Third Person's P.O.V
Gevia was pouting the entire time. She puckered up her lips, forming an adorable pout. She went back to her seat, where she left Joshua's side. When Gevia came back, she already wore her pout. Joshua saw the pout and wanted to ask about it, but Gevia looked too troubled to even interrupt. Joshua, just to make sure to commemorate the moment, slyly took a picture of Gevia. He giggled, sending it immediately to Alex.
Alex, while waiting behind the door of her gaming room, received the text. Alex unlocked their phone and took a look at the photo sent. Alex giggled, grinning from ear to ear when Alex saw the photo. Alex smiled, thankful that Joshua sent that photo. Alex was feeling nervous.
Alex's heart rate was racing from the beginning. They just had to see Gevia before the game, but still that wasn't enough. The photo was the icing on the cake. Alex was finally calm. They were finally ready to take on the challenge. Whatever the outcome was, Alex was prepared to accept it. Winning wasn't the goal, it was so gather as much money as they could.
"Let us welcome our special guest in the battle room! Alex Samson!"
Alex put their phone away and entered the room with their head held high. Twisting the door knob, the roar of the crowd intensified, deafening those that were beside them. Joshua and Gevia felt the venue shaking from the thunderous music and loud shouts and screams. As much as Gevia wanted to comment about how loud and how many Alex's fans were, she couldn't. She knew that no matter how much she would shout just to tell Joshua, she couldn't be heard.
Gevia looked at the screen, lighting up with Alex's determined face. Alex was handsome, that was a fact. And Alex appearing on the big screen was definitely pleasurable in their eyes, especially in Gevia's.
Alex sat on the gaming chair, slowly wearing headphones. Alex's opponent saw this as an opportunity to rise. Alex was known to the gaming world as someone who participated in the beta and reached the top single-handedly. Nobody ever reached the top of that game, even with the numerous attempts of many.
Alex was the only one. Alex's opponent strongly idolizes Alex, so when he hears that Alex has quit the game and resigned as the number one, his world crumbles like a piece of paper, thrown at the nearest trash bin. He aimed high, and was at the top of the game, but was still not satisfied.
So when he heard that Alex was going to play, and even though he knew that Alex was only playing for a cause, he entered immediately even after his company told him that he couldn't go as a professional gamer.
"Why can't I go?!" he shouted angrily, not wanting to let the opportunity slip away from his hands.
He felt strongly about his company's rejection. He slammed the table with his fist, proving that he was pissed. His manager sighed. Shaking his head and scratching the back of his neck. The CEO of the company was taking this matter seriously.
"It was stated in the contract that you can't participate in games such as those you mentioned. That would be highly disadvantageous to those that also compete with you. It would deem the game unfair," the CEO insisted, crossing his arms.
"The contract didn't state that I couldn't enter competitions inside my own school. I am still a student and I have the right to do what I want inside my school. Your power can't reach our school."
The CEO looked at the student. The student didn't come unprepared. He reviewed the contract over and over again, looking for a selling point- a way to get over his obstacle; his company. He didn't sleep many nights. He hasn't eaten a proper meal and can't focus when practicing. All he could think of was playing against Alex.
"I see. You're this insistent to actually find that."
"Besides, this is Alex Samson we're talking about. After conquering that game and rising to the top, they immediately resigned. Alex did not have a coach. Alex was a solo. Don't you want to know the difference in our stats and skills?" at this point, the student was provoking the CEO.
"Oi, you're playing a dangerous game here." the student's manager whispered.
The manager looked at the student and saw for himself that the student didn't care one bit.
"Alright. But we have to set consequences here." the CEO said.
"Anything."
The day had already arrived and the student was waiting eagerly for Alex to log into the game. He was smiling maniacally. He was going to beat Alex fair-and-square.
But it wasn't enough.
The guy lost fair-and-square. It was inevitable. Although everything was only for a cause, that wasn't enough to make Alex slack and make a complete fool out of themselves. Alex practiced. Alex thought of a game plan beforehand. Alex also reviewed the participants and saw the guy's name on the list.
Even though Alex left and resigned, they were still fairly updated. After all, it was for personal reasons that Alex left and not because they wanted to. Alex had already anticipated that the guy would be the last man standing. Alex thought of countless strategies, erasing possible ones and coming up with new and better ones. Alex also reviewed the guy's matches, 1v1, clutches and tactics, countering them with their own.
"ALEX SAMSON WON AGAINST THE NUMBER ONE! ALEX WON!"
Alex and the student were told to meet on the stage, to give that final end-of-game courtesy. Alex and the guy met on the stage with big smiles on their faces. Alex extended their hand and the guy satisfyingly shook Alex's hand.
"It was a nice game," Alex commented.
"I still can't beat you. Not now, not ever." the guy admitted. Alex grinned, but shook their head.
"You almost had me there at the end, actually. I had to improvise."
"Tell me, why did you leave?" the guy's sadness reached Alex's heart, touching it by surprise.
Both of them were having their moment on stage while the audience continued cheering for Alex. Gevia and Joshua were cheering with the audience, proud of Alex for beating the current number one in the game. For Alex to defeat the current number one in the global ranking was a feat that nobody could ever attain.
From one gamer to another, Alex felt the need to calm down the guy's excruciating pain. Alex knew what the guy had to sacrifice just to go against them. Alex didn't have to, since it was the guy's decision in the first place, but the resolution on the guy's face and the yearning that Alex felt were very genuine and that was what touched Alex.
"I'm battling with personal reasons at the moment, and it's much harder than I thought. It's a different battle that I need to take care of my own. I'm sorry,"
The guy shook his head and let go of Alex's hand. That handshake meant the world to him. His idol defeated him fair-and-square. He was happy that he had the chance to go against Alex. Deep down, he knew he couldn't beat Alex and that wasn't such a bad thing for him. He looked at Alex with amazement in his eyes, silently cheering Alex on.
"Alright." he grinned.
"You better head off and start getting the punishment for losing." the guy scoffed before laughing it off.
Of course Alex would know. She- nah, they know how the pros work. The guy thought to himself. He placed both of his hands in his pockets and walked away with a content sigh.
Alex was given a trophy as an award. Gevia couldn't help but admire Alex in the audience. Alex was shining. Alex raised the trophy and the audience responded with another loud cheer.
"Alex! Alex! Alex!"
Just then, Gevia remembered what Alex said. He poked Joshua's arm, making Joshua hastily turn to Gevia. Joshua leaned in.
"What?" he screamed, trying to overrule the shouts of the audience.
"I need to go!" Gevia shouted back, a vein popping on the side of her neck. Her voice sounded hoarse from screaming all the time.
"Oh! Alright! I'll see you tomorrow!" Joshua said.
"Later!"
Gevia ran away as fast as she could. She didn't know what Alex could ever ask from her. Alex had already fingered her mercilessly, Gevia could already think of the other things that Alex could ask. But then, as if Alex had a god's timing beside them always, they managed to find Gevia and drag Gevia somewhere.
"HOW DID YOU-" Alex smirked, cornering Gevia on the wall. Their faces inches from touching. Eyes looking at each other and with lust.
Alex was looking at Gevia like Gevia was some prey that Alex could eat any time. Alex inched their bodies closer, the heat that their bodies were radiating was felt by each other. The scents of the two colliding, forming one heavenly scent. Gevia's mind was getting fuzzy. Her body reacted, sending her signals that she needed Alex's touch.
"You can't run away from me, baby."
