I was up early for training. I wanted to get it over with. This is going to be a busy day, and I need to make sure that I have the time to devote to her. I take a quick shower and dress. I go downstairs for breakfast, not hungry, but trying to have the energy I need for the day. I hate to admit that my eyes keep drifting to the door all morning. I keep expecting her to walk into the packhouse. If I’m being honest, I expected her to be here when I woke up. I thought that she would be excited to be by my side and wouldn’t be able to wait long to get to me. If I’m being honest, I’m really offering her the world. I’m sure she never thought she’d become someone of importance. It isn’t that I plan to stay with her, but just being next to me will elevate her status even for a moment. She's going from obscurity to someone seen and maybe treasured, and it’s all thanks to the Moon Goddess. No one in their right mind would piss that away. The day gets later, and I’m growing impatient. Maybe she’s calling herself having a final goodbye with her mom. It would make sense because she would be leaving that run-down home, though she could have done something like that yesterday. I mindlink a few of my trusted warriors to meet me out back. I’m sick of waiting for Samiah to come to me. Maybe she thinks I’m playing, but she will soon learn that total obedience is the only road to travel when dealing with me. I meet the warriors, and we march our way toward the treeline. There is an area of the pack that I rarely travel to. The ‘lesser’ Omegas populate this area. They have homes, but they aren’t as luxurious as others. They are usually single parents or older members of the pack. I walk down the road, looking at my surroundings. Nothing is standing out to me, but I don’t really inhabit this area. Even when I watched Samiah and her mom get arrested and sent to the cells, I didn’t come this far out. I was content to watch from the halfway mark. I stop in front of her home. It’s decent, not broken down or anything. You can tell it’s been standing for a while. The yellow paint is chipping off around the building. Some of the boards at the bottom of the play are rotting and frayed. Water damage over time can do that. The grass is high, and weeds are springing up everywhere. I guess no one thought to maintain the outside of the place when they were locked up. The place looks still, as if there’s no one there. I’m sure that can’t be the case. Maybe she’s trying to act like the house is empty, so I would assume as much and walk away. I walk up to the door, leaving the warriors at the end of the road. If she tries to escape, they have orders to grab her, but not hurt her. I knock on the door and step back. There’s no sound, no movement, nothing. That’s odd because it makes me think that there’s no one in the house. I haven’t seen Samiah around, so she should be here somewhere. I knock on the door again, and focus on the house itself. I try to sniff out any scent, but there’s nothing other than her faint scent. It’s to be expected that her scent would be here. There’s no sound coming from the place, not even heavy breathing. I step back and turn to the warriors. “Search the place and the surrounding area. I want her found and unharmed.” I turn on my heel and walk the way I came. I don’t need to be here to see them fulfill my orders. I just want her brought to me. ~Samiah~ I can honestly say that driving isn’t my favorite thing to do. I guess it doesn’t help that I’ve been driving all night. I’m tired, and my ass hurts. I didn’t dare stop, though, because the last thing I need is my supposed mate to catch up with me. Kemarion threatened me yesterday, and there’s no way I would allow him to get close enough to make good on that threat. Thinking back to our conversation, I actually try to swallow the laugh threatening to fly out of my mouth. He actually tried to get me to do what he wanted by using my mom. That’s a clear sign of someone who’s too selfish to keep up with those around him. My mom didn’t want a pack funeral, but people still knew she was gone. They would come up to me, offer their condolences, and help with anything I may need. My mom was a sweet woman who was always there to help anyone who needed it. They felt her passing, and it hurt them, though not as deeply as it hurt me. If Kemarion was someone who wasn’t completely selfish, he would have known she died and maybe used different tactics. No matter what tactics he used, he wouldn’t be getting me, and that is a fact. Why are you thinking about that loser? I don’t know, Rae. He just popped into my mind. Well, make him pop back out. We don’t need to think about him anymore. He’s nothing to us now. While I agree with Rae, I find her attitude interesting. Our wolves represent our most basic instincts. They are the brutal core of ourselves. They want to protect, provide, and they want their fated mates. Many wolves would fight against their human for rejecting their fated mate. The Moon Goddess gave us our wolves, and they respect the mate bond even more than we humans do. I think that if they weren’t tied to humans, there would never be a rejection of the mate bond. Sometimes the rejection happens unfairly, and the wolves are the ones who suffer. Not this wolf. I get it, and I completely agree. He wasn’t worthy of us; we will find someone better. What if I don’t want anyone else? Rae doesn’t respond, but I didn’t expect her to. I don’t even know where that thought came from, but it’s there. Maybe I don’t want to go through this again. Maybe thinking of a fated mate is a waste of thought. I continue driving, trying to keep my thoughts as positive as possible. I kind of wish I had looked up a destination before I left, but then again, there’s something to be said about being spontaneous. I’m sure I will land somewhere soon, and when I do, I will create a life there. I gave my mom a promise, and I plan to keep it, no matter what.
