I sat on a boulder beside the strangest river I had ever seen. The water was blood-stained. It was a clear red color with a tangy odor to it as if somehow blood had seeped within and mixed with the once clear water. I wondered if it had ever been clear at all, or if this was its natural color. Sam stood a few feet away from me, his sight honed in on the scene which stood even further from us.
