Third Person's P.O.V "Team Secret wins!" the MC repeatedly announced. Everyone cheered except for the four people that were feeling two different things at the same time. After the game, Joshua excused himself. "Where are you going?" Gevia asked, still feeling Alex's stare boring into her bare skin. "Just the rest room. That soda did me good." Joshua smiled and went without waiting for Gevia's reply. Joshua disappeared in the sea of crowds. His smile slowly disappears as he creates distance between him and Gevia. He didn't bother looking ahead. He wanted his feet to take him to wherever his feet wanted to take him. He didn't care at this point and just wanted to be alone. His chest was hurting so badly that it caused him to have trouble breathing. His feet dragged him to a special tree behind the school. It was their special tree. A place that he almost forgot- forced to forget. His heart longed for something that he threw away. He looked up at the tree. It was a great day. The sun didn't hurt, but it wasn't exactly cold either. The birds were chirping and the wind was brushing his hair soothingly. He sighed. "I waited for you." the familiar voice started Joshua. Joshua jumped, but then immediately felt a pair of strong arms wrap around his upper torso. The familiar feeling of 'home' made Joshua teary-eyed. As much as Joshua wanted to turn around and hug the person back, he stopped himself. He gathered his courage and unlocked the person's arms and stepped away from his 'home'. It hurt Joshua. He could imagine what kind of face the person was making when Joshua stepped away from the hug. "Joshua," the person's soothing voice almost knocked Joshua's walls down. But Joshua remained calm, refusing to listen. "My feet brought me here. I had no intentions of reconciling." Joshua harshly spat and walked away, not bothering to turn around and did a double take. Joshua felt his tears run down his cheeks. He didn't care if there were people watching him cry his eyes out. He felt as if he had dug out his own grave. "I didn't even get to say congratulations." Joshua shook his head, talking to himself. "NO. This is better. Why'd I have to go there?" Joshua scolded himself. Joshua went to the restroom and groomed himself back. He waited until his eyes weren't red anymore from crying, before regrouping with Gevia. He wore his usual mask of smiling and happiness. He faced the day head on. "Gevia!" Joshua excitedly greeted Gevia and ran to where she was. "Where do we go next?" Gevia asked. Yeah, this is better. Joshua said to himself. "Hmm? Did you know that Alex joined E-Sports?" Joshua asked. Gevia faked as if she didn't know and she didn't care. "And what of it?" The two of them were pretending. "I want to see how good she really is." Joshua said, grinning and dragging Gevia to where the venue was. Everyone was curious as to how good Alex was. Alex hadn't entered any kind of competition of the same sort. It was always academically involved competitions. Everyone heard and everyone was coming. Even those that were from a different school were coming just to see how good Alex was. It was news to everyone that Alex had entered. Alex was famous enough to fill the entire venue. "It's packed." Gevia said, looking around. Joshua scoffed, proud of Alex for attracting such attention. "Of course. If you entered one, the whole thing would be packed as well." Gevia shook her head. "I doubt it." Gevia was aware of her bitchy reputation and she was proud of it. Nobody was minding her and giving her a hard time. "I reserved our seats!" Joshua drags Gevia to where the seats were. "There's a reservation? The f**k?" Joshua laughed. "Well, they assumed that Alex would sell, so yeah. They did this." Gevia scrunched her nose in disbelief. "Wow, just wow." at the end of the day, they were all guinea pigs. "They didn't force Alex to enter the competition though. They found their seats and they both took their seats, looking around. Gevian noticed that they were close to the big screen. It was Gevia's first time sitting and witnessing E-Sports. It looked cool to Gevia. With the red, blue, yellow and green lights. The lights radiated neon-like auras despite them being just regular colors due to the darkness of the place. "Oh? Alex entered by herself?" Gevia asked. "Yep, I heard the reason why though." Gevia giggled. "You and your gossip." "b***h, this ain't gossip. I heard them talking." Joshua crossed his arms and legs, proving his point that everything about his stories wasn't all gossip. That piqued Gevia's interest. "What could Alex's reason be?" "Alex was pissed that even though we were scholars, the school was still asking us for things." "Things?" Gevia wasn't sure how the system worked in their school. "Well, things that we can't really specify. Alex somehow found out about them and was pissed. She said she didn't like how the school was running things." Wow, Alex sure is sticking her nose in places that she shouldn't. But it's admirable. Gevia thought to herself. "Uh-huh, and?" "The school said that if Alex wants to, she could do those things for us instead." "But that would mean that everyone would be suspicious of how it paid off." "Exactly. So Alex thought of using herself to earn the money and help us. She knew she would sell." Joshua clicked his tongue on the roof of his mouth. "Isn't that smart of her," Gevia complimented. "I don't know if Alex really knows how to play though, or if this is really just for show." "I'm not worried about that. What I'm worried about is how you got the tickets?" Gevia raised her eyebrows, suspicions rising. Joshua shrugged. "I don't know. I had two tickets in my bag when I came home yesterday." It only occurred to Gevia that it must've been Alex that gave Joshua the tickets. Since no one really knew of their situation and somehow, Alex knew that Joshua didn't know about anything. That concluded that if Gevia had tickets and if she were to give them to Joshua, that would spill everything out. Gevia smiled upon that realization. "I see." "You're not putting up a fight?" Joshua asked. "Nah, I've dragged around all day long. I'm too tired for that." Joshua laughed, nodding his head. "Ladies and gents! As you may have heard, we have a special competitor! You know their name!" "Their?" Joshua asked Gevia, but Gevia just shrugged. "But to tell you guys, they're not really new. They were number one in the game before, and was told to take a break after two years!" "I thought Alex was the only new competitor?" Gevia asked. "That's what I heard too." "Their?" "This special guest will not participate in the actual games, but will serve as the final boss of the game!" Girls started to scream Alex's name, cheering out Alex's name. The crowd was going berserk. "This special guest attends this school! With head held high, and in constant competition with another on another field, give it up for Alex Samson!" Alex appeared from behind the screens, waving their hand with a smile on their face. The girls cheered even louder. Alex's visuals blessed everyone's eyes. While Alex was waving their hand, their eyes looked at where Gevia was and smiled even brighter. Gevia can't help but feel her heart beat faster. Alex under the lights showed a different kind of vibe to Gevia. As if Alex belonged under the limelight. "Alex Samson! Single! A top at everything, ahem, even you know! Non-binary is a snatcher of anyone's heart! Men, you better watch out or your girls will fall for Alex's charms!" "Non-binary?" Joshua pondered. "I didn't know that Alex was non-binary." "Holy s**t, and we've been using 'she/her' all this time." Joshua covered his mouth, feeling embarrassed. "Shouldn't have assumed that Alex was a lesbian above all things." Gevia shook her head, disappointed in herself. "Let the games begin!" The game was fairly entertaining for everyone. It was a heated battle, but the main event was yet to happen. While in the middle of the game, Gevia receives a text from an unknown number. Come see me backstage. "Can you excuse me for a sec?" Even though it was from an unknown number, Gevia got the feeling that it was from Alex. Her heart rate started speeding up just from thinking that it was from Alex. "Sure! Be fast! It's almost Alex's turn!" Gevia nodded and almost ran to where backstage was. She turned and turned, ran and ran until she saw a sign 'backstage'. She caught her breath and entered. It was darker and the path was narrow. She had a hard time looking at where she was going, but when she felt a hand on her hand, she felt at ease. After a few walks, the path slowly lit up and there was a door with Alex's name on top. Gevia looked at the person in front of her. The physique was of Alex's and their hands were still holding each other. Gevia blushed and looked elsewhere. They went into the room. It was dimly lit but they could still figure out each other's faces. Alex turned around and smiled. "You came." Alex whispered into Gevia's ear. "Someone was insistent. Providing me with tickets and all." Alex giggled. Gevia whimpered under Alex's touch. "Who might that person be?" The soft butterfly kisses left on Gevia's neck deemed Gevia weak on her knees. Gevia grabbed Alex's arms and held on for dear life. "It's almost time. Why did you want to see me?" Gevia closed her legs, mustering up enough strength to just stand up in front of Alex. "A goodluck," Alex whispered, nibbling on Gevia's earlobe. "Mhmm," Gevia moaned. "And why did you come here?" "I-" Gevia couldn't answer. Alex smirked, knowing. "Alright. If I win that, you owe me something."
