Chapter 6

1847 Words
Emily’s POV: “Stay outside, if I play the cards right you won’t need to go in and help out. Svetlana cannot know what you look like.” Abigail tells me as everybody else gets out of the car. “But, I want to help!” I protest as she begins to take off her shirt. “I understand that you want to help, but it is better for your safety if you stay out here. We don’t know if this could go south or not. If it begins to go south, and we need your help, I will mind link you to let you know to come in.” I turned away from her if she pulled her pants down and just shifted before I could get anything else out. “That is still my mother, if anything goes south you call me in there.” I spit that last part out in a bit of anger letting her know that I meant it. Abigail and her husband rush inside. Abigail is the only one that shifted into her wolf, but her husband was carrying a bow and lots of arrows. I sit and listen as hard as I can trying to focus on what is going on in the walls. In all of the books and TV shows, werewolves have super hearing. I listen as best as I can, pushing out different noises that I don’t think are necessary. And then I hear this deep raspy female voice, that I can only assume is this Svetlana character. Just the sound of her voice is evil and cold. I don’t know what is going on, but I hear chains rattling as the female voice speaks. “She has arrived.” I hear the cold voice say. There is no way that she knew I was there. Can vampires even do that? The harder and deeper that I listen, the more I am antsy to get in there and save my mother. Abigail's POV: “But I want to help!” Emily says with a look of disgust on her face. “I understand that you want to help, but it is better for your safety if you stay out here. We don’t know if this could go south or not. If it begins to go south, and we need your help, I will mind link you to let you know to come in.” I explain to her as I begin taking off my pants in order to shift. These are my favorite pants, I cannot lose them just to shift. A split second later I feel my wolf, Destiny, eager to get out. She’s pushing on me, and I decide not to fight her. Destiny is a light gray with white spots, and boy can she fight. As she comes out, I can feel Emily trying to protest. She mumbles something, but Destiny is already in a sprint. My best friend has been taken captive, and I am not about to let anything happen to her. The rest of my pack is not far behind me. I had sent a mind link to everyone that Anna was in danger. They didn’t even hesitate when they heard it, they got in their cars and followed me. Some didn’t even get in their cars, they just shifted into their wolves and started running through the woods. Anna was loved by all she came in contact with. She is so sweet and compassionate but don’t ever tick her off. No one knew she was an alpha because she never shifted or showed her eyes to them. It bothered some that they didn’t know, but they got over it eventually. I quickly mind linking Jacob. “Did you bring your bow?” “Yeah, don’t worry. I’ll let you take the lead and rip off some heads then I’ll come in and shoot what’s left. If she’s chained up, I’ll get her down.” He replies “Thanks babe.” Destiny busts through the first door she sees and everyone in the hallway freezes. Some are eating a snack and some are just walking around. Destiny growls loud and then howls so loud it shakes the walls. She inhales deep and smells that everyone in this hallway is a vampire. They all start to panic and run in different directions. I can feel the glares Destiny is giving these creatures. Some of the vampires pushed past the panicked crowd and with blood lustful eyes walked towards me. I hate the noise their skin makes when they have those eyes. It sounds like bones cracking and looks like blood crawling in their skin. Destiny tears back and pounces on the first one that she can reach, biting his head clear off with one rip. She jumps on the ground and kicks one of them in the head, sending her flying back against the wall. It may have killed the body but vampires always come back if they still have a heart or head. I start biting and kicking as many vampires as I can but they’re are a lot of them. One gets shot in the eye with an arrow and screams as the skin around it sizzles. I instantly knew my husband had soaked the arrow heads in vervain. That stuff was just as poisonous to vampires as wolfsbane is to us. I looked in awe at my man as he drew back another arrow and released it, hitting another vampire in the heart. Man that guy is sexy as hell. Yeah yeah. Can we get back to fighting please? Destiny sounded annoyed but I just laughed at her. We leaded off the vampire we were in and kept running down the hallway. The pack had finally arrived and were taking out the vampires behind me. My pack might be small but you don’t mess with us. I push past some of the other vampires in my path with a simple bite and kick, they will be dead with the toxins from my bite sooner or later. I sent out a mass mind link. Find Anna. I kept it short and simple because mind linking takes everyone’s attention from what they are doing. Then, I hear chains rattling. I listen as hard as I can, trying to find out which direction that came from. My hearing has never been as good as other werewolves, but it is still better than the average human. Destiny growls and sniffs the air to try and locate her scent. That mixes with the sounds coming from the chains should lead me to Anna. Destiny turns her head to the left and howls. She takes off running in the direction her nose points and the wolves that are not fighting follow on our heels. We exit a hallway and I’m blasted by a force I didn’t see, or wasn’t quick enough to see. Destiny whimpers as she hits the wall but is quick to her feet, growling and looking around frantically for who hit her. Her search stops in the middle of the room when we spot Anna being hung by chains looking weaker than I’ve ever seen her. Jacob comes running in and draws back an arrow. He points it in the direction of Anna, and as he lets out his breath I see the plants below her. “No, don’t!” Anna shouts but it’s too late. The arrow flies through the air and breaks the chains, sending Anna falling directly into the wolfsbane below her. Destiny doesn’t even hesitate, she uses her wolf speed and jumps towards Anna in an attempt to save her before she hits the plants. Anna’s POV: “No, don’t!” I shouted with all my might but it was too late. Jacob lets go of the arrow that he has drawn back. I take a deep breath as the arrow strikes the chains above me, breaking them and releasing me into the air. The wolfsbane below me won’t kill me but it will hurt quite a bit. “Ahh!” Is all I can say as Destiny nails me in the side, sending me flying away from the plants below. Thank goodness Abigail's wolf is the fastest in the pack. My foot still hit part of a plant and it sends shoot pain through my body. I crawl over towards Destiny who is laying on the ground a few feet from me. “What are you doing here?” I whisper to her. She c***s her head to the side and whines a little. “Oh my goodness, Anna!” Jacob yells running to us, getting both of our attention. Then we see a streak of color coming towards him. “Watch out!” I yelled back trying to warn him of Svetlana but I was too late. She came speeding past him like he was nothing and sent him spinning in the air. He crashed hard on the ground and stayed down for a minute. “Ah, so your entourage has arrived. Where is this daughter of yours.” Svetlana hissed as he put her hand on her chin, looking at me with a side eye. “ I thought she would be one of the first people through the door to try and save her mother.” “She’s nowhere near here. She is safe in the city.” I spit back at her. Destiny growls beside me and stands on her feet as if she’s ready to fight. “Ah so I see you didn’t know she was here. How interesting. Tell me, did you really think I took you for you?” Svetlana asks as she begins to pace with her arms behind her back. I raise an eyebrow at her. “I see. You’re not my prize, alpha. Your daughter is. I’m sure you know what she is and the powers she will possess as soon as she gets her wolf. And if rumors are correct, that should be today.” “You’ll never find her.” Jacob growls as he stands up. Svetlana looks at him and like a flash, stands right in front of him looking him in the eye. He takes a step back but does not look as though he is intimidated in the slightest. The biggest smirk grew across her face as her chest rose. “You brought her to me. You brought me my prize. Ha. I should thank you. My years of searching are over.” She begins to walk away from Jacob and he lets out a breath. “Don’t think for a minute that I’ll give her mercy because she is only a child. Her blood and her power are what I’m after. She will join me and my army will be completed.” She is talking about her council of supernatural beings, one of each species in one place as an army. All she needs is a true alpha for it to be complete, and we just brought one right to her.
