Third Person's P.O.V Thursday night finally came and Joshua and Gevia were on their way to the airport. Joshua was giddy the entire car ride to the airport. It wasn't his first time on a plane, but it was the first with a friend. The whole ride made him ecstatic about what was about to come. The smile on Joshua's face couldn't be erased. "Chillax, will you?" Gevia said, knowing that Joshua would not come calm down. The adrenaline that was driving Joshua's body at the moment would die down, Gevia thought. "I could never! You said the dress is also ready?" Gevia simply nodded, calmly. Trying not to add to Joshua's hype, but it wasn't working. Joshua spun around, already failing at relaxing. Joshua was looking forward to everything. From the car ride to the actual event. It was all a surprise to Joshua. All new to him. It was a new adventure that he thought would never happen to him. "I knew it, I knew it! Damn, I want to see! But wait, did the tailor say anything about the design? Any comments?" They walked to the airport hangar, where their private Jett was, but Joshua didn't know. He looked around and saw a private Jett. His mouth instantly fell to the floor, surprised yet again by how rich his friend was. He forgot that his friend could afford whatever she wanted. Gevia nonchalantly enters the private jett. With its engine running, and the noise invading their eardrums. The mechanics were doing their last round of engine check and refueling was almost done. Joshua reluctantly and curiously entered the aircraft. He followed Gevia, meticulously trying not to get in Gevia's way or act a bit more ignorant. But Joshua felt that with every step, the more he realized that he was mere dust. He gulped, amazed at the interior of the aircraft. On the outside, it looked like your average private Jett with its panted metals and rivets, but on the inside, it was designed by Gevia. The color inside, the floor and the lights. "Woah, this looks like a gem." Joshua wanted to compliment her as it was a beautiful sight. He's never seen anything like that in his entire life. Heck, entering a private Jett was a first for him. He had thought that they were going to fly business class on a Boeing. But he was dead wrong. "Thank you. I designed it myself. It looked too bland for me." "Wait, so, so you own this whole thing?" Gevia nodded, pouring herself a glass of champagne before sitting and looking out the window, overseeing the mechanics doing their jobs. Joshua imagined Gevia as the sophisticated, typical rich white woman that owns everything. Joshua immediately erased the thought, shaking his head, disagreeing with his own wicked imagination. He took a seat in front of Gevia and Gevia poured him champagne. He mouthed 'thank you' before inhaling the scent of the champagne before taking a sip. "Oh, you know your champagne," Gevia commented. In awe that Joshua knew how to appreciate a glass of champagne. They clunked their glasses, not on the rim, but on the bowl. As clunking on the rim would break the glass. "Of course. I serve as well." "What can't you do?" Gevia asked the all-too-knowing Joshua. Josuha playfully gestured a fancy 'stop' with his left hand before they started giggling. "Charlie, what great champagne we have." Gevia said, mimicking a British accent. "Ooh, now that you've mentioned it, the taste and aftertaste clash in my taste buds," Joshua followed suit. They shared a good laugh before the captain announced that they were taking off. The conversation had to come to a halt. After taking off and entering a cruising flight, the mimicking and the jokes continued before they decided to rest. They were going to arrive on the island early in the morning and they needed to prepare for an event before the actual gala. Since the gala was about the new generation of leaders, the older generation decided to build a good partnership. The new generation of leaders were all about self-improvement and self-reliance, and they forgot connections are also a part of business. The older generation noticed this and decided that a somewhat teambuilding activity ought to happen before the gala. The Jett finally landed and Gevia's private carriers carried their bags to their hotel. The island wasn't anything like Joshua thought it would be. It wasn't entirely full of buildings, but the island had its fair share of modernization. With hotels around, beach resorts, and the paths leading to the premises weren't paved, but rather still soil. There were also restaurants, and also street vendors that sell delicacies that didn't originate in the country. Joshua was astounded when he saw how expensive everything was. It was as if the world existed on the island alone. Food and things from the seven continents were there. Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and Australia- everything was there. Even traditional dresses and lanterns of some places were there. "This is gorgeous!" Joshua couldn't help but yelp in happiness. It was as if he had entered heaven in the mortal world. The unity was bizarre, seeing how discrimination still existed everywhere. Everywhere except on that island. The peace and quiet touched Joshua's heart, mending it to the point of blindly trusting. Gevia chuckled, predicting correctly that Joshua would like it there. That was also one of the reasons why Gevia wanted Joshua to come. One was also to thank Joshua for everything that he had ever done for Gevia. It was a silent appreciation gift. They still had time before they needed to prepare, so Gevia allowed herself and Joshua to roam around. It was still dark, but the island was pretty much awake. It was livelier when it was dark. The island had a night life, if assumed. Since it was still dark outside, the island had its lights full on, waking up beautiful sparks. Gevia wanted to appreciate the beauty of the island, but she knew that it would be a waste to enjoy it by herself. "The host of the gala, who is the same age as we are, owns this island." Gevia told Joshua a little trivia. But it wasn't little to Joshua. He had to reconsider if he had a busted screw in his head. He wasn't sure if he heard Gevia correctly, but then proceeded to conclude that what he heard was indeed right. "No?" was what he said, making Gevia burst out laughing. "What do you mean 'no'? Pfft," Joshua scratched the back of his neck. Recapping what he said, he found himself dumbfounded. "Sorry, I-I'm just too shocked still. How can that person afford an island to this degree?" "The owner is a girl and owns shops. She has an established musical career as well." Joshua had to raise his eyebrows. "Goddamn, really? Wow, ain't that elite?" I swear, it's a surprise after a surprise around here. Joshua thought to himself, hoping that that was the last surprise that Gevia was going to tell him. But little did he know, there was still a lot that he would be surprised about. They walked around, admiring the island. "It is. She's the only one I ever talk to, actually. But we're not close." Joshua hums. "She's just like us, trying to make a difference in this shitty world." Joshua added, making Gevia nod her head. "No wonder unity and peace are achieved here. It's a girl we're talking about," Joshua complimented. "Agreed. No hate on men, but most men are usually pricks and only care about themselves." Gevia shivered, disgusted with the thought of a man ever treating her with money that wasn't even his. "True that." They walked a bit more before deciding to go to their hotel and check in. They had their rooms adjacent to each other to make it easier for them to find each other and easier to reach. Once they entered the hotel room, Joshua checked the room and bounced off the bed. Gevia, on the other hand, got to unpacking and took a hot shower. It freshened Gevia with a sigh of content escaping from her plump lips. They got ready for the day and met up outside their rooms to eat breakfast. The breakfast was on the rooftop, where they got to eat and drink their favorite morning preferences while inhaling fresh air. It was a nice change of pace away from the city and all the pollution. One would want to live there all their lives, rotting away healthily. "Truly marvelous," Joshua said, unconsciously using a British accent. Gevia looked around but elegantly. "Indeed," someone spoke behind them, making them jump. They saw Alex smiling. Alex said it in a British accent as well, to add to the humor. Or supposed to, but the surprise greeting was given more importance than the joke. Somehow, Gevia felt relieved to see Alex there- no, happy even. Her heart started thumping loud and fast. The bright smile that Alex displayed etched its way to Gevia's heart, knocking on its door. Joshua noticed Gevia's sudden frozen state and made it his mission to make this a memorable trip. He grinned and pushed Gevia towards Alex. Alex had to catch the pushed Gevia with open arms. "I'm going to go and eat on my own. I'm going to be away for a while, so you guys keep each other company." Joshua grinned and before Gevia could protest, Joshua ran away with a knowing grin. Gevia sighed before standing up and getting herself a plate. Alex followed closely behind her. Even as they weren't doing anything spectacular, they were attracting attention. With their flawless visuals, eyes were bound to stare. Majestic was what they were described in one word. "Stop following me. I don't want attention," Gevia said in a low voice, trying to keep it down. "Psh, even if you're not there, people would still mention you." "I already attract enough. You being here makes it even worse." Alex giggled. They got a plate as well and chose a salad for breakfast. Gevia tilted her head to the side, confused, but didn't pay it any mind. "Good then."
