A Fight (1)

Third Person's P.O.V Monday morning came in a hurry. Eager to let the two even it out- no, three, even destiny was curious. The days passed by like hours, seemed like minutes. Gevia had a heavy feeling as soon as she went home that day. It was supposed to be a normal day for Gevia. But after everything that she'd heard, changes were bound to happen. Gevia's perception of Alex's cold and nonchalant demeanor meant something deeper and darker. Gevia couldn't sleep properly the past few nights. It had been haunting her. The words, Aeron's expression and the severity that could be heard in Aeron's voice said it all. Gevia didn't need to have Aeron to spell it out to her. Alex's life was hard. "You've been down since this morning. Did something happen?" It was a miracle that Gevia hadn't run into the twins yet. Gevia wondered if Alex had seen Aeron since they had been turning and turning because of the dance. There were many chances for Alex to see Aeron. Since Aeron was hidden, that added to Gevia's concern. What if Alex were to confront Gevia and tell Gevia that Alex was hurt that Gevia didn't trust them enough to tell them. Gevia was in a pickle. "And you've been sighing non-stop," Gevia made one last sigh before looking up at Joshua with a hopeless look. Joshua pursed his lips, unsure of what to do or say. "Sorry, a lot has been on my mind lately." Joshua patted Gevia's shoulder, letting her know that he was there for her if ever she needed help. "Do it one by one." "Huh?" "Well, thinking about it only won't make any difference. It will only weigh you down, you know." Gevia nodded, taking Joshua's point. "Don't overthink about it. Start with what you think is the hardest." "Why the hardest first?" Joshua shrugged with a shy smile. "When it comes to problems, talking about the bigger ones is always the hardest." "Shouldn't it be last?" Gevia was curious as to how Joshua came up with that one. "Hmm, it's a personal prefence. It's like this," "Uh-huh?" Joshua readjusts his seating position so he could elaborate on it more using hand gestures. "You said there are a lot of things on your mind," "Uh-huh?" "Then that means there are a lot of smaller ones?" Gevia nodded her head, still following Joshua's words. "Smaller ones tend to accumulate," Gevia was still lost and that was evident on Gevia's face. Joshua pursed his lips again, frustrated that he couldn't get his thoughts out as words. He felt that he must be weird. "I do the hardest part first. If I think about it, smaller ones are a lot. Saying them one by one the first time would be unbearable. To make the talk easier or lighter afterwards, I do the hardest ones first." Gevia clapped her hands once, finally getting it. Joshua sighed in relief when Gevia understood what he meant. Joshua wasn't good at explaining, hence why he was misunderstood as snobbish and condescending. "I get it. That works too." "Mhm, but it depends on the person. That's what I do." Gevia thought about it for a second. The hardest one would be apologizing to Alex. I don't really care if Alex saw me with Aeron. Like Aeron said, their family issue is something that can't be solved easily with just one talk. "Thank you," After I apologize, I guess I'll start telling Alex what I feel or something. Gosh, I sound like I'm a teenager in love. Which is disgusting. Joshua grinned, "You're welcome!" Students started whispering loudly all at the same time. The sudden change of mood inside the classroom was made known to Gevia and Joshua. The two of them were looking around, trying to get some information on the gossip. "It's f*****g live!" "Oh, my God. Alex can fight so well." "Isn't that the captain of the football team?" Gevia and Joshua got nervous at the same time. Joshua bit his lower lip while Gevia fished out her phone and went to their school's page. Gevia immediately found the live show and clicked on it with Joshua peering over her shoulder. "I told you already. Calm down." the captain said, wiping the blood on the side of his chipped lip. He grunted, knowing that he couldn't win against Alex. Alex was trained, both in mind and body. Alex's punches were as hard as steel. If punched with full force, teeth could easily be on the ground, shining a maroon color. They attracted a crowd. The most handsome person in school versus the most sporty guy in school. Everything was a mess. The captain's blood was on the floor, splattered a bit, while Alex's forehead was bleeding. The captain didn't hit Alex, but due to the sudden movements, Alex's wound opened up. The blood ran down Alex's face, tinting almost half of Alex's face. Alex's wound was burning up and needed some medical attention, but Alex was so pissed that they didn't even care. The night that Alex saw Gevia dancing with someone else was engraved in their mind. Pushed that 'on repeat' sign. Alex couldn't sleep at all. The lack of sleep irritated Alex. Alex was malfunctioning and was in pain. Alex grabbed the captain's collar and pulled on the captain. As if the captain was a doll, his weight was easily handled by Alex. Lifting half of his body with one hand, punched the captain's left cheek, leaving a pinkish dent. The captain's blood was spewed on the floor again. Alex's strength was slowly draining. They stumbled back and dizziness visited Alex's consciousness. The captain sat upright, still concerned about Alex's well-being. What happened to you? The captain thought to himself before catching Alex. They were fighting, and Alex was about to knock the captain unconscious, but they were still friends. The captain and Alex go way back. They were childhood friends. Both accepted their sexualities at an early age and told each other about it, and no one else. They trusted each other so much. Alex even told the captain everything that was happening in Alex's house, but everything slowly changed. Alex's bubbly personality disappeared over time. Alex began to turn into a cold person. Alex was quiet, and they didn't say anything about the status of their house anymore. The captain noticed this, and tried confronting Alex about it. Alex's only response was and always had been, "I hate it." No matter how many times the captain tried to make Alex open up, it created more distance than it ever did good. The change was very visible, and eventually, Alex stopped seeing the captain and their friendship turned cold. They see each other in school, but neither said anything to each other. "Gevia was out with someone that looked just like you the other night. Was that you?" Alex stopped talking, hearing that familiar voice uttering Gevia's name. "Don't even try anything." Alex growled, warning the captain. "I know you like Gevia." "Shut up." Alex walked away, but the captain followed closely behind. "What do you think would happen to Gevia if your father knew of this?" "You don't know what you're talking about." Alex firmly talked back. "You guys were born to compete against each other!" Alex took a step back and lunged at the captain, kicking him in his left hand. Alex managed to jump back, waiting for the captain to attack, but the attack never came. "Who was she with?" Alex asked calmly, but Alex's inside was already boiling with jealousy and rage. "She looked exactly just like you! Except she has long hair." The captain gave Alex a piggy back ride to the infirmary and got Alex's forehead wound treated first. "That's some dope-ass bruises there, Captain." the nurse teased the captain. The captain was known as a kind soul. Someone that doesn't get into fights with anyone. Much less Alex, the child of a mafia boss. The captain giggled, hurting his busted lip. "Thank you. That person could punch and if I think about it, Alex didn't have enough sleep. Not even the strength to stand up." Alex's bags under their eyes were visible. The dark circles signified that Alex hadn't slept, and the chapped lips were a sign that Alex wasn't eating properly. Not even drinking water. Gevia and Joshua suddenly barged into the infirmary, panting as if they had run a marathon. Gevia immediately went to Alex's side and checked the forehead, wincing once she saw the stitches. Joshua pursed his lips before going to the captain's side. "Good, you can take it from here. I need to write a report about this. Sir Samson wants a record of everything that involves a fight." the nurse sighed, feeling a headache coming. Joshua didn't say anything and started treating the captain. The captain was smiling while being treated, happy that Joshua rushed to see him. "Ow!" he complained when Joshua pushed a little harder on his cut. "Stupid. You know you can't take Alex. Why provoke them?" the captain giggled. Joshua was a scholar and one of his duties was to assist the nurse's office whenever he could after school. "I wonder why."
