Irene's P.O.V

The word "Wife" kept ringing in my head as I brushed through my hair. The maids trooped in with luxurious shopping bags while standing behind me as they watched me brush through my hair while smothering it with oil. "Please leave" I muttered, almost bawling my eyes before them, for them to just leave me alone.

It was just a day after my forced marriage and I felt suffocated already. I doubted that I would be able to last a week in this darned house. Everybody suffocated me, most especially the maids who always ensured that I was okay.

A lot of women would have loved to be in my shoes as long as they enjoyed the princess treatment but I could swear that I would never get used to this life! The more they surrounded me, the more it felt like I was in an enclosed space, struggling to gasp for air.

Lily walked towards me with her head ducked down, she knelt, bowing her head while I rolled my eyes because I couldn't count the number of times that I had warned her against addressing me as someone high but she kept calling me Luna. "Ma'am, please get up and let us dress you up. Going to the Supreme Alpha's house is very important and if we do not dress you up in the stipulated time given to us by Alpha Xavier, we would be greatly punished."

The other maids followed her step, kneeling to the ground while lowering their heads at the same time. "We would be greatly punished. Alpha Xavier would punish us greatly, we are nothing but slaves in his hands. Please have mercy on us Luna'' They all chorused in unison. I blinked my eyes astonishingly. It seemed more like they all memorized the same words to say and it was giving me eerie vibes.

I sprang up, pulling Lily up. "Guys, can you stop this? I mean bowing before me and all that. I don't know why you guys are according to me with so much respect, I can't just wrap my head around it. Look, your so-called vicious master isn't here, you are free with me. Please don't bow before me any longer" I pleaded as they all exchanged glances with each other.

They all stood up, thanking me while a faint smile that faltered quickly formed on my face. With the way they spoke and quivered in fear when they talked about Xavier, I could sense that he was a really dangerous person, more dangerous than I could imagine.

Last night after my wedding, Xavier threatened to make life miserable for me if I didn't come with him to the Supreme Alpha's house. He also vowed to make life miserable for my parents, claiming that my stepmother was pregnant. My stepmother's pregnancy kind of excited me but the happiness that I felt inside of me disappeared because I suddenly remembered that the baby would bear horrible parents who used me in exchange for a debt. I didn't take his threat seriously but I began to take it seriously when I saw how scared the maid looked as they tried to persuade me.

They dressed me up and when I stared at myself in the mirror, I couldn't believe that I was the same person who had dark circles underneath her eyes with puffy eyes and swollen lips. I have dressed in a red gown, slit at the side. Lily told me that Xavier had picked the dress specifically for me.

I still couldn't forget the image of him in his werewolf form, it was an image that was forever scotched to my retina and I doubt that I would be able to ever forget about that side of him.

I walked down the stairs with my heels making a clicking sound, I kept tucking the strand of hair that fell on my face behind my hair as I clutched my purse tightly. Coming down the stairs, I searched my eyes around the room and that was when I saw Xavier, sitting on the couch with his mouth agape.

The way he stared at me made me uneasy so I glanced off, focusing my gaze on the clock that ticked slowly. I heard his footsteps approaching my direction and when I tried to glance at him, he was already behind me, grinning ear to ear. "I thought you would disobey my order? I was patiently waiting for you to face the consequences of your action but I guess that you are smart and you can decipher who to obey and not obey"

I didn't say a word and swallowed the lump that formed in my throat. "I don't care if you don't respond but I need to knock some things into your head and if you f**k things up today, you are going to witness a side of me that you wished you never saw" A smile crept at the corner of his lips.

His words sent shivers down my spine as I quickly lowered my head down. "What do you want me to do?" I finally mustered the courage to talk. "Now, that's a good girl!" His upper lips curled, showing his sharp incisors as he stretched his hands toward my face.

I took a step backward while he took a step forward, brushing his hands through my face with my heart beating with trepidation. He tucked the hair between my ear with his aquiline nose brushing through mine before gazing at me with a smirk on his face.

He smiled broadly, crossing his arms before plopping down on the couch, and gesturing for me to sit. I sat down, making sure that I kept a huge distance between us. He scoffed, clicking his tongue before proceeding to talk.

"Look, where I am taking you too is very important to my life. When we get to the Supreme Alpha's house, don't ever reveal to anyone that you are a human! you would be dead meat if you ever say something like that!"

"Get this into your head. You are the daughter of the northern cape Alpha and you are my Luna. I swear Irene, if you mess things up for me, you would regret ever meeting me!"
