In The Dark

1513 Words
Third Person's P.O.V Alex felt that someone was following them. Lurking in the dark, and eyeing their every movement. Alex had a feeling that it would come, but Alex didn't think that Alejandro would be on their tail so early. It was getting hot in Alex's head. They had to rush. Whatever plan Alex had was, they had to act on it fast. "b***h," Alex murmured under their breath. Not liking their situation, Alex needed a plan to somewhat fake that Gevia and Alex weren't on speaking terms. Alex needed to backup their answer to Alejandro, otherwise a war would occur. But in order to do that, Alex had to temporarily cut ties with Gevia again. And when we were on the good part. f**k. Alex thought. They were already in a sour mood and everything else wasn't cooperating with Alex. Alex's only solitude was Gevia, ONLY Gevia. But circumstances weren't allowing Alex to go to Gevia and seek refuge. Alex snapped their fingers. "If I must, then I will." The next few days, Alex was busy planning things on their end and wasn't able to pay attention to class, not even to Gevia. As much as Alex wanted to talk to Gevia, feel Gevia's warmth again, they couldn't. It has been days already. Even Gevia was frustrated and annoyed. They're doing it again. Gevia thought. She didn't make a mistake with the pronouns this time. In class, Gevian noticed that Alex wouldn't pay attention to the lecture. If the teacher called upon Alex, Alex would be able to answer, but not as actively as before. Everyone noticed the sudden distance and absence of Alex, but no one dared to say anything. They knew Alex wouldn't dare say a word. All they knew was that Alex was troubled. It was written all over their face. The soft 'tsk' of Alex. The sudden frown. The visible scowl on Alex's handsome face. And Alex's movements. They were all being watched by everyone, including Gevia and the spy. Gevia, of course, wanted to approach Alex but there was no opportunity to do so. Alex was always in plain sight. And when on break, Alex wouldn't dare move from their chair. They'd stare off at space, looking at nowhere in particular. "The school's on edge with Alex's quietness." It was getting colder. The spring wind was now replaced with the autumn wind. Colder and the clouds were darker. Even the school was clouded with grief. As if the weather was in sync with Alex's mood. Nothing was the same. "How come one person is enough to change the whole school's mood?" Gevia couldn't get over the fact that Alex was influential enough to matter to the whole school. Ah, I should've known. Everyone went to their competition the other day. Gevia reminded herself that the seats were sold because of Alex. Alex had already made a name for themselves. "Bruh," Joshua said in a 'duh' matter. Gevia rolled her eyes, regretting that she had ever asked. "I was just kidding. It was a rhetorical question." "It's as if someone died in this kind of atmosphere." Joshua tied his shoelaces before looking at the dark clouds. Alex's senses were heightened, aware of the spy's lousy movements. The spy wasn't even trying to be subtle at this point. The spy was loud, breathing heavily as the spy tried to keep up with Alex's daily routine. One turn of a head and Alex thinks that they could see the spy. "Do you think Alex has a nice relationship with Alejandro?" Gevia had to ask. She wanted to know what their relationship looked like from an outsider's point of view. "Alejandro? That's Alex's dad, right?" Joshua asked, just to be sure. He doesn't trust his memories when it comes to names and people that he hasn't met yet. "Mhm," "I can't say for sure, since I haven't seen them together." Joshua gave an honest answer. "They have videos on the internet about those two. Conspiracy theories and shit." Joshua immediately looked it up on the internet and watched silently while Gevia looked at Alex from afar. Alex was sitting on a bench, looking down at their knees. Gevia scoffed when she noticed that someone kept on staring at Alex from the other end. So intently that it irritated Gevia. Who does that girl think she is? Geiva thought to herself. The wind blew, snapping Alex back to reality. "b***h," that and 'f**k' were the only words that Alex kept on saying whenever Alex snapped back to reality. Alex stood up and walked away, not noticing Gevia and Joshua. When Alex walked away, the girl that was staring at Alex followed behind without inching the gap between them. "f*****g cunt." Gevia whispered to the wind. "Alright, I saw some of it. And all I can say for sure- no, all I can ask is...." Joshua inhaled, snaring his nostrils, enlarging the two holes. "... ARE THEY EVEN RELATED BY BLOOD?" Gevia thought so too. "You think they're not related?" It was an odd thing for them to be so distant. Of course, in the mafia world where guns and fights, blood and death were present, one would be accustomed to the coldness of the environment. But Alex and Alejandro were on a whole new level of distance. Even when Alex and Alejandro were beside each other or close to each other, neither of them would look at the other nor would initiate small talk. It wasn't for them. The both of them despised each other's presence. Alex doesn't know why Alejandro hates them though. That was always a mystery that Alex would never dare to unfold. Not even a single touch, or fatherly look. Not even a bond, even just a small bond. Alejandro provided Alex with money, and that was it. Not even Alejandro goes home. "I think they're total strangers. Bruh, are they? I mean, they're not even f*****g looking at each other! It's like they're avoiding each other!" Joshua looked at the video again, but this time, intently. Trying to catch even a glimpse of 'respect' from their eyes, but there was none. "It was quite funny too, when we had our dinner date." Joshua edged closer to Gevia, lending his ear. He wanted to know a bit about Alex and Alejandro from someone that actually saw them converse closely. Now, Joshua was intrigued. Such a cold stare could not have been backed up by a reason. A big reason at that. "You see, when we had our dinner date, Alejandro spoke to Alex as if Alex wasn't his child. Like, I mean, come on. The coldness in Alejandro's voice and the coldness of Alex's stare when Alex talked back. It was a whole ass level." Gevia remembered the night as if it only happened yesterday. It sent chills down Gevia's spine. "b***h, what? I'm now convinced that they're not actually related." Joshua sighed. Gevia looked at the palm of her hand, trying to read it as if she was reading Alex. There was no need for such a gesture, but she felt that she couldn't entirely visualize the whole thing if she wasn't looking at her hand. Joshua looked at Gevia's hand as well, confused about what Gevia was looking at. Gevia's callous-free palm shined, but not with sweat. "What are we looking at here?" Joshua asked with a pout on his face. "I'm visualizing Alex's life." "b***h, Alex's life, even if metaphorically speaking, won't fit on your tiny palm." "Tsk," Gevia closed her palm and glared at Joshua. Joshua put his hands up in the air, "Just sayin'," Gevia looked around, trying to spot Alex, but wasn't able to find the said person. "It's almost time for class. Let's go." Joshua dragged Gevia along with him. Alex took a detour when they were on their way to the classroom, trying to confuse the spy. They were skilled enough to actually confuse the spy and lose the spy in the process. Alex was determined to win this battle with their father. "I'm not going to back down now. I've tasted heaven. I won't let that go." Alex said to no one in particular. The determination on Alex's face was firm. Not a spec of doubt in their resolve. Alex went to the classroom, a few minutes late, but the teacher didn't mind. Even the teachers were aware of Alex's sudden change of mood. Even the principal was scared of Alex's prowess. If Gevia was scary, Alex was scarier when not in the mood. Alex proceeded to their seat as if nothing happened. The teacher continued the lesson awkwardly, ignoring the fact that she was scared of Alex. "A-alright, let's continue." the teacher stuttered. Fuck. I need to think of something fast, otherwise all of this will be in vain. Worst case scenario, I'll get killed by my own father. Alex was already trying to think of every possible way to stop the madness. But if someone knew of Alejandro's might, it would be Alex. I can't win this.
