The Bond chapter 1
Nria Nria woke with her head in a fog. What had happened? She thought to herself. She had been on her way with her crew to deliver something across town. She pressed her hand to the side of her head, Why did it hurt so much? That's right, they were attacked. Must have been a group of Rebels. Last thing she could remember was a flash of light and then everything going black. Where was she? She looked around and nothing looked familiar. She was lying on a filthy bed in a gloomy, empty room. The door was closed. Was it locked? She went to stand up and then heard footprints and muffled voices coming down the hall. She quickly laid back down and pretended to still be asleep. The door slowly and quietly opened and someone walked inside. Nira could now only hear one pair of footsteps walking over to her. Could she take this person on her own? Was there someone else still outside the room? She wasn’t sure but she definitely wasn’t about to go down without a fight. The footsteps stopped right next to her. I'll take them by surprise, she thought. It needs to be now before she is able to talk herself out of it. She jumped up and her fist collided with a face but strong hands grabbed her and forced her back down. She screamed, thrashed and flung herself around. Trying her hardest to break free but with no luck. She finally looked at the one holding her down. "This b***h won't hold still!" He yelled towards someone at the door. The man attempting to hold her down was an older grey haired man. Another man, younger, her age, walked over and took her wrists in his hands. He was much stronger than the older man and it didn't take much effort for him to keep her hands pinned down on top of her. He leaned down to her face and she flinched away. He grinned, then lowered his lips to her ear. "Stay still and be a good girl, and I won't let them hurt you". Daisy's heart was beating much faster now. Who is this man? She thought. Could she trust him? It didn't seem like she was getting anywhere else so she stopped fighting. At least for the time being. The young man leaned back up but kept his hands holding her down, and nodded for the older man to come back over. The older man stood there rubbing the side of his face where she had hit him. Good, she thought. "Where is the package you were delivering?" The older man asked. Package? Oh right, the thing she was moving across town. "like I'd tell you, old geezer". She spat in his direction. The hands around hers gripped tighter as in warning. " Last chance, I won't ask again". She just glared him down. No way in Hell would this old fool get her to talk. "Fine!" He finally announced. "Stay with her while I go fetch some more men, if she won't talk willingly then we will have to use some persuasion". The old man strode out, still rubbing the side of his face. She looked up at the man still holding her hands and met his eyes. They stayed watching each other a few moments until the footsteps faded completely down the hall. Then, to her surprise, he let go. His hands raised as he backed away from her. Nria sat up, confused. "what are you doing?" she asked. "Helping you" he said, almost a whisper. What? She thought she could have heard him wrong. Why would he do that? This must be a trick. "Follow me and stay quiet, and for gods sake please do everything I tell you to". "Why?" was the only thing she could think to say." I'm not completely sure myself", he said in disbelief with himself, "but trust me you don't want to be here when they get back". She nodded. She finally took a better look at the man. He was tall, long dark hair that fell in his face. Caramel colored skin. He was actually really handsome. He gave a quick nod back and went out to hall. She followed him. He took her down lots of halls and doors. She had no idea where they were. Maybe an old manor? She knew the area pretty well but had no idea where a place like this would exist. She was too busy looking around that she didn't even notice the man stop in front of her, and she collided into his back. Damn, he was like a brick wall. Then without any warning he spun around, grabbed her, and pinned her against the wall. He was so close to her. One hand holding her wrists above her head one on her waist. His mouth inches from her. Oh no, this was a trap. No, no, no. This could not happen. She started screaming, trying to break free. "I'm sorry" he said with what looked like pity in his eyes. "No!" she screamed. Terror filled her body. Shouts came from down the hall. "Please, Please don't do this" she begged. Then he pressed his lips to her neck and started kissing aggressively down her neck as she kept struggling to free herself. How could she be this stupid? More men came running up to them. Among them the older man from before. "Ah Lads, it seems like young Maddox here decided to have a good time without us." All the men laughed. Maddox looked from her neck. "Shame you boys missed the real fun", he boasted. Then he turned to her with a wicked grin. It faded as he looked up towards their hands and tilted his head like something caught his eye. Another man stalked over to them, a red haired plump faced man. "Well, since you've already got started, let us have some fun". "Come and get her", was all Maddox replied. Nria's eyes widened with fear. "Don't you dare touch me, you pig". What was she going to do? She couldn't take all these men on her own. Just then something small, cold, and metal slipped into her hands. It sliced a finger sliding across her hand. Was it a blade? A dagger perhaps? The red haired man was close now. Maddox made a move as if he was going to step away and hand her over, and then to her surprise he punched the ugly bastard. He let go of her as all the men raced towards him. Maddox pulled another blade and started slicing, and stabbing his way through the men. Nria was too shocked to know what to do or think. So much for all of her training. She just gaped at him until a man who had slipped past Maddox found her. She gripped the blade Maddox had snuck to her tighter. He lunged furiously at her. She dogged him, slicing across his middle as she went. It was such a small blade but apparently very effective. The man fell to the ground clutching his side. The wound wouldn't kill him, but he should be down for a while. Nria looked back to Maddox tearing through more men. One… Two… Three… It seemed like more men just kept coming. At this rate they would never make it past them. She wasn't sure what more good she could do with this small blade as her only weapon but she wasn't going to just stand there either. Maybe she should just run, Leave Maddox to fend for himself? She started to turn to run, but felt frozen. What was she doing? He helped her, didn't he? Oh, to Hell with it she thought, and runs towards the fighting, blade raised to strike. There was a loud clang and everyone froze. Maddox ran and grabbed Nria by the waist and flung her to the ground, covering her with his body as the wall just exploded. There was smoke and dust everywhere. She could hear shouts and yelling, but it sounded so far away. Ugh Maddox was crushing her. She had to shove him off of her, was he dead? She leaned over to him. No, still breathing. Just knocked out. Someone grabbed her and hauled her up on her legs." We have to go!" the voice yelled, the smoke making it hard to get a clear view of them. She tried to focus her eyes. The figure became more clear Braxton! "Not without him!" Nria yelled back, gesturing down to Maddox. "Are you out of your mind?" He looked furious. Which he always did, at least at her. "I won't leave without him," she answered, trying to look as determined as possible. "He helped save me". Braxton rolled his eyes and lifted Maddox up off the ground. "Thank you", she said as she followed through the opening in the wall and into the large armored truck waiting just outside. She knew he would be the one to come for her. He has no choice after all.
