School Ruckus (4)

Gevia's P.O.V Fortunately for me, the captain's limo finally arrived, saving me from that dreaded conversation with Joshua. I do want him to know everything. To tell him everything, but in due time. I still need to figure out s**t. I don't want to spout nonsense. He's the only friend that I have. Oh, I forgot about Aeron. Are we even friends? Speaking of Aeron, I wonder if she's okay. I haven't heard from her since yesterday. See? This is why we're not friends. I think. Not even a text saying that she got home safe. Even just that, and there's nothing. Alex opened the car door for me and got inside, before getting inside themselves. Then Joshua got in, then the captain. I snicked at Alex before looking outside. We were on our way to some fancy restaurant that had just opened. "Are you sure you want to go and eat there?" Joshua asked in a tiny voice. "This motherfucker wants to eat at newly opened restaurants," Alex stated. Alex was talking with familiarity. My guess was right. They knew each other before. So what was their story and how come they're being so hostile towards each other now? I ignored all of them while we were in the car. I was thinking of some things that didn't need thinking. We arrived quite fast, or was I zoning out the entire ride? "We're here," I wouldn't even have known if Alex hadn't poked my arm. "Oh, okay." I responded. We went inside the restaurant and I immediately had the need to go to the restroom. "What about your order?" the captain asked. "Surprise me." I said before leaving the table. I went to the restroom and locked myself in there. I checked my phone to see if daddy had sent me a message, asking what I was doing in school, but instead, I received something else. It was from an unknown number. I was skeptical about opening it since spam messages are famous at the moment, but something inside me pushed me into opening it. It was a screenshot of a conversation. My eyes couldn't focus. Every message was something to look at. The more I read, the more confused and out of it I was. What the hell was going on? I got out of the restroom with an angry expression on. I went back to where the others were and they were scared. The obvious pissed look on my face was there. "What- did something happen?" the captain asked, putting his phone down on the table. I couldn't tell the captain and Alex because Aeron had said that her existence was a secret. Even though that message could almost pass as a 'maybe', I was still not sure. I needed evidence for me to actually believe it. "I need to talk to Joshua real quick." Joshua understood that I didn't have the patience to wait, so he immediately stood up and came to me. I walked out of the restaurant. The night welcomed my naked eyes, almost blinding me in reverse. Joshua shifts disturbingly beside me, scratching the back of his elbow. I fished my phone from my pocket and gave it to him. He took it and read it. The more he read, the more his eyebrows connected. "The f**k?" he pouted his lips, re-reading everything to make sure that he read it right. "I'm not sure if that's accurate though, or if it's edited. But it sure does sound like Aeron." Joshua gave me my phone back. "You bet it does. Motherfucker. If that really is true, I'm going to be pissed. I wonder what her reason would be. I hope it's enough to cover how stupid it was to do it." Joshua facepalmed himself. I sighed. "I didn't think Aeron was a problem child." I thought Aeron was a decent human being that cared for others. I guess I was wrong. Maybe I judged Aeron too quickly. "Tell me about it. Quite a surprise too that she tagged people along." What goes through some people's minds is really unreachable and uncalled for. There was no need to fret over it, unless it came from Aeron herself. I need to know what caused her to do those things, and plan them with others. She's deliberately causing a mess to people who are not part of it. "Now I have lost my appetite." Joshua threw his hands in the air. "Chill. We still don't know if it's accurate or not." Joshua breathed in and out. "You're right. Let's just go inside first." We got inside and saw Alex and the captain talking to themselves without arguing. Oh, they could actually do it if they tried. They were at each end of the table, allowing Joshua and I to pick where we wanted to be seated. Joshua, out of context, pushed me to Alex's right side. I gave him a confused look, but he only answered with a snicker. "What-" Alex giggled, which made it even more confusing. "Oh, I see what's going on." the captain said with a knowing smirk. "If you three continue, I will leave right this instant." Alex grabbed my hand with puppy eyes, making my heart skip a beat. It was so loud that I swear I could hear it. There it was again. The butterflies inside my stomach are swirling happily. It felt weird, like it always does. "Don't leave. We're just joking." I wanted to poke Alex's eyes out for being too adorable for my liking. I slapped Alex's hand away, well, supposed to be, but the motherfucker didn't let go. "Fine. Don't joke like that." Why am I feeling like this? Is this actually love? No, I don't want to jump to conclusions. I'm a beginner at things like this, but I do read novels of love that conquers all. Love that proves forever does exist. I know, I know. I'm barely hanging on actual reality, but sometimes fantasies like those are what keeps us going. After the food arrived and we finally ate, shutting up the captain, all of us went back to school. Now that that was out of the way, I remembered that anonymous message. I gritted my teeth, trying hard to solve it. Was it the actual truth? Since we had no leads, thinking of that anonymity as one is a start. We would go in circles if we didn't start at anything. "Why the long face?" Alex asked. "I have a beautiful face, thanks." Alex pursed their lips, preventing a smart reply from coming out of that beautiful mouth. I giggled. "Just thinking of something." "What could that be?" I looked around, feeling the serenity of the atmosphere all of a sudden. The captain and Joshua were out of sight. Alex and I were the only ones here on the field. It used to be all green and grass, but damage was inevitable. Alex sat down on one of the benches and patted the seat next to them. I sat next to Alex, not thinking much about it. But my heart had a mind of its own. It started beating really fast. The thought that we were the only ones here made me feel weird. My imagination was running wilder and wilder, along with the beat of my heart going louder and louder. "Just something not so out of the ordinary," I replied coolly, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. It was hard keeping a secret from Alex, especially a secret as big as knowing that Alex has a long-lost twin who grew up in secrecy. Keeping my mouth shut was my utmost priority at the moment. But how do I confide in Alex without actually confiding in them? "Your wording just made me more intrigued." I clicked my tongue on the top of my mouth. "Ah, yes. It's a bit of a personal issue." I need to avoid the subject, otherwise I'll spill it. I gave my word to Aeron that I was going to keep this a secret from Alex. Also, that Aeron knew of me and Alex talking behind everyone's back. That b***h knows too much as well. "How personal? Aren't our personal lives interconnected?" Why won't you not smartmouth me right now, Alex? Can you go one second without wanting to win the argument? I asked myself, getting frustrated. My patience was running out quickly with Alex constantly egging me to spill. "Can't you shut up for one goddamn second? You're pushing me." "To a corner, if I may." Alex added a s*x joke, making me push Alex away. "That isn't the time right now." "Yo, chill. I'm just easing out the atmosphere. You're way too tense." I sighed, but at the same time slap Alex. "Shut up then." I rolled my eyes at Alex, making sure that Alex saw me. The motherfucker whined. Was I with a toddler? "So, you still can't tell me?" I opened my mouth to say something when someone else beat me to it. I froze instantly the moment I heard her voice. Aeron's pitchy voice visited my eardrums. "Because I told her not to." without turning around, I could tell that Aeron was smiling. I could hear the smile in her tone. What an odd way to know, but I do. Alex turned around before sitting perfectly still. I bit my lower lip, nibbling on it due to the nervousness I was feeling. I was scared to turn around and look at Alex's expression. An exact replica of you is right in front of you. Without any past meetings, you're bound to get shocked. "The f**k?" Alex murmured under their breath. I pursed my lips, not wanting to say anything. I'm scared that Alex might want to avoid me after this. "Hello, Alex. It's not nice meeting you." Aeron sat beside me. Now, I was sandwiched between the two. I could feel the tension growing between them. I could feel it in my bones. "I could say the same thing to you," Alex, aside from freezing moments ago, said in confidence. "What are you doing here, Aeron?" "You both know each other?" Alex asked, eyeing me suspiciously. Aeron laughed. "Don't blame her. This is all on me, Alex Samson. I'm your twin, Alex Samson."
