Lincoln sat on the big sofa on the phone with Marcel.
'Wait, what do you mean fostering her?'
'Yeah. I guess it's like a trial period. I get to keep her if things goes well and if it doesn't Ben would have to take her back and find someone new for me. She's different then the rest so if she doesn't go home with somebody they will give her to the blood bank.'
'They can't do that to a little.' Marcel exclaimed.
'She's not in the system as a little so technically they can. She was never registered. She merely acts like a little.'
'Why don't they just register her?' Marcel asked.
'Ben tried to when she turned 17 but the board of LitCorp wouldn't see it as a consensual agreement since she didn't go to them, she just appeared. There isn't solid evidence that she consented to be a little from the beginning even though she really liked living there.'
'Well let me talk to Emanuel, he could change the rules. He can make it legal-'
'He can't create a law based on just one human girl, Marcel. Her case isn't common. Plus it's more complicated then that. If he makes it that LitCorp don't need consent who knows what other messed up s**t they would plan.' Lincoln interrupted. He knows that his situation was a little strange. His best bet was that if he doesn't end up loving her that Abby liked it here so much that she stays at her own free will. Without actual documents she could leave anytime and there was nothing anyone could do to keep her here, since she wasn't recorded in the system as Lincoln's little.
'From the photo you sent me, she's really adorable. She doesn't seem like the timid girl you told me she was.'
Lincoln smiled at the thought of the picture. While Abby was mesmerised by the garden he sneaked his phone out and took several photos of her by the pond.
'Yeah, she's opening up a little. She loves the plants. And the fishes. It's adorable.'
'I'm glad it's going well so far.'
'Yeah. And please, don't tell Emanuel about her situation. I don't want him to think I can't handle it. Plus I don't really want to hear any reminders of Sabrina.'
'Nobody ever told me what happened.' Marcel softly said. He was never informed on it. He just knew that Lincoln did something so bad that Emanuel had to step in and remove Sabrina from the situation immediately.
'It's in the past. I don't want to talk about her. I want to focus on what I've got now. I'm in a good place.' Lincoln said. He heard Marcel sighed at the other end.
'Good idea, I guess.'
'I'll talk to you later okay.'
They said their goodbyes and Lincoln sat in silence in the living room. He didn't want his cousin knowing about Abby just yet. He wanted to figure it all out first. If he were to return Abby then it would just give Emanuel reasons to think he wasn't fit to be a daddy.
He waited for a few minutes before he decided to get up and go check on the new Little. Walking up to her door he softly knocked.
'Abby dear, are you alright?'
Abby didn't reply so Lincoln turned the knob and opened the door. The first thing he saw was her clothes scattered in the floor. Immediately his mind went to the possibility of her trying to escape the room. Or worst, injured.
'Abby?' Lincoln called out. But his racing heartbeat slowly went back to normal when he found her at the other side of the bed squatting with animal crackers in her hands and all over the floor.
Lincoln bent down and looked at her to check for any injuries.
'Hey, I was so worried you didn't come out like I told you to.' Lincoln said, moving a piece of her hair away from her face.
Abby stayed silent for awhile before continuing to eat the crackers, ignoring his statement.
Lincoln looked at the crushed up pieces on his beautiful marble flooring and cringed in disgust.
'Where did you get these?' he said reaching his hands out to pick up some of the crumbs.
Abby pointed at her suitcase that was now carelessly thrown on the floor with her clothes falling out of it.
'If you're hungry I could prepare something for you. You don't have to eat those.' Lincoln smiled and tried to take the small piece away from her hands, which he did successfully.
'No...' Abby said softly and tried to take it back but Lincoln wouldn't give it to her. He didn't like her eating strange food that the staff at LitCorp probably packed for her in her bag. She should eat only the finest.
'Come on. Follow me, I'll make you something delicious.' Lincoln said standing up and reaching his hands out for Abby to take. She stared at it in caution but finally connected their hands. Hers disappearing in his big ones.
'Do you want me to carry you?' he asked, hoping that she would say yes, but she shook her head.
'Alright. Let's go'
Lincoln led her to his kitchen where everything was clean and organised. Lincoln is actually a pretty good cook. Ever since he moved out of his fathers castle he had made it a point to do most things himself, hiring minimal staffs. He wanted to finally be fully independent and not have anyone in his business anymore. The prince only had a driver, an old lady that comes once a month to clean and restock the groceries, and the guards that his father insist on him taking. They don't stay with him, only showing up when he is going out for a long period of time.
Abby hugged her cotton as she sat on the stool which Lincoln helped her on. She observed the prince's movements around the kitchen, removing ingredients from the cabinets.
'Let's see, I can make you lasagna. Or an omelette.' Lincoln said, excited to make her a meal.
Abby shrugged her head and pouted. She's still not familiar with this place and she didn't want to let her guards down.
Lincoln sighed.
'I need you to use your big girl words for me, Abby. We can't understand each other if you don't talk to me.'
'Ben...' she whispered with her head down.
'I know you miss him baby, but you can't see him anymore. Not if you don't want to end up in the bad place that they were going to put you in.' Lincoln explained. Abby stayed silent with her head down. The prince slowly walked to her and took a seat on the stool next to the little, holding her shoulders in his arms gently.
'Abby, listen.' he said as the little looked up at him with sad eyes. 'You're with me now. I plan on keeping you for as long as possible. But you have to work with me on this, button. Do you know what a daddy is?'
Abby thought for awhile. 'My friends said before.'
'Have they told you what a daddy does for a little?'
She shook her head which encouraged Lincoln to continue.
'A daddy or mommy is someone who takes care of a little. They provide you with everything you want and they teach you how to be a good girl or boy. They also love you and protect you. And they will never hurt you. Some daddies and mommies s***k their babies but it's only when the babies are being naughty. And that's why most Littles have their own rules that they must follow.' Lincoln finish explaining.
'Daddy?'
'Yes, sweetheart. I'm your daddy.' Lincoln smiled widely when she called him that. It made his heart flutter.
Abby stared at Lincoln curiously. She has heard about daddy and mommy figures before but nobody ever really educated her fully on what they were. To them, she was never meant to be adopted so she wasn't given any lessons on the d**g lifestyle.
'From now on I want you to call me daddy.'
