CHAPTER EIGHTY-NINE MASON The room was still dim when I woke up, the early morning light was barely coming through the curtains. For a moment, I just laid there, not moving and not thinking. I relaxed in the warmth against me. The slow, steady rise and fall of her breathing, and the way her hand rested on my chest, like she belonged there, made me feel like I was a very lucky man who didn’t deserve any of it. I looked down, and took in her sleeping face. The usual fire and stubbornness were gone, replaced by peacefulness. She looked so small like this, curled into me, with her long lashes resting gently against her cheeks. I lifted my hand, hesitating for only a second before I brushed a loose strand of hair from her face. She didn’t shake. She was deep in sleep, unaware of the chaos
