Third Person's P.O.V
"I can't give you anything solid at the moment, Gevia." Alex caressed Gevia's left cheek using their thumb. The two stared at each other's eyes, absorbing what feelings were inside.
They were the only ones in the infirmary, sharing the moment that they both needed. Gevia held onto Alex's waist, not wanting to let Alex go. It had been so long since Gevia was in Alex's presence. Gevia admits that she missed Alex, and that hole inside her heart was finally gone.
But a different pain was inside.
Wait? Solid? Give me what? Gevia couldn't help but ask herself. Gevia understood that Alex was being vogue because Alex didn't want to tell Gevia yet. As much as Gevia wanted to ask, she couldn't. The question of who Alex was to her lingered, and vice versa. Because of that, Gevia was holding herself back.
Gevia's tear-strained face, puffy lips and reddened cheeks were something that Alex hated, even more so if Alex was the reason. They were sure that they wouldn't be able to make Gevia cry. It was something that they were confident about, but today, today was not it. The reason for Gevia's tears was Alex and Alex hated it.
Gevia decided to shrug off what Alex said. Gevia broke the hug and was embarrassed to see Alex's clothes. It was wet from all the crying that Gevia made.
"I'm sorry. Your shirt is all ruined because of me." Alex giggled.
"You feel bad again?" Gevia nodded her head, adorably in Alex's eyes.
It had been a while since I talked with her. Alex thought.
"Do you want to make it up to me?" Gevia knew what was going to happen next. It always started with that line. After that, Alex would ask her about things. Gevia was sure that Alex would ask something s****l from her since it had been a while since they had done it.
Gevia silently gulped.
"Yes," Gevia answered in an airy way. She placed both of her hands behind her hand, feeling her insides scream Alex's name.
"Can you buy me ice cream then?"
"Huh?"
Gevia was surprised that Alex had asked for something innocent. It didn't feel like it was Alex that was with Gevia. Perhaps it was Aeron, and Gevia thought of Aeron as Alex. The subtle demeanor and the gentleness were unlike Alex. Alex didn't feel like Alex to Gevia.
"I want some ice cream." Alex said, grabbing their bags and carrying them both on each shoulder.
"It's Autumn?" Gevia stated.
Alex started walking away and exited the infirmary. Gevia followed closely behind though. The students were surprised to see them both together and, with Alex carrying both of their bags, rumors were bound to spread. It was their first time appearing in public together, side by side. They weren't uncomfortable, but it was a given that it was a surprise.
"I like ice cream when it's cold out." Alex simply stated, with no hidden meaning.
"I, I see." although it didn't make any sense to Gevia, she let it be.
"Let's go to the hospital first." Gevia said, confusing Alex.
"What? Why?"
"The nurse said that your stitch reopened and it needed to get done again. She stopped the bleeding, but she was in such a hurry to actually stitch it up again. Alejandro was calling for her." Gevia calmly told Alex. Alex's eyes shifted from gentle to cold in a split second.
"A'ight," was what Alex said.
From afar, Aeron was looking at them. Aeron was objectively jealous of Alex. There were things that Alex had that Aeron didn't, excluding fame and legality. There was someone that Aeron had eyes on for a very long time, and it was Gevia. Aeron had a story with Gevia, but Gevia didn't remember it.
Even with that said, Aeron held onto that little hope inside her heart that Gevia might still remember it. Aeron was after Gevia for a very long time, but she wasn't visibly making it known to Gevia. She had planned things out, but unfortunately, as if her relationship with Alex as their twin was being meddled with, they liked the same girl.
"Just you wait, Alex. Just you wait."
After Alex got their wound stitched up again, they both proceeded to the nearest ice cream shop. Gevia kept on asking Alex if they were okay or if the stitching hurt. Alex was appreciative of Gevia's thoughtfulness, but it put Alex in an awkward position. Nobody cared for them in all their life. It had always been Alex and Alex alone.
"I'm fine after some ice cream," was Alex's reply every time.
They parked the car and went to the ice cream shop. Alex ordered cookies'n cream while Gevia looked at Alex's ice cream. Drooling at the sight of the perfect ice cream.
"What- what's wrong?" Alex asked.
"Is that your favorite flavor?" Gevia asked, pretty sure that Alex didn't like sweet stuff. The baffling truth was that Gevia was right.
"No, I don't like overly sweet stuff." Gevia's eyebrows met, indicating the question of 'why'.
"Then why get that?"
Alex smirked. It was an obvious process of conversation for Alex. The way that the statements and expressions were aligned to Alex's planned out scenario in their head, the victory was seized.
"So you get to order another ice cream." the confusion was even more evident when Gevia's face scowled, unsure of what their conversation was really about.
It was not a difficult question for Alex to answer complicatedly. There was literally nothing behind Gevia's question.
"And why do I have to do that?"
The staff looked at them with loving eyes. She thought that they were a couple, flirting with each other. The atmosphere definitely felt like a romantic one in the staff's eyes. She was touched to see such a pure couple in front of her, and with great visuals too. She felt like she had been visited by two mythical creatures worthy of the compliment 'gorgeous'.
Alex and Gevia forgot about the staff's presence and continued unconsciously flirting. Alex leaned in and whispered the cheesy words,
"So that if you want it, you have to beg for it." Gevia quickly pushed Alex's face away, embarrassed that Alex had the guts to say that.
"Third person embarrassment. Don't talk to me."
In the end, Gevia ordered the same flavor to shoot down Alex's plan. The actual scenario that was supposed to happen, that Alex had planned, was not possible anymore. Alex made it up, and now Alex ruined it themselves.
"There's a park there. Let's go." Gevia nonchalantly invited the sour Alex, who was still pouting. Alex sighed, admitting defeat before following Gevia.
But before Alex followed Gevia, Alex went inside the store again to buy water and ran to where Gevia was. Alex was so stealthy that Gevia didn't notice their presence disappearing and coming back. They circled the park before deciding to sit down. It was a small park for animals. There were owners accompanied by their dogs, but there weren't a lot.
"I have always wanted a dog," Gevia said out of nowhere. Alex and Gevia ate their ice cream, licking here and there.
"You don't want to get one?"
"I feel like I don't deserve one." Gevia was speaking from the core, and even though Alex didn't know what Gevia's life was, they knew that it wasn't at all that innocent and saintly.
Because Gevia was born into a mafia household. Just on that basis, Gevia's life wasn't a life that everyone wanted to live. It was a life of killing, and murder, and pain, and injuries. Infliction to others was a necessary sin in order to survive. Alex understood where Gevia was coming from.
"I don't think an innocent dog has to live like that."
From a distance, Gevia's eyes wandered to a dog and a young owner. They were playing with Frisbee, and the dog was trained, catching and running after it with ease. The child was exceptionally happy.
"I'm sure your dog would love you the same."
"You're not sure."
"Gevia, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz may be bad because he's a villain, and a bad husband, but he's a great father."
"Did you just-" Gevia turned to Alex.
"Yes, yes I did. It's accurate though." Gevia giggled.
"Yeah, it is."
The two ate their ice cream silently. Somehow, Alex's words woke up something inside Gevia. The desire to do good, not for all, but for those people that were significant to her life. Gevia smiled, her chest feeling lighter and feeling less burdened.
"It's supposed to be me that's comforting you." Gevia hissed angrily. Disliking what the outcome had become. Alex laughed out loud and gave Gevia a pat on the head. The skinship made Gevia feel at ease.
"Well, now it's the other way around. What are you gonna do about it?" Alex provoked Gevia, knowing full well that Gevia isn't the type to back down when provoked.
"There,"
Gevia smudged ice cream on Alex's face, causing Alex to stop teasing and stop moving overall.
"You can't be for real?" Alex said, horrified at the stickiness that was about to come.
"Ooh, I am."
The two spent the remaining of the afternoon chasing each other with ice cream.
