Chapter 8: This is strange

"I told you what I know!" Sage frustratingly said. Agent Brook gave her a stern look, "No, you haven't! You know lying to an officer is an offense that can get you into jail." Agent Brook said, determined to get information out of the teenager. Ever since they've arrived at the station, the officer has been determined to get any piece of information out of the girl. Insisting that there are things she has yet to explain or that there were details she refuses to mention. And the young lady has constantly been claiming her cluelessness and innocence. You could feel the frustration from both parties as they keep sending glares towards one another. Sage gave him an irritated look, "Alright then, tell me how exactly am I lying to you about? What evidence do you have to prove that? I am telling you officer it's not right to force a person into something especially in an interrogation when you are claiming she is lying and in line for perjury without legal evidence and proof, it is enough to sue and get you demoted. If you are trying to scare me into something, well think of other ways than the law cause we both know I am not breaking any of it. Don't make me call a lawyer." The girl harshly said. The officer went silent. He knew she was right, he couldn't make her talk, especially that the young lady herself is very keen on the law. He also knew that he could be in big trouble if even she files a case against him, he didn't have solid evidence like what she said, all he had was his nephew's previous instincts, which he knew he couldn't use to reason out. The agent sighed, "Okay, fine. Then tell me about the bomb this morning" The agent calmly said. the other relaxes with the change of question, "We were trapped in the cafeteria, with no means of communication." The agent nodded, "And how did you know there was a bomb?" "Why else would they trap us in a room with glass windows?" she sarcastically said. Ignoring the sarcasm he proceeded to ask, "How did you know that the criminal was inside? And how did you know where the bomb was?" Sage gave a more serious expression, "your nephew and I realized that creating casualties wasn't their top motive for the explosive." The agent stared at her, realizing the sudden seriousness from the younger. "They were hopeful in getting him and I in the same room. Why? It's just a hunch but I suspect it was because of your nephew, but also you." The agent looked at her confused, "What do you mean?" Sage sighed at the lack of comprehension from the agent, "I guess I'll explain a bit more. They didn't want you to continue investigating the serial killing case. And in order to do so they needed to create a scene traumatizing enough for you to drop it. And what would be the greatest way to stop you?" She paused looking at the almost enlightened agent. "By hurting the only family you have here. They wanted to scare you by using the life of the very person you want to protect but also traumatize you by not saving those who shouldn't have been involved." The Agent pondered the newly obtained information. He didn't expect they would involve the students, especially his nephew. He knew the girl was right, knowing his nephew and other innocent kids get involved in the case he would immediately drop it, he might even consider leaving the job. He swore he would protect his family, even if it means losing his profession. "If that's the case then why did they wait for you to be in the same room?" He asked her. She shrugged, "I'm not really sure if that was the intention or a coincidence." She started off, "But if it were intentional then it could have been a plot to scare us off. Daexoen and I were involved with the scene yesterday. I gave a lead to the serial killing case, Daexoen supported it." The agent grew silent. A double threat. Worse of all, it was directed to his nephew and another student. He didn't think that the case he was holding was this serious. Don't get him wrong, of course a mass killing of innocent people is alarming but to actually create a plot as big as sending a bomb to a school? It feels like there's more to this then just a typical murder case. Sage cleared her throat, catching the attention of the agent. "If this is all we are going to talk about, I think I should take my leave" The teen said as she plans to leave her seat.   "Wait, There is actually one more thing. Tell me, how you saw the dots. And why did you think it was a serial killing" The agent added. The younger one slowly sat back down, "Elaborate?" she curiously asked him. The officer brought out a folder. He slowly reveals three different photographs. They were the pictures of each of the victims, specifically their arms. The photo is focused on the tiny dots on their wrist. It was as tiny as a point of a pen, but it was visible nonetheless. "All of our victims have dots on their wrist. You were right, but how did you find them? And how did you know it was a serial killing?" He asked. Sage gave a neutral look, "Oh, well the woman looked like she was in her mid 20's. With her attire coming into the cafe, it seemed like her job involved food. She had an apron on top of her bag, her top was a rolled white long-sleeved uniform with ketchup and other condiments stained on her shirt, her skirt had a small coffee stain as well as her socks. So her line of work did not involve a pen unless he was a waiter but like I've said with his attire it can be easily distinguished that she was a chef." She paused for a moment. "The dots were small, I may admit but the perfect alignment and the shape were remarkably excellent that a perfectionist would immediately spot the well-designed pattern, if it were a tattoo it should have been a little bigger and the woman clearly was not a fan of tattoos based on her actions. I just put bits and pieces together, I was just hypothesizing my observations. I did not think that I was a hundred percent accurate. Then again my assumptions are never wrong." Silence engulfs the two. Agent Brook tries to understand everything she told him. Sage tried to speak but was cut off by the sudden open of the doors. "Uncle I- Oh I'm sorry" Daexoen suddenly intruded, stopping from his tracks after seeing the presence of the female. "I thought you were done with the interrogation. They told me to come in." he apologized. The other agents must have thought the interrogation was over. Agent Brook stood from his chair walking his way towards his nephew. However, something from the photograph caught her attention. It was vague and unnoticeable but for her it was undeniably visible. "It's fine why-" "This is strange."  Agent Brook immediately directed his attention back to the young female. She was closely looking at the first victim's photo. "What is?" Daexoen walks next to her followed by the agent. "Her forearm has a different shade than the rest of her arm" she said as she pointed at the picture. The agent looks at it closely but gives her a confused look, "What? I don't see a difference."  Daexoen however thinks otherwise. "She's right." he pointed. "This is amazing, his way of cover-up is outstanding. And your sense of sight is uncanny." he complimented the younger Sage was caught off guard with the sudden compliment, "Uhh.. Thank you" the girl awkwardly said.  "It's not as noticeable as it seems, the color is close to the rest of her arm but if you'd look closely you can actually see that her forearm is much darker, it looks like it was covered but perfectly shielded to not be seen by other people. I must say whoever is behind this is quite smart with their ways" the female added. Daexoen nodded before facing his uncle, "I agree. The way he painted over her skin is truly amazing" Confused, he decided to look at it again more efficiently, drawing the photo nearer while squinting his eyes, and amazing as it may seem, They were right. It was blended perfectly with the victim's skin that you could barely notice it was ever there. No, you really can't notice it but if you look really closely at her elbow you could see that there was a change in color from her biceps to her forearm. Whoever was behind this knew exactly what he was doing. He looked straight to the one way mirror knowing his partner was at the other side listening and watching them. carefully waiting for his own orders. "Kleio, get to the lab, ask for them to bring out the first victim. It looks like there's more evidence than we thought." he ordered. He could hear the opening and closing of the door from the room beside them. However, before leaving the room he looked back at the two. "You two are coming with me," he told them.
