Rena Schaaci, a lost rogue in The Lightcrown Claws Pack, searches for her brother who abandoned her in the dense forest and never returned. The incident left her without any family members.

Romeo Riley, a beta who relentlessly hunts rogues, has Rena Schaaci at the top of his list, especially after she ends up working in the palace kitchen. For years, his desire has been to eradicate all rogues from the face of the Earth, and Rena, his mate, is no exception.

Romeo knows that hurting Rena is equivalent to hurting himself, especially when Rena resigns herself to the situation. She chooses to erase all the dark memories and transforms into a new person.

The love between them is painful, a kind of love that can bring sadness to anyone reading their story.

Chapter 01: Shattered Hope
Rena, having spent nearly a decade in the palace, relished each day as a servant to Alpha Jonathan and Luna Irene, a couple beloved by the pack for their integrity and strong leadership. Amidst the happiness, whispers about a tragic incident involving Alpha Nickholas's twin, Nickley, surfaced. Nickley had been murdered by Cecilia Zera, the lover of his own brother, Alpha Nickholas. The heartbreak of losing a sibling in such a way left a deep scar. While lost in thought, Rena accidentally dropped a cleaned plate, creating a commotion in the palace kitchen. Bibi Morin, a stout woman in similar attire, berated her harshly. "I told you, Rena, work carefully!" she shouted. "I apologize, Madam. I'll clean up this mess," Rena replied, promptly picking up the broken pieces. Her response didn't quell Madam Morin's anger. The old woman even stepped on Rena's hand before leaving, and the other omegas refused to help. Wincing, Rena removed the glass shard embedded in her hand and took it to the sink to tend to the wound. Trying to hold back, an unwanted tear escaped. She didn't want to appear weak, especially in front of those who constantly gossiped about her. Swiftly wiping away the unwelcome tears, Rena acknowledged her status as an omega but saw no harm in protecting herself, especially her heart, after enduring mistreatment from the head chef and others for over nine years. *** “You're really incompetent at work, huh!” Her body was forcefully pushed, causing her forehead to hit the edge of the table, an instant throbbing pain. Quickly, she was forced to get up, and her neatly rolled black hair scattered. Her head ached as her hair was pulled tightly by Wendy, while others just watched without any intention of intervening. “What happened?!” Madam Morin, who suddenly appeared, forcefully pulled Wendy to stop the altercation. “She can't even clean the floor, Madam. I slipped because the floor was too wet.” Wendy explained the chronology of the incident with fiery tone. Those words made Rena's slanted eyes widen; she was sure she had dried it up, so why did Wendy slip? “Enough! Get back to work, everyone. And Rena, you won't have dinner anymore!” A severe punishment, who could resist? Again. A punishment that she felt was already ingrained. Then, Rena stared at the black sky illuminated by the moon. It wasn't entirely full moon yet, but its light was enough to replace the sun. Slowly, she closed her eyes to enjoy the weak stinging sensation. Werewolves like them always felt the electric shock flowing through their bodies when exposed to that light. “Don't you have any other job, besides sleeping on this park bench, huh!” The mockery entered Rena's ears. Quickly, she opened her eyes and gasped to find out who was standing in front of her. Not that she didn't have a job, but now it's time for the servants to have dinner, and she's in the middle of serving her punishment, right? “Be—Beta Romeo.” She lowered her head and hurriedly stood up to enter the mansion. “Forgive me ... I will go inside.” With hurried steps, Rena left Romeo. “What if I really reject you, Rena?” Rena's steps halted, and her shoulders trembled slightly. Rena held her chest in pain. Romeo had said it so many times, but why did the effect always feel the same? With a bit of a stagger, she empowered herself; Rena truly left Romeo alone with clenched fists. Rena entered her shabby room, a room that was only two by three meters with an extremely thin mattress. The building for the servants was separate from the palace. The house she occupied was actually luxurious, but Aunt Morin gave her a former warehouse room that was very stuffy. She stared at the white-colored ceiling. Beta Romeo always said that even though she had already felt the pain caused by his words too much. She knew the reason why he hated her because she used to be a rogue. Beta Romeo was a man who hated the rogue caste the most. How could he not? They could only ruin the peace and tranquility of the pack and turn it into chaos when they misbehaved. He, one of Alpha's trusted men to take care of the pack's peace, also served as Beta with all its affairs. It wasn't a trivial matter regarding duties and trust; Beta Romeo really did all those tasks very well without the slightest mistake. There was only one task that he couldn't do well, sterilizing the palace from the rogue who had been living here for years, Rena. Her eyes closed, eliminating all the shadows and pain that increasingly hit her stomach. *** “Darling, could you make me a semi-cooked omelette? Ah... yes, I mean soft on the inside.” Rena, feeling her hair being caressed, could only bow her head. She missed this touch. Like a mother's loving caress to her child. “Sure, Luna.” Rena quickly provided what Luna Irene wanted; she didn't want to make mistakes again, considering she was the troublemaker in the kitchen. Even though Luna Irene would never utter sadistic remarks that came out of her mouth, Rena still didn't want to disappoint. “What happened, and what's with your forehead?” Luna Irene uncovered the hair hiding the bruise. Rena immediately stepped back from the dining table and tidied her hair again. “It's nothing, Luna. I was just careless while working. Is there anything else you'd like?” Rena asked, changing the subject. “No, you can go and continue your work,” Luna Irene said, shaking her head. She would give Rena more time as she still didn't want to be open with her. *** "Bastard!" Romeo couldn't understand why there were so many rogues wandering in his territory. Somehow, they managed to escape despite the tightened security. "Danny, mobilize troops from the northern territory and herd them into one. I'll go to the west with Jack and Albert!" "All right, Beta." Getting ready. "Shouldn't we inform the Alpha first, Beta?" Danny asked. "Don't! Let's handle it ourselves. If there's something urgent and we can't handle it, we'll mindlink Alpha directly." Albert sighed in frustration; this problem had become quite complicated. But Beta didn't want to complain to the Alpha. Typical Romeo. "Jack, you scatter to the West with Albert and the others. I'll lead them there. I'm sure they won't escape." The others followed Romeo's instructions because the other warriors were confident in their Beta's abilities. "Let's make them play first before killing them," Romeo added with a sharp grin. Behind his friendly and companionable demeanor, he never joked when it came to disturbing his duties. Jade had taken over Romeo's robust body; the brown wolf split the forest. His face couldn't wait to play with his prey. The large body became faster over time, leaving flying dry leaves in its wake. His nose was too sensitive to catch the disgusting aroma. "I'm three kilometers in your direction," Jade said to his teammates. Jade could clearly see three rogue wolves who he believed were currently anxious, waiting for his arrival. His legs walked slowly and lurked among those who currently did not know he was hiding behind the trees. You are wrong if you face me. With one swift move, Romeo scratched two of his enemies' eyes simultaneously, and fresh blood flowed instantly. Jade looked horrified at those slashes. Too light for the infiltrator in the pack. The red wolf couldn't accept it when his friend became Romeo's prey. Quickly, he gave scratches to Jade's face, but it ended up empty. Jade dodged first without any significant resistance. The growl of the three wolves was calmly responded to by Jade and Romeo. They were too confident they could fight him alone. With one flick, Jade's hand scratches were on the back of the red wolf. The characteristic roar of pain made him pitiful and even fueled the adrenaline within him. With ease, Jade left them by running slowly. His face grinned because this was the time. Feeling the hot air behind him, Jade ran fast, letting them chase him. "Get ready." "We've been waiting too, Beta." Jade dodged when the three wolves tried to rush him from behind. "Ridiculous." Hearing the words of the Beta, the red wolf tried harder to find a gap to hurt Jade. The red wolf's claw scratches hit Jade's ankle a bit, but it didn't slow down his movement. Any moment now. Jade finally found the other rogues, don't know how many. He didn't have time to count. He was only focused on the three wolves who were now trapped. After arriving, Jade ran around, taking the predetermined position. The rogues cursed in disbelief that they had been played like this. They were about to become the prey of the warriors who surrounded them, trying to find a way out of the trap. Jade walked toward the red wolf, known as the leader of their group. Jade roared in front of his face to show who was in charge now. In an unprepared state, Jade scratched all his claws on the red wolf's body, as did the other warriors. The fight couldn't be avoided, even though Jade and the others knew they would win. But still, rogues were rogues; they were destroyers. In the last moment, Jade forcibly took the heart of the red wolf and threw it in any direction. Their screams and moans of pain were ignored. Jade only wanted one thing: to cut down the rogues in his territory.
