CHAPTER THREE- A bad day. The bodyguard walked to Melissa observing why she hadn't turned to look at him yet, he looked at her hands to see if she wasn't playing games “Why didn't you turn when I asked you to turn?” he said facing Melissa.” “I had just changed my outfit. You came in without knocking. Your boss won't let me have my privacy again?!” Melissa talked calmly hoping she was able to control her fears and distracted the bodyguard from noticing the phone she held in the middle of her legs tightly. She was grateful her dad bought a small phone she could easily hide anywhere. “Watch your tongue,” he said holding a warning finger to her face. “Okay do I have permission to change to my uniform” She asked with a sarcastic tone. “Come downstairs Big boss wants to see you right now” The Bodyguard walked out of the room angrily. Mellissa decided to hide the phone underneath the bed and dressed properly, keeping the rule in mind as she rushed out angrily. “Mel I want you to clean the rooms by the left and the sitting room with the dining room important guests are coming over” “Yes okay” Vincent paused for a second to look at Melissa as she turned away then walked away in a hurry. Mellissa started her duties immediately. She cleaned the kitchen and cooked several meals for the guests. She was skeptical about the number of guests but the other maids helped in selecting the meals for the guests Melissa was exhausted after cleaning up the dishes in the kitchen but she couldn't relent in doing her other duties, she definitely couldn't afford to see Vincent rage. She cleaned up the living room and dining room, she looked around wondering why a single person was living in a huge house that was meant for three generations. “Melissa are you done cleaning up” one of the maids asked Melissa, it was evident from her facial expression she felt pity for Mellissa for doing all these chores alone. “Yes I'm done now I think the house is sparkling clean for Mr. Vincent and his guests” Melissa looked around the house thoroughly. “Shhh! You don't say that !”The maid rushed to cover Melissa's mouth. “Say what? what did I say” Melissa wondered what she had said that made her co-worker all of a sudden. “Why would you call him by his first name? We all call him Big Boss. It's not allowed here” “Really, Why?” She was about to ask when she heard footsteps down the stairs. “What's happening here, go to your position now!” Vincent raised his voice so loud, which had a baritone undergone, it was enough to cause a shiver down the spine. “Sorry Big boss” the maid rushed out in second bowing her head. Vincent looked around thoroughly, carefully inspecting every angle of the living room, he walked calmly to Mellissa who was standing an inch away from where he was. She was nervous about what he had to say. “Mellissa, your father didn't teach you how to clean? “ He said with his eyebrows arched. “What do you mean?!” rage was building up in Melissa and it could be evident from her eyes turning red. How dare he? “ This is rubbish, you have no idea how to clean properly. Why can't you be perfect at cleaning properly” “Do it again now!” He stormed out of the room angrily. Mellissa was furious now, she thought to herself how can a person be so insensitive and rude? She looked around wondering where she went wrong in cleaning this place properly. He must hate her, she thought to herself. Melissa had cleaned the house again, she was exhausted but still mustered up the inner strength to do more chores. She was asked to serve the guest drinks in the mini living room. She used the opportunity to observe the guest properly, taking in every detail of their body language towards her. She noticed two young men probably in their early thirties, they were dressed in white but with different colors of hats, one had a red hat and the other had a black hat. Their aura spoke calm but dangerous. “Hey, Bring it here!” The one guest with the black hat shouted his order from a distance. “Sorry sir” Melissa bent down to serve their drinks till she felt a tap on her butt. “Oh Vincent kept this priceless jewel here and never told me that's cruel,” he said standing close to Mellissa. “You are pretty my love should we go, play,” he said playing with the strands of her hair. Mellissa was confused, should she run or scream or maybe hit his head on the wall? She was helpless, irritated, and scared. What would she do now?! “Alex, get away from her now” Vincent rushed to his guest and held him by his shirt collar. “How dare you touch her? She's off limits, you hear me?” he said with his eyes red, one would think fire could come out of his eyes any second from now. “Okay okay, I have heard you relax.” The guest raised his hands in a surrendering manner and walked away to the rooms upstairs. Mellissa ran to the kitchen sobbing, she never felt so insulted and helpless. She thought to herself how she got into this mess, how life turned sour for her family in a second. “Take this, wipe your tears away” Vincent offered a white handkerchief to her. Mellissa looked at him with rage but was taken aback by what she saw the moment she stared into his eyes, Is he concerned? “Sorry about what happened with Alex, it won't happen again please stop crying,” he said whispering as he stepped closer to her, looking into her eyes as he took the handkerchief from her to wipe her face. “Your eyes…” He trailed off, “They are pretty and intriguing.” He said looking directly into her eyes and stepping closer than before. Melissa couldn't understand what was happening, she couldn't understand why she wasn't feeling uncomfortable by him being so close to her. She looked into his eyes and saw a different emotion but it felt peaceful. She looked at his face closely and realized behind this mask was an attractive man. He had perfect blue eyes, a well-pointed nose, and his lips, he's coming closer, Is he about to… “Big boss someone is here to see you” Vincent stepped back nervously, and walked away in a hurry. What just happened? Mellissa thought to herself if she was overthinking or if he was playing games with her. She couldn't let this moment go without understanding what just happened to him. How can a rude man be nice to her all of a sudden?! Mellissa rushed out to catch up with Vincent to ask him all about the questions that raced through her mind, she ignored the warnings her mind kept ringing in her head. She rushed up the stairs halfway and paused for a minute, she thought to herself how she could regret this and maybe it was best to walk away. She decided to go downstairs and stay put in her room till she heard two ladies laughing from one of the rooms upstairs. She turned to see Vincent coming out of the room shirtless with his pants and had red lipstick marks all over his body. She gasped silently and walked away slowly rushing to her room. He closed the door in a hurry slowly falling to the ground. She couldn't understand anything. She wasn't overthinking the moment they just had and now she saw this. Mellissa was confused about what to believe but the mystery that baffled her the most was why this was affecting her so much. Why is her heart clenching back tightly? Why does she feel so stupid? Wait. Has she developed feelings for this dangerous man? But she loves John Her phone vibrated from a distance, distracting her thoughts, she walked to the bed hoping her Dad would distract her thoughts. But it wasn't her Dad. It's JOHN. She stared at the phone's screen and the only thought that crossed her mind was why didn't she feel excited anymore What is wrong?
