The List
"Vote for King& Queen!! Ballots out at lunch! Homecoming is May 15, 7:30 pm, Freshmen don't be here at 7 and remember go Spartans! That is all" Mr.Henry said through the speakers.
I just think this is some kind of sick joke, I mean who in this damn school would like to be queen? Oh yeah, that's right, Trina Waters.
The school queen-bee.
She hates me. She likes to torment me most times. She's a real pain in the ass. Rumor has it that she has STDs. Some people are a real pain in the ass and some people you don't even want to mess with. Something can like happen to you.
Angelo Curtis.
Ring any bells? He's the girl's eye candy and guys dream goal to be like. Yes, I'll admit he's hot. But he's dangerously bad. I've heard people say he's in a gang or that he's been meeting up with drug dealers. There are so many rumors I don't know how he handles it.
He is a bad boy. Cliché I know.
He rarely talks, just like me. He keeps to himself. We never know what he's planning on us. He can just be thinking of ways to murder the whole entire school slowly but painfully. That sent shivers through me.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I said as I bumped into someone. Pushing my glasses up and putting a strand of my blonde hair behind my ear I looked up.
My breath hitched. My eyes went wide. I could feel the blood pooling on my checks. I had just bumped into Angelo Curtis. He stared at me with an annoyed expression.
"Move out of my way" He harshly said to me.
I stepped out of the way to let him throughout of the classroom soon after I followed in. "I'm sorry I'm late Mr.Hick, It will never happen again. "I muttered quietly to him as the whole class was working already. I had Honors Comm second. English to put it. We had an essay do in a month. About The Outsiders.
Well, anyways I'm Joe Hannah, 18 in senior year.I have blonde hair, green eyes, about 5'7, and I dislike school.Being in the National Honors Society (NHS) is fun, I guess. I have most of my credits already. The requirement is 64 credits. I participate in many events.
I just want the best on my resume.Getting into a good university is what I'm looking for. Dream University is Princeton!
I looked down at my page. Halfway done with the outsider's essay, I was glad. I usually do my work faster than any person and I'm always ahead.
"Okay class dismissed nice job today on working on homework have a great Friday" Mr.Hick said. I stood up and went to my 3rd-hour class AP Spanish, learning it was easy and difficult but it's good use.
"Buenas días clase, hoy vamos escribir cuentos , 50 puntos. Si no lo hacen van a necesitar qué ver me después de clase." Mrs.Romero spoke to the whole class. (TRANSLATION: Goodmorning class, today we are writing stories, 50 points. If you don't do it you'll see me after class. NO, I didn't use google, Spanish is my 1st language(: )
As I wondered in my thoughts what kind of story I should write, I had an urge to do something crazy. Like I should make a bucket list since it's my last year here. I'm a senior, I'm supposed to be having the time of my life.
Working on my story for the whole 30mins of class we had left I finished in no time. "Here Mrs.Romero, all done," I said as I handed her my sheet.
Soon class ended and we all made our way out the door all the students chatting and going different ways while I headed straight to my Study Hall to make my bucket list.
Smiling mentally to myself while I sat down at my desk I took out a notebook and started writing.
Senior Bucket List:
1.) Go to a high school party
2.) Get drunk
3.) Get into a fight(if I can find one lol)
4.) Trashcan a freshmen
5.) Prank someone
6.) Dye my hair
7.) Change my style
8.) Change my attitude
9.) All Nighter
10.) TALK TO ANGELO CURTIS
100.) BECOME BADASS
I looked at my sheet. Not much but I'll be adding more. Can't wait to start this.I mentally squealed! First on is Dye my hair from blonde to black!
"Mom! I'm home." I signed.
"Ah, dear so glad you're back. How was school, Joe?" She sweetly said to me.
"Great mom, but I was wondering if I could dye my hair? You know to be a lil extra since it's my last year in high school."
"Hm, I don't know Joe. Your father would not approve. What color?" She asked.
"Black."
"Absolutely not! Joe."
"But Mom-"
"No buts Joe. End of story. Your father would not approve and I especially do not approve of you dying your hair black! End of discussion!" With that, she turned on her heel and left.
You know what. Number 11 on my bucket list is now. Be rebellious. So guess what. I'm dying my hair black. I said I wanted to become badass. Well, this is my first official step. Running up to my room I got my money from my nightstand.
"No turning back Joe. It's now or never." Looking up and down myself in the mirror I decided third of becoming badass was definitely a change of style. No more baggy clothes.
New Joe Hannah is coming your way Liberty High. Watch out for the soon to be Hannah. Walking out my bedroom I slowly made my way to the front in hopes of my mother not hearing.
"Made it." I whispered feeling good.
~~
Walking to the Diamond salon took longer than I expected, but it doesn't matter. I want the most perfect hair I could get.
Walking inside, I felt the cool air hit me. "Yes, baby Jesus!"
"Excuse me miss? May I help you?" Said a lady that looked like she was in her mid-30s.
"Yes, I want to dye my hair." I had a smile on my face. No one is going to see this coming.
"Okay have a seat we'll be with you in just a moment."
I went and sat down on the chair. A young good-looking man came.
"What color would you like your hair to be dyed?" He asked, ruffling my hair around.
"Black. Black like my soul please."
—
Only a few hair washings and a lot of blow drying. My hair was done.
"Would you like a haircut?" He asked.
"Umm... yes. Surprise me."
Once he was finished he showed me the end results. Shoulder length hair with bangs and layers. I looked like a whole different person.
"Thank you" I said.
I paid and walked out.
Now it's times for a whole new set of clothes and the only place to buy that is the mall. As soon as I got there the first place I went to was PacSun.
Honestly the kind of style I'm looking for was bad b***h style like that edgy insta model type of look. One that will go unnoticed. At times like this I wish I had friends.
Forever 21 was trash, but I still bought lots of clothes. It's the fact that you see something cute and then you look at it more and noticed the stupid phrase on it. Wasn't too bad though. I got some cute crop tops, dresses, and jeans.
Journeys was so hard to shop at because of all the different shoes, but I settled with 2 pairs of vans, black and red checkered. Some crocs because why not they're comfortable and Nike slides.
At Zumiez I got a champion sweater, more overly priced skinny jeans, two thrasher t-shirts, and a cute little checkered crop top. Afterwards I hit up every females beloved store Victoria's Secret and Pink so y'all already know the deal.
After hours and hours of shopping. I finally had what I been needing badly. This will be a major boost to my confidence.
Arriving at home I thought about how I was going to sneak up to my room with all these bags and new hair. Even though I'm 18, I'm still very afraid of my mom. Like who isn't afraid of their mom?
"Okay Hannah you got this. Maybe if I sprint up the stairs no one will notice or maybe they're asleep."
Please god. Let them be asleep.
As soon as I opened the door I knew I was dead.
"Joe Hannah where in gods name have you been?! What on earth have you done to your hair?! Why did I receive a call saying if these transactions on your card are actually you?! You are in so much trouble missy!" She yelled at me.
"Chill mom! I can't be the same person no more! You have to understand please!" I yelled at her back. Honestly I don't care. New me. I have to think for myself now.
Completely ignoring her and walking right past her to my new life was what I need to do. If I wanna be independent and do things for myself I have to stop listening to my mother. She can't always be in control of my life. I'm 18!
So now when everyone sees me tomorrow they'll all maybe be surprised or just still ignore me, but what really matters, is that I see the change happening.
