Sports Event (3)

Third Person's P.O.V "Ladies and gentlemen! Today marks the first day of the sports event held by your almamatter!" the crowds cheered as the MC excitedly talked into the mic. The blaring music made its way even to the entrance of the school, deafening those who were sensitive to the sound. The school's yard was packed with students. Everyone was excited about seeing their favorite players. Everyone gathered, cheered and some pushed another student out of the way. Gevia and Josuha were not in the yard though. They were at the cafeteria, munching on. That seemed to be their go-to for every mood. Their eating meant that they chose food rather than excitement from others. They were the only ones in the cafeteria, and they seemed to like it. "Oof, it's so peaceful when it's just us two," Gevia commented, her mouth full of veggies. Gevia ordered water and ceasar salad. She wanted something light since it was still early in the morning. She ate and ate, not bothering about her poise at all. She looked and felt disgusting in her eyes, eating like a pig, but that wasn't the case at all. She remained majestic and she was not one to disappoint when it came to food. "I know, right. I can't even imagine something this peaceful when it comes to school-related stuff." Joshua giggled, feeling as if they were in a magical moment wherein it was only the two of them that existed and they had all the food and time in the world. "Taking a break from school feels so wonderful. No books-" "No lectures," Joshua added, cutting Gevia's words short. "No nagging classmates," "Oh! That part is heavenly! But there's no Alex for you." Gevia stopped eating for a moment, thinking that Joshua might have caught up in Gevia's little secret when it came to Alex. Joshua erupted in laughter, catching Gevia off-guard. "No need to react that horrifyingly. I was just joking." Joshua clarified, making Gevia sigh in relief on the inside. "You almost got me there. Pfft, why would I ever look at that doofus? Pfft," Gevia acted as if it was nothing and shrugged it off. "Well, it would really be nice if Alex and you hooked up." Gevia always wanted to ask Joshua why he was so persistent on the whole enemies to lovers kind of thing. Although Joshua wasn't far off from hitting the jackpot, he was still not told the truth. This was Gevia's chance to actually do it- to ask Joshua. "Why are you so hell-bent on this enemy to lovers kind of thing?" Joshua hums, thinking about it for a second. He almost forgot about why he wanted that to happen to Gevia. But he was reminded of something. He smiled, poking at his food on his plate, looking so solemn. "I guess I see something in Alex that I know you would love, and the same goes for Alex as well." "That I would love?" Gevia asked, confused about what Joshua meant. "Mhm, something that only you could benefit most than everyone else." Gevia thought about it for a second. The only thing she understood about herself was the part that she was willing to become Alex's pet when it came to s*x. And when it came to Alex, the part that Alex only wants to touch Gevia. That was premium in Gevia's point of view. The thought that no one else could touch Alex but her. "I still don't understand," Gevia answered honestly. She's been in constant questions about herself. Always unsure of everything when it came to Alex and herself. Always unsure of what her feelings were. Unsure of what to answer if ever she was asked things about Alex. She doesn't have the slightest clue. "Maybe you're looking at things at the wrong angle." Gevia shook her head, still confused. "I still don't get it, but okay." Gevia was almost ready to spill everything to Joshua, but then she remembered the reason why she was hiding the truth in the first place. Speaking of hiding, why is Alex hiding from everyone else? Gevia thought to herself. Another mystery, another set of questions, another unknown. "Alright, we have fifteen more minutes before the games begin." Joshua hurriedly shoves the remaining of his food inside his mouth, almost choking in the process. Gevia laughed, grabbing and unlocking Joshua's water bottle before giving it to him. Joshua coughed, harshly patting his chest to, at least, force the food to go down. He grabbed the water bottle and downed the water so fast that his chest hurt. He endured the momentary pain before heaving a sigh of relief. He slumped in his seat, grunting. "Slow down, you're going to die." Gevia laughed and finished her own food before cleaning up and standing up. "Let's go?" Gevia asked. "Yeah," Joshua and Gevia made their way to the first venue, which was the soccer field. Joshua felt his stomach tied in knots by what he saw. He anticipated seeing the person, but he wasn't prepared when their eyes met. He accepted the fact that they weren't going to cross paths anymore, but today was a different experience. A different kind of fate. Joshua pursed his lips, followed Gevia to where Gevia wanted to sit.. The person kept on looking at Joshua, hoping for at least a greeting, but Joshua did never look back to smile nor wave. "Are you okay?" Gevia asked. The solemn expression was now back on Joshua's usually happy face. Joshua put on a fake smile, reaching up to his ears. The crowd was big, and everyone was noisy. Gevia had to shout to Joshua in order for Joshua to hear Gevia. "Yes, I'm okay." Joshua answered cheerfully. But Gevia knew something was wrong. Gevia remembered that expression. That expression is missing someone in your life. That expression of loneliness and pain. Of course, Gevia also understood that Joshua was not ready to reveal the demons that were hunting him. She accepted that and was willing to wait for Joshua if ever Joshua ever felt like telling Gevia everything. She didn't want the same thing to happen to Joshua when those jocks were all over him when they were eating in the cafeteria. "Let's sit there!" Gevia pointed at somewhere that was near the bleachers of that said person. Fuck, f**k, f**k. Joshua repeated inside his head, quickly coming up with an excuse to not sit there. "Gevia! Let's sit somewhere else." Joshua smiled shyly. "Eh? Why?" "Well, I wouldn't want the ball to go straight into my face, nor yours. That would be too painful." Gevia thought about it for a second before agreeing. "Alright. You pick the seats." Once the two of them were settled and had a good view of the game, they also bought snacks. They wanted to enjoy their leisure time and they didn't want to waste seconds without eating. Of course, Gevia bought enough for two people without informing Joshua. When Gevia handed Joshua the food and soda, Joshua shyly shook his head. "Oh, no! Please, I'm okay." "Take it or I'm gonna be mad. Join me. I don't want to be the only one getting fat." Gevia winked at Joshua and Joshua couldn't help but feel secure. "Road to chubbiness." Joshua made a toast and they both clinked their sodas. The game immediately started. Gevia felt as if someone was staring at her from behind. She tried to ignore the stare, but the stare felt a familiar kind of different. It was insistent, Gevia's thoughts. Gevia decided to give that stare a chance and looked behind her. Alex was there with a sweet smile- not a smirk. Gevia's heart started beating rapidly. Alex waved at Gevia and no one saw Alex- nobody saw their exchange. Gevia smiled and turned back again, enjoying the match. It was a different exchange. In public, nonetheless. They weren't hiding and that was enough for Gevia to panic inside. "You look red." Joshua shouted. Everyone was cheering as someone scored a goal. "It's hot!" Gevia lied. "True!" Joshua agreed and went back to watching the match. Gevia felt the stare again, but this time, it wasn't as insistent as before. She didn't understand how she understood the meaning of the stares, but she kind of did. She smiled to herself, not being able to keep up with the game, and just felt comfortable under Alex's stare. The world seemed to have stopped for both of them, allowing one to stare and allowing the other to feel the stare. Nothing else mattered except for the two of them. Somehow, their hearts were content with what was happening. Though it was only a minimal exchange, it still meant a lot to them. Still as good as ever. Joshua thought to himself, smiling bitterly. He tasted pain. The smile on the person's face made Joshua smile, but it wasn't happiness. Maybe letting you go was the smartest thing I ever did. Joshua thought to himself. Witnessing the person's happiness was enough to make Joshua think that everything wasn't all for nought. That his pain was exchanged with happiness, although not on his side. Joshua was proud of himself for being capable of ending such a wonderful thing. It wasn't you and me in the first place. It was always you. Joshua reminded himself. "And he scored again!" the MC shouted, roaring the crowd to an even louder roar. There were two fleeting emotions at the moment, and they weren't realized by them. The pain and happiness were colliding, but both in hiding.
