Chapter 6 The next morning, Anna woke with a smile on her lips. Her inner light was still shining bright when she left for work. Her good mood was so obvious, even her fellow nurses teased her about a new man in her life. It was true, just not in the way they imagined. Anna participated in the morning roll call, counted the sick women and the dead, and then went about her daily duties in the hospital ward. The roll calls should have been less time-consuming, because so many prisoners died every day. But it seemed for every dead woman, two new ones arrived in the cattle train transports.
