Left with no other choice, businessman Schyler Dael took a break from working too much and unwillingly went on a vacation because his parents wants him to.

After losing such remarkable things and the love of his life before, he pushed himself to work, work, work, and work. He never took all of his attention away from his company as he forced himself to move on. He became workaholic and he would absorb too much stress for almost everyday.

Not until his company reached the state of not having major problems at all. Not even a single one.

That’s when everything went very easy for him and had the past as his mind’s favorite movie to watch again and again. He started doubting himself with thoughts if he had really moved on from every mediocre thing he experienced.

With that, he finally listened to his parents and stopped from being too hard-headed like how he was before.

He went on a vacation to face his fear.

He went on a vacation and found himself at the one and only capital of entertainment, fabulous Las Vegas.

But unexpectedly, he didn’t just got all healed up.

He didn’t just got fully recovered.

His unsurely-made decisions had led him to feel the affection that has four treacherous letters. The path he took had led him to someone he’s been looking up to since then. It had led him to the only lady that can impress him.

He found love without even looking for it. He believed in it for the second time around and he gave it another chance. He will do anything even if he needs to fix a broken heart.

But what if the broken heart he needs to fix is owned by the lady he fell in love with?

What if it’ll take her too long before she finally feel the same affection he feels for her?

Will all of his words and actions be enough?

Will he be able to mend her broken heart?

Prologue
"Everybody can leave now. There's no major problem at all. Cotinue your work and congratulations for making July a fantabulous month for our clothing brand. Thank you, everyone!" I blew out a loud breath after sending everyone out. I watched them exit the meeting room one by one as I think of anything that could make my clothing brand more unique and known. I leaned on the back of the swivel chair that I was sitting on before making a turn to face what's behind me. Tons of high buildings. Everytime. There's nothing new. And I'm tired of laying my eyes on this only view that I'm able to see from where I am. Everyday is just a normal day. But I never thought that the stress could get this worse than anything else even though my clothing line is just doing fine. No major nor minor problems at all. It's just, it's gets so busy everyday and I think I couldn't handle this anymore if it keeps getting worse day by day. A new day is more stressful than the other day. And I thought that I'm used to it but I'm not. Maybe, my mother was right. Maybe, I really need to take a break and give myself a vacation. "Sir." I immediately fixed the way I was sitting when I heard my secretary's voice. "Mr. Harvey Aglauros is on the phone. He's looking for you." I lazily nodded to my secretary before messing my hair because of the mild frustration I was feeling. My eyes dropped on the floor when my mind remembered something randomly. I thought my secretary left after the moment she told me that Harvey is on the phone and looking for me. But when I looked at the place where she was standing earlier, she was still there. I saw her blush before she made her way out immediately. I sighed. What's wrong with me again? Was that very unprofessional? Pssh, nevermind. I have no time to waste. I need to answer the telephone now or that jerk will surely be here without any hesitations. Just like what I planned to do, I stood up and exited the meeting room as I made my way to my office. Some of my employees greeted me and I greeted them back even though I was a little bit lazy to do so. I don't want to be rude. When I entered my office, I sat down on my swivel chair and picked up the telephone that was placed above my table. "Good noon. Schyler Dael speaking. Who's this?" I distanced the telephone from my ear when I heard Harvey laughed hard. "Really, Schyler? You ain't fooling anyone. I told your secretary to tell you that it's Mr. Aglauros who's looking for you." I rolled my eyes. He really emphasized the 'Mr. Aglauros'. Okay. Good for him. "Man, I'm bored, tired and a little bit lazy. Can you please buy my mediocre pretending skill even just once?" I heard Harvey laugh again. "There's no way I'm gonna buy that mediocre and lame pretending skill of yours. I rather kiss Trudy's ass." I blinked. Trudy. Trudy Aglauros. That made me grinned. This jackass called because he is alone. I knew it! His cousins had left him and took their own vacations away from Chicago. Harvey's pride is just so high that he won't admit that he wants to take a break too. Well, he had always been like this. He's the type of person that loves his work and position so much. He's workaholic, brilliant, and hardworking. He's on top. And when I say on top, I meant 'Forbes 400' list of America's wealthiest people. He is one of the lucky 13 people from Chicago that made it to the list. He didn't just made it to the list, he's really on top. Unreachable and untouchable. Because he keeps on working his ass off and not minding taking a break or a vacation. He never listens to anyone else. Not even to his mother. He always says "aim high." And for me, I think he's not contented of how high he is standing right now. But if he's not contented, how high is he aiming? I'm one of those lucky 13 people and I'm contented of how high I am standing right now. It's just, I can't leave my clothing brand. I want it to be a family business. Wait, family business? Family business my ass. Yeah, I do want what I started to be a family business. But how the hell am I going to have a family of my own? The first and last time I committed to a woman, it didn't went well. So, I'll stop right there. But I can always adopt a son or a daughter, right? Right! I can adopt instead. I'll raise my own kids. I don't need a mother. "By the way, your mother called." My mind came back to reality when I heard Harvey's voice on the telephone again. I was thinking of not needing a mother and now he's talking about my mother? I really don't need a woman to be my wife or before I have my future children. But I do need my mother. More than anything else. That's what I know. And that's a fact. "My mother? My mother called you?" The surface of my forehead was ruined while I was waiting for Harvey to answer. Why would my mother call Harvey? Is there something she wants Harvey to tell me because she couldn't convince me? It's always like this. It's always "Harvey is the answer" everytime I don't listen to her or Dad. "Yeah. She wants me to convince you to take a break and be on vacation." I sighed. "Your mother cares a lot about you missing the real definition of life. Lucky Schyler Dael." I frowned before scoffing and crossing my legs. What is this jackass talking about? "Let me remind you, Mr. Aglauros. Your mother cares a lot about you too. You're just too hard that even if she uses the whole family, she still couldn't and can't penetrate some sense into your head—" "Blah, blah, blah—" "—I don't know why you're this hard-headed. You don't listen to your mother. Nor your father—" "—blah! Blah, blah—" "Even if Lucan and Trudy would try, I know they wouldn't be able to convince you. Even me! I'm your bestfriend. But you never listen to me—" "—blah, blah, blah!" Goddamn it. "You're being such an asshole, Harvey. Why don't you just take a vacation and be contented?—" "Do you hear someone talking? Why am I on the phone? No one's talking to me—" "Harvey Aglauros!" "Yes, Schyler?" Oh, it still works. He still stops his nonsense everytime I call him by his full name. "Man up. I know that you're not afraid to take a vacation. You're just afraid that you might find someone while on vacation and fall madly in love again. I want you to know that finding your lifetime companion is the only thing that will matter in your whole life after you commit for a long time and after you believe in love again. It'll be remarkable, unforgettable, and enchanting." I stopped and waited for him to say something. I realized that maybe I already said enough and maybe he also wants to say something. But when a couple of seconds had passed, and he's still silent from the other line, I spoke again. "Harvey, I say don't waste any time. She might be out there. Walking, busy with work, or worse, crying her heart out because it's taking you so long to fill her with so much love and contentment. I believe that God has destined each of us to someone he knows that we can call 'home'. 'Cause he knew that we'll always come back to that person that can heal every scar that we earn while we're still alive and making mistakes." I stopped and cleared my throat, "Find your happy ending, Harvey. I want what's best for my bestfriend. You'll find her soon." I heard him scoffed, "Yeah, right. She's really out there, Schy. She's the only one that I think who's right for me. I even danced with her! It was "Lover" by Taylor Swift for pete's sake!" I rolled my eyes. He's talking about the same person again. He barely knew her! He only met her at his parents' party and had a quick interaction on his birthday. How can he tell that she's the one for him? But nah, I don't care. That woman is now married and happy with her husband. The only problem that needs a solution right now is Harvey's. This guy just needs someone to kick him off track. That woman will probably take Harvey's attention. She'll arrive to his life soon. Very soon. "Schy," I heard him sigh, "Instead of giving me a pep talk, why don't you give yourself one? We're both single. Why can't you apply all the things you said to yourself? And excuse me, I'm not the only one who's hard to penetrate some sense into. You're also that hard-headed! Why are you putting all the heat on me?" After everything I said, that's what he's going to say back? How dare him! "Asshole," I blinked, "Yeah?" "Find. Your. Happy. Ending. Too." I laughed before leaning my head on the back of the swivel chair. "I'm going to wait for my happy ending. I'm not going to find it." "That's unfair! What's the use of those words you said to me?" I laughed again and again as I hear him blew a loud breath a couple of times. He even told me that I was being unfair and more problematic than him. "s**t happens, Aglauros. I just copied what my mom told me and told you what she said about that happy ending." I emphasized the 'happy ending' and we both ended up laughing because of what I've done. My mother is gonna kill me brutally if she knew that I didn't believed in her belief system. "Does that happy f*****g ending even exist?" I shook my head as I continued laughing my head off. "I don't know, Harv. I don't know." "Then let's continue working instead and throw that belief system you told me that your mother also told you. What's vacation anyway? My dictionary doesn't know any vacation." "Likewise. I really don't know what's vacation." "By the way, let's hangout later. My villa. 8 PM. Shot's on me." I grinned, "That's more like it. Let's talk about people who keep on looking for true love as they hope for their happy endings to finally come true." "See you later." I ended the call immediately after he said his goodbye. Also, I heard some of his employees. They'd probably entered in his office. I sighed and went to put both of my hands behind my head. My head was leaning on my hands like a pillow as I stare at the ceiling. Honestly, I don't know what to do now. I can only think of one person that can be the reason of my vacation.  She's the only person that I can willingly go back to. But she's not mine. She's not my home. Not anymore. I spent the last 10 minutes thinking and turning my swivel again and again in a circular motion before the lunch break. My secretary gave me my lunch that I told her to get me. She probably bought it from my favorite restaurant. Clara's. That restaurant will always be at the center of my heart. I don't know why but I really love all the food that that restaurant is making. The owner is well known. I know her, yeah, I do. But I never saw her in person. Only on television. I wonder how it feels to cook this kind of extremely good food. Maybe soon. Maybe I'll meet her soon. Let's see. I was drinking water from its plastic bottle when my secretary went in. She was holding a white folder and rushing to me. "Sir, here's the list of demands that you were asking for. Mr. Kane said that you can decide whether you want to put a final decision about it or not on the next meeting. On Monday." I was about to tell my secretary that I'll not attend on the next meeting when an employee entered my office. He was sweating a little bit. It was recognizable because some parts of his polo shirt was wet. Plus, he was holding a handkerchief and I saw him simply wiping his sweat with it. "I'm sorry for bugging in, sir. But we need you on the rooftop." I frowned, "Is something wrong?" He wiped his forehead with his handkerchief again. "Only a minor problem, sir." I nodded before standing up and followed my employee making his way to the rooftop. A photoshoot is happening at the rooftop right now and I can't think of anything that can be problem. My secretary is also following me, staying behind me and waiting if ever I'll give her orders. When the elevator opened, I stopped my employee and told him to change his polo shirt. He was sweating so much and it was not good. I told him that I'll handle whatever the problem is and he can go back after he change. He thanked me and told me that he'll be quick. I just nodded and smiled. I walked forward to the part of the rooftop where the photoshoot was happening and observed how they treat the celebrity that became our ambassador just 2 months ago. "Sir, our male ambassador hasn't arrived yet. We can't start the photoshoot without him. It has been an hour and there's still no sign of him." I licked my lower lip before looking at our ambassador sitting on a stool in front of a mirror. So Miss Gomez has been waiting here for an hour now? "I'll do it." "S-Sir?" I sighed, "I'll do it. I'll do the photoshoot with Miss Gomez if this male ambassador of our clothing brand won't arrive after another hour from now." My employee nodded and told me to sit on the stool beside Miss Gomez. We waited there for an another hour. And when there was no sign of our ambassador again, I made my move to do the photoshoot with Miss Gomez. All I need to do is to pose and smile at the camera. No hassle. Besides, it's not bad to promote your own clothing brand, right? My day is always like this. Being the CEO and the Chairman of my own company everyday. I'm busy being busy. What's vacation anyway?
