Chapter 14- Rogue King Raphael

764 Words
“She’s here my Lord” “Obviously she is here! Can you not see the storm raging around the battlefield?” I say with a sigh. My excitement to see what she was capable of was in-measurable . I could use someone like her on my side. If I catch her before she finds and marks with her second chance mate, then she will have no choice but to be on my side. I have been alive for 700 years. And I have waited for this moment for almost as long. I was born a rogue. My parents were outcasts all because they didn’t agree with their alpha. I tried to get accepted into a pack many times over. But the last time did the trick. I decided as they were laughing in my face that I was tired of the ridicule. I was tired of the shame. Just because they disagreed with their alpha over something simple, doesn’t mean the rest of the family is bad. It was the Black Eclipse pack that sealed their fates 457 years ago. I had gone up to the border; neck bared in submission already. Once they took me into the pack dungeon, I had pleaded over and over again for five years to accept me. Finally the day came when they brought me out into the Pack Hall. Excited that they were finally about to invite me into their pack, they took the opportunity to teach other rogues a lesson about trying to ‘fit into the society’. They took silver knives and left a permanent slice diagonally down my face. A constant reminder that I will never fit in. As I recall the story in my head, I take my fingers and drag it across the scar on my face. Well now they are going to realize real justice. For as long as there has been a kingdom, there have been rogues. Many older than the Queen and King themselves. When I discovered that the Princess had a birthday that lined up perfectly with the full moon and her first shift; well I knew the perfect opportunity had risen up. It was just my responsibility to act upon it. “Marcus, Sound the alarm for more warriors. We have plenty at our disposal, and we need to get her sooner rather than later. The quicker we collect her, the quicker we will rule the entire kingdom.” I say with a snap at the servant. With a quick bow, he disappears into the crowd. A horn is heard from our side as more wolves charge. The palace may not think we are strong, but we have a magical advantage they don’t know about. I watch as the Princess tears my forces down with a single swipe of her paw. She was exquisite. With every growl came a bolt of lighting. Striking the rogues mostly but catching a few of her own forces as well. With every killed enemy the wind got stronger and the raindrops fell faster. Soon hail was falling everywhere. It would have killed a normal human if they were out here. But the fact that both sides were still going no matter the weather shows just how resilient we all are. That’s when I saw the other one. The same size as the Princess, maybe even bigger plowing down to get to her. I stood up to watch what was happening. I couldn’t believe it. At first they were fighting each other when he got the upper hand and pinned her. “NO GET HER NOW!!!” I screamed. Of course I knew no one in the field could hear me, but that wasn’t going to stop me from trying. I started to push my way through my troops to get a better look. Once I found a clearing I noticed they both had shifted to human form. He was carrying her limp body back to the castle, the storm disappearing as they went. Furious I called for an immediate retreat. I knew there was no point in wasting lives if they had brought her back into the safety of the castle. We definitely wouldn’t be able to reach her there. At least not tonight. I needed to know who that wolf was. And how they got her to calm down. The quicker I figured it out, the better. This is where my handy little spy will help me out. One way or another, that she-wolf will be mine. And I didn’t care what I had to do to get her.
