Emily’s POV:
I wake up to the sound of a machine going off. My eyes shot open and my body immediately went into panic mode. I jump off the couch and turn to see that Justin is awake and is mid-bite of jello with a tray breakfast that is sitting beside his bed. He slowly removes the spoon from his mouth, chews and swallows all while making eye contact with me.
“I was just going to let you sleep, so I told them not to bring anything in for you.” He looked down at the jello cup in his hand and went for another spoonful. “I can ask them to bring something in for you, if you’d like.” He brings the spoon to his mouth and takes another bite of his jello.
I turn back to the couch and start tidying up the blanket I was given to sleep with.“No, I am fine. Thank you.”
