"Success: Behind Me"
Success can be such a small, short-term goals, or overall life achievements, and for steps along the way. Self-determination—being able to make and act on important decisions in your life—is a measure of success for me. When did I say that I said I was successful? How did I overcome my fear, my being an introvert somehow to be successful? A lot of interesting stories I've read behind success. But one thing I'd like the most is 'mine'. Let me start this by introducing myself. I am Geralyn Puyot Ogao-Ogao, "king" for my nickname. Year 1993 to 1995, currently working as a housekeeper in Zamboanga City. He didn't go to secondary school because of poverty and lack of money and that's where he met my father. Unfortunately, my mother became pregnant at the age of seventeen. In March 1996, my mother returned home to Zamboanga Sibugay. Her brothers and father did not know that she was pregnant, they only found out when my mother gave birth to me. As soon as I was born, I wanted to be thrown out of the window. Because of that, he was not responsible for my mother. I realized that I didn't know my father. His name, his identity. As I grew up, I wondered why my last name was different from my mother's and my brothers', and why they were called papa. While I'm gone. I was not educated in kindergarten when I was only five years old. I wonder why again. Then I thought, I told my mom. "Mom, when I'm 7 years old, please enroll me in grade 1" I was seven years old and learned grade 1. That was the day I told myself, this is just the beginning. Because I graduated 1st grade and can write and read without the guide of my mother. My mom always says "I don't have money" and so does her new husband. Which is I never felt the love, the care of a parent for them. They always scolded me, pinched me, spoke badly of me. I chose that time. I am alone. Nothing I sympathize. The kind that everyone hates me for. Maybe because I don't have a father, my mother got pregnant early and they are not related to me. I cried every night at a young age. Unexpectedly, my aunt, my mother's sister, taught me in elementary school, she gave me everything I wanted. Every vacation, I go to my aunt to accompany her and help her with housework because she is also a housekeeper. I only come home when school is over and I bring my new school supplies. I just don't realize it, when I go home. They are still mad at me. My mother never sided with me whenever my stepfather and I had an argument. Instead, I will be scolded and angry even more. My mother never bought things for me. I was never given money. I'm just waiting for my aunt to send me money. Just in case, when it's there. They will also ask but, they say I live in their house. When I went to secondary school, my aunt still sent me to school. My step father and I quarreled more and more to the point that he started policing me. He will pass by me and suddenly grab me. I couldn't report it to my mother because I knew she wouldn't believe me. I was able to report but to my aunt. He was crying listening to my story. In my second year of high school, I was baptized in the Church of Christ which changed my whole perspective on life. I have changed my habit of answering because my stepfather and my mother are always scolding each other. When things break. I will immediately tell you why you have to buy that or can you buy that. I finished high school, even though he kicked me out, and before I graduated high school one of my motivations was that my step father told me that "I can't graduate from college, I will get pregnant soon" I told him "make sure you can revive your family and I am thankful to you" Right after I graduated from high school, I went to Zamboanga City and took a chance with my aunt. I applied for a scholarship at CHED under the leadership of Celso Lobregat. Since I didn't pass the admission test for the course I was going to take, I studied a drafting course first. I learned to paint and draw even if it was simple. After one year, I took the admission test again for the course I want which is Education. I did it all by myself. I passed and proceeded with my course. Encounter friendship and different tribes. For five years I did not come home to us. Until I graduated. Then I met the real father. Year 2018. I am very thankful to all the people I met who considered me family. Year 2018, after I graduated I worked as a tutor teacher, and that was only casual. While I was working there, I also reviewed for my board exam, just reduced my salary.
