Sophia’s POV "I, Boris Kopa, the renowned Alpha of Moonville pack, reject you weak omega, Sophia Woods, as my mate". My mate announced. The words cut through the thick air, hitting me extremely hard with the force of a physical blow. My chest pulled inward, tightening, and my knees buckled as if they could no longer carry up the weight of my body. I reached out, grasping at nothing, my vision blurring gradually as I struggled hard to stay upright. My heart pounded hard, my biggest fear had just happened. Each beat of my heart sent surges of pain through my body. I squeezed my chest in, my breaths coming in short, ragged gasps. Tears made my vision blurry, but i blinked them all away, reluctant to let them fall freely down my cheeks. “I can't believe this is all happening, Not again Sophia!” I mumbled under my breath, jolting my head in doubt. My mind reflected back to my past rejection and humiliations at home. Clinging to any excuse. maybe he was drunk, maybe there was some terrible mistake. I scanned the crowd, hoping someone would tell me this was all a cruel joke and it will soon be over. Before i could grasp the unfurling scene, Alpha Boris proclaimed Reyna, my cousin and only friend, as his mate in front of the pack. My face burned with shame, and i could feel the stares of everyone in the room like daggers. I wanted to shrink into myself, to perhaps disappear from their judgmental gazes. My eyes darted to the floor, unable to meet anyone’s look. Tears welled up and spilled down my cheeks, hot and relentless. I bit my lip to suppress a sob, my vision blurred as i watched my cousin stand beside him, her smile radiant. Could this be a nightmare or what? Can this be reality that my cousin steals my mate from me? "What is the meaning of this?" I managed to lament, desperate for an immediate explanation. "Listen Sophia, I owe you no explanation! If at all you must know, You are a tragic product of mistake and trust me, they've been living with regrets all their life wherever they are.” Boris insulted, Each word dent through the air, finding it's way into my already shattered heart. My shoulders slumped, and my legs trembled beneath me. I knew they saw me as weak, a pitiful figure amidst their strength, but I couldn’t bring myself to care. I focused on taking one shaky step at a time, each one feeling like an immense effort. "Tell me why Boris? W-why are you doing this to me? Is this how you want to hurt me? You promised you will never let anyone hurt me as long as you are alive and now you are the one hurting me.” I mewled, my voice barely audible. His eyes narrowed, I watched how his lip curled in a sneer. The cold fury in his gaze sent a shiver down my spine. I could practically feel the disdain radiating from him, a visible force that made me take an instinctive step back. "Sophia you are just a big mess and I can't pretend to love you anymore. You're also a dirty cheat! You should be happy I came out clean instead of playing with your feelings" Boris spat, his hands running around Reyna’s exposed shoulders. "What are you waiting for? Accept the rejection!" Reyna commanded, her mockery visibly writing over the smirk on her face. “Reyna, what are you saying? There must be a mistake somewhere.” “Sophia, the only mistake here is you! I thought I made it clear to you earlier.” Boris yelled. “I can't accept your rejection, you are my..” I sobbed. "Don't be stubborn here, obey your future Luna before you get punished for being stupid.” Boris Said, heartlessly sealing my fate as a rejected wolf right in front of the entire pack. I stood still Frozen, unable to walk or move an inch as I was still in shock. I felt the stares of the pack members roam all over my body, about piercing my heart I guess it's all over now, it's better I accept the rejection and move him than to be tagged as a begging wolf. "I, Sophia Woods, kindly accept your rejection this day.” I emitted with maximum composure. For a few seconds, there was a long loud silence in the pack "Why is everywhere so cold? Let's make merry! Let's continue the celebration!" Boris announced heartlessly, lifting his golden wine cup in a mocking toast with his new mate. With my arms wrapped around myself as if to stave off the chill.I couldn’t shake the feeling of being utterly alone and abandoned. I felt as if the world had abandoned and turned its back on me. I let out a loud scream as the agony was too heavy for me to carry. I felt my mental health being drained by each breathe I took. I'm losing it! Am I going crazy? The thoughts of how I would cope up in the pack loomed my brain. “I guess Boris was right after all. I have no wolf companion, I'm rejected, and then, to crown it all, my cousin Reyna, gets chosen as his mate. I must be a product of a mistake.” I wailed. My face was so hot, and my heart thumped so hard and loud that I could hear in my ears the sound of my heart thumping hard as I stepped forward to plead with Boris. He pushed me, I managed to pick myself off from the dirt. My legs felt like jelly, each step I took shaky. I kept my head tilted down, wishing that no one would see the tears surging down my pale face. I felt like I had been wounded brutally, but then there was no physical injury anywhere around my skin. “Guards! Take this Omega out of my sight! Beat her till she's out of breath.” Boris commanded. My eyes widened in shock, Two strong men grabbed me before I could make any move. They dragged me out of the scene into a dark dungeon. “You weak omega. You really thought the alpha would make you his Luna? Oh goodness,” said the first man, releasing his whip on me. I groaned in pain as the other followed suit with an iron rod, striking it at my back. I heard my bones crack, My breathe became heavy as my eyes widened. I cried out in pain, “P-p-please!!” I felt something bash on my head and suddenly everything became dark.
