"What the hell is happening!?"
Their focus shifted towards the crowd of students. The two looked back at one of the female students that approached them. All eyes were now on them, waiting for any possible answers or solutions the two came up with.
Ignoring the other student, Sage decides to question the crowd, "We need to know did any of you notice someone leave? Either go to the kitchen or bathroom?"
They started to whisper, quietly discussing towards one another. Some tried to remember if there was anyone, while others bluntly gave up. It would have been a miracle if someone did recall, everyone was in chaos, it wasn't impossible if someone didn't notice them.
And like a miracle, "I saw a guy going to the bathroom when the two of you went to the counter" One student suddenly said
The two immediately turned their attention to her, "Did he bring anything with him? A bag or something?" Daexoen asked
She looked up trying to recall but then shook her head, "Not that I remember of, I think he left his backpack on his table."
Sage scanned the tables in the room, "Do you know where he was sitting?"
"No, but I think one of the tables near the door" The other replied
Sage gave an understanding nod, "Can you describe him?"
"He was wearing casual clothes, he had a hat and was wearing a jacket. Come to think of it, He didn't actually look like he was a student or staff of the school" she said, recalling the possible suspect's attire.
Sage tuned out everyone in the room for a quick moment. Imagining the cafeteria with the given image she had when she last scanned the room. She began to place every single person in the exact table they were seated. She remembered there was a couple of students sitting on the table next to a window beside them was a group of friends taking pictures, and at the table behind them, closest to the door was a boy in a red hat-wearing a gray jacket. He was mostly on his phone the entire time.
Sage grabbed a hold of Daexoen, "The guy must still be in the bathroom. I'll look for his backpack. Can you be able to hold him down?" Daexoen gave her an approving nod before running towards the bathroom.
When he was gone, Sage ran towards a table grabbing the suspected backpack. She heard grunts and fighting coming from the bathroom, however, her focus was clearly glued to the leather bag. Sage slowly opened it up and was greeted by the suspected explosive. She didn't waste time and immediately started to inspect the explosive.
"This wire leads to the section, and that wire connects to the explosive material." She thought to herself.
Her focus snaps towards the bathroom, finding a tackled man underneath a frustrated Daexoen. The students cluelessly backed away, confused with the sudden attack from one of their schoolmates. Daexoen however, was trying to pin the man but the other kept shoving him away.
"Hey, Go help him," Sage called out to two students.
Although they were confused with the whole situation, they reluctantly help pin down the suspect. Daexoen hovered over the guy pinning his whole body down to prevent him from squirming away
"Don't move!" he growled. His tone was harsh and cruel, sending shivers down the spine of every student in the room. It was strict, clearly hearing the sound of authority. However, that silence didn't last long when he noticed a small remote between the grip of the suspect, he saw the flickering red light coming from if, clearly indicating that whatever that remote was connected to, was now in progress.
Daexoen looked at him with pure anger, "You activated it?!" He yelled before looking at the piled students. "Get to the farthest corner of the room and get down!" He instructed.
It was like a snap to every single person in the room. Everyone started running towards the farthest corner of the room. Daexoen signaled towards the people at the other side of the door to back away. Everyone easily understood the situation. However, Daexoen didn't expect to see one student standing nearest to the place, especially when that student was holding the very thing that could kill them.
"Damn Sage, get over here!" He called out to her. Unable to leave, not wanting the suspect to escape and hurt someone even more.
Sage ignored the boy, She continued to hold onto the device, desperately figuring out the structure of the device and how to defuse it. Yes, hiding was one of the logical ways to avoid the bomb but it would still do damage, deactivating it would be better. It could reduce the number of casualties to zero. The ticking sound from the device started to beep faster indicating Sage had little time before it would go off on her hands and face.
"Got it" She mumbled. She hissed in pain as she grabbed the blasting cap from the device and threw it at the corner. It was hot but luckily, the teen threw it just in time before it blew off on her hand.
"Sage, You good? What happened?" Daexoen asked, still hovering over the suspect trying to firmly pin him down.
"I'm fine, burned my fingers but it's alright" she showed him a gentle smile.
the older one looked at her with disbelief, "You disarmed it?"
"Well, kind of. The blast cap was the part that sparks the explosion by removing it, it was disarmed but the material is still explosive but it needs heat to go off" she explained as she gently settled the explosive on the table.
Daexoen sighs with relief, "It's good that you're alright."
People and paramedics were already coming up when they heard the small blast from the blasting cap. Luckily, Sage was able to help unlock the doors. Without a minute to waste the door was opened, and numerous officers and paramedics entered the room to check on the students and staff. And not even a minute after, Agent Brook came rushing in the room, frantically looking for his nephew.
"Daexoen! Daexoen!" he started calling out to him.
Daexoen saw how his uncle searched the room, "I'm here uncle." he finally called out to him.
The sight of his nephew gave the man a breath of relief before engulfing him into a tight embrace. He whispered words of relief and apology. However, his face turned dark after seeing a guy in the hands of a police officer. It was quite obvious to know that he must have been the one that started this. Anger started to bottle up inside the agent. He grabbed the suspect on his collar forcefully pulling him closer.
He looked at him with the most deadliest glare, "Who sent you?!" he growled
The guy opened his mouth to speak, "It--"
"Damn!" The agent cursed. The guy suddenly fell unconscious. Luckily, he was still alive, just unconscious. He was brought to the hospital with full security making sure he wouldn't escape.
Setting aside all the worry, Agent Brook and Agent Kleio needed to ask Daexoen the details of the situation. By the looks of it, everyone was still out of the scene. It was frustrating getting any information from them.
"What happened, Daexoen? I asked one of the staff she said there was a bomb. How did you disarm it?" Agent Kleio asked.
"I didn't uncle, she did," he said as he motioned to the student who was now arguing with one of the paramedics.
The two look towards the female's direction, "Her again? How?" Agent Kleio continued.
Daexoen shrugged, "Long story uncle but she was amazing! She really is like a real-life genius."
The young man started to walk towards the girl followed by the two agents behind him. Her injured fingers were now treated however, the paramedic was trying to put a blanket on her shoulders but she kept shrugging it off.
The paramedic gave a frustrated sound before putting the blanket back on her, "Ms. The blanket will help with the shock. The situation is very stressful." He continued
Sage gave him an irritated look, "Do I look shocked or stressed to you? If I do then you should really change your profession, because I am not." she said with a matter-of-fact
"Leave her, It looks like she really doesn't need it" Agent brook interfered.
Luckily he did so in time, before the two would have started a whole argument. The paramedic then gave up and left the quartet to tend to the other students. Daexoen then sat beside the female with a worried look before handing her a bottle of water to drink.
"Are you okay?" he sincerely asked.
Sage accepted the bottle and drank a gulp or two before answering, "Thanks. I really am alright though. How about you? You were surely hurt by that guy."
"I'm fine just a punch on the stomach but I'm good," the boy said, giving an assuring smile.
Agent Kleio gave Agent Brook a teasing nudge while motioning towards the two teenagers. The latter looked at him irritatingly but the other just gave a teasing grin. It was a wholesome interaction honestly, but there was something about the two that just felt a bit exclusive.
Agent Kleio looked at agent Brook, "Looks like your nephew might be head over heels." he whispered teasingly.
The agent pushed him off, "Shut up Kleio" he scolded him..
Agent Brook cleared his throat, gaining the attention of the two. "Ms. Enigmeria, Mr. Epifanio. It looks like we have a lot of questions for the two of you."
