other who was wearing a cast on his left arm.
Daexoen examines his situation, “Sage, can you place the other bowl here? I can manage to eat by myself but I can’t bring it here ” He asked the youngest who instantly placed it on the table they were now sharing by her bed.
Before their conversation, it seems that the three forgot about the two agents in the room with them who were listening to their conversation not long ago. The two looked at each other after hearing the two boys trying to explain the situation to the youngest. They had their assumptions but they decided to remain silent and just continue to watch the interaction between the three.
It was already Friday morning, they were scheduled to leave the hospital that afternoon after staying for the night.
Sage was the first to wake up from the three. She slowly got up from her bed to go to the bathroom, trying her best not to put pressure on her shoulder. As she sat up she noticed a bouquet on top of the table. She slowly went near it. She looked confused seeing the bouquet of white roses, not remembering anyone putting it there the night before. She was also certain it wasn’t the two agents, which means someone else entered their room.
"Sage? What's that?" She looked back to her friends who were now sitting on their beds, lazily looking at the youngest.
"Are those flowers?" Styx asked, after properly fixing his focus towards the youngest.
"Yeah, I saw them here. Who would bring us flowers?"
"Look for a note or something" Daexoen tiredly suggested, which the latter complies with.
Hope you get well.
“Hope you get well?" The female curiously said. "Who would give us this?” She asked the two.
The two shrugged, “Must have been a schoolmate who asked the nurse to put it there." Styx suggested, however the oldest seemed to realize that Sage was out of bed. "But why are you up? Where are you going?” Styx interrogated.
“I was just going to the bathroom” She answered as she placed the flowers back on the table and slowly went inside the restroom.
She then heard the voices of the newly arrived agents alongside with her aunt asking where she was. She quickly finished her needs and went out. Her mind was still flooded with the mysterious bouquet.
By the time it reached 2, all three of them were getting their stuff ready together with their family members. Styx had an arm around Daexoen’s right shoulder as they started to leave their room. When they reached the lobby the three sat down on the lobby’s couch while their respective families paid for their bills.
The three sat opposite to a quiet girl . The two guys looked worried for the female in front of them. She looked pale, her eyes were a bit dilated and she looked like she was about to pass out.
"Ms. Are you okay?" Daexoen asked, causing a few people to look at the female as well.
She looked at him for a minute, trying to find words to construct, but her sight started to go blur and the only words she said before falling to the ground.
“H-help” she weakly said before falling fast on her feet.
Daexoen tried to grab the female’s wrist to help prevent her from falling too hard but because of his injury he wasn’t as successful as he hoped to be.
The people by the lobby started to panic after seeing the female collapse. Doctors and nurses near the hall started to rush near the victim.
Before one of the doctors could touch her Styx intervened, "Wait! It's a crime scene, you shouldn't move the body" He stopped them.
The doctor grunts at the teen before taking his wrist from the teen's grip. "But we need to move her,” one doctor protested.
Daexoen sighed at the stubbornness of the doctor. "I know you're worried about the others but if you move the body a possibility of losing evidence is highly possible. Plus, you don't know what killed her, it could be contagious so touching her without proper authorities taking a look is quite dangerous even though you are doctors but this is not your forte of work. I was lucky to be already wearing gloves, '' Daexoen answered.
Before the doctor could refute, Agent Brook and Agent Kleio arrived at the scene. "They’re right. Step away from the crime scene. I am agent Brook. Lock the doors and please secure the other patients, We’ll handle this." Agent Brook said after showing his badge to the hospital officials.
The doctors and other staff didn’t have a choice but to lead the other patients and visitors from the lobby to an empty room near the hall.
"Kleio call for backup. You three should go with Hyun at the--" The agent was then cut off after hearing what the youngest of three said.
The female was mindlessly staring at the victim, "A fourth victim" She said as she pointed to the stranger's neck.
"She saw that?" Styx whispered at Daexoen, after seeing the dots; which the four gentlemen had to go near the victim squinting their eyes to see the four perfectly aligned dots on the victims neck, while she was standing and a bit far from the other female’s body.
"Amazing how she does it right?" Daexoen laughed before slowly going near the youngest. "Guess we're back to the real case." He added and looked at the two now serious agents.
