“Yesterday was the best date I have every been in” I tell Jessica. I don’t have class on Fridays so I always pick the opening shifts at work. Just so I don’t have to be at home.

“You seem in love with this guy, and you barely even know him” she looks at me like a big sister would when trying to protect her little sister.

“I know that’s what is driving my emotions crazy, I feel like I have known him all my life. But I only had one date” it’s driving me crazy not having any control of myself. I’ve been texting Lizandro all night and day, we have known a lot of each other. Our likes and dislikes and hobbies, he loves rock climbing I haven’t gotten the chance to try it yet. One day I will, also found out he’s the third child. I have pictured him as the oldest, just because how much control he has of himself. Sort of, I started to blush just thinking about yesterday. He’s not even here and he still drives me crazy.

“Are you thinking about him right now?” Jessica ask, my eyes widen s**t she saw that. I didn’t say anything.

“I just want you to be safe, I can see he is different from men you have dated. Because you blush when you talk about him. I just don’t want to see your heart get broken” she hugs me.

“thank you Jessica you’re a true friend, plus if he does break my heart I have my best friend to pull me back to together” we’re still hugging and all of the sudden we hear the door bell go off, so we let go.

“O.K. time to get to work” Jessica said while wiping tears away.

“Yes boss, and thank you for bringing me a cute outfit for tonight” I tell her while I was stocking the to go cups.

“Oh your so welcome, I think he will love it” she tells me, oh no what she bring me?

“ What you do? You have better not brought me some hoochie mamma s**t!” I asked her fancy but not to fancy.

“ You’ll have to just wait and see” she laughed. She’s lucky we don’t have time to argue because we have get to work. But she’ll hear it when I see this outfit she brought me.

Half way finished with my shift, I took my break. I check my phone and I seen a lot of text messages and calls. We’re not allowed to have our phone on us, so I wonder if it’s Lizandro? I unlocked my phone to check my messages, most of them are from Lizandro. It brings a smile to my face when I am reading them, he basically asking random questions. And he also tells me he misses me.

“What’s your favorite color?”

“If you can have a pet what would it be?”

“Do you like sweets?”

“ I miss you so much, can’t wait to hold you”

Some of the text messages he sent, I’ll answer a few of them.

“Red”

“A snow owl”

“I love dark chocolate”

“For some strange reason I miss you too”

I look at the rest of the text messages, some from my dad and from friends. I don’t even bother opening my dads texts. Most of the time they don’t make any sense, I look at my miss calls and it’s all from my dad. I wonder if he got locked out the house, thats the only reason he would blow up my phone like that. I guess I’ll call him.

“Where the f$&k you at?” My dad is angry like always.

“I am at a friends house, why?” I told him

“Because I know you don’t have class today and I expected you to be home” what does he want, why does he want me home?

“I am planning a dinner with Stephanie and I want you to come with us” he never wants me to have dinner with him and his girlfriend.

“I have plans tonight, and I am not canceling. Plus when have you ever wanted me to join you and your girlfriend for dinner?” I am not canceling my date with Lizandro, what if he leaves back home soon.

“Is join us for dinner or I’ll cut off your college funds!” S**t I am almost done with school. What am I going to do?

“Fine, but I am bringing someone with me!” I hope Lizandro will be O.K. with having dinner with my dad. I guess I should ask him.

“I don’t give a s**t who you bring, as long as you’re there” There is something going on, why is he so admit to have me join them in dinner.

“Six thirty at Carlos, I have already set an reservation” Carlos is a semi fancy restaurant, what does he have planned?... Is he proposing to his girlfriend? I better text Lizandro about the plans changing, I hope he’s O.K. with it.

“Hey, my dad just text me. He’s forcing me to have dinner with him and his girlfriend tonight, can you join me?” I hope he says yes, I hope my dad don’t flip on him.

“I was planning on having you all to myself, but yes I would love to go with you!” He said yes!

“I am warning you now, but dad can get a little out of hand” I really hope my dad don’t scare him off. I have never brought a guy home to meet my dad, because I never wanted a relationship to last long enough.

“Don’t you worry about me gorgeous, I think I can handle your dad” he seems confident this is going to be interesting.

“Pick me up at six at the shop, see you soon” I have to go back to work, so I can’t wait for his reply.

Once I got back to work I told Jessica about the ordeal, she was actually surprised i had ask Lizandro to join me for dinner with my dad.

“Did you really asked Lizandro to join you, girl you basically introducing him to your dad. I hear wedding bells!” she can be an A-hole sometimes.

“First off f the bells you’re hearing are your wedding bells, and second off Lizandro is mostly there so nothing goes wrong.” Who am I kidding, I want him there in case he leaves town soon. After our conversation we got busy and couldn’t talk anymore about it. Jessica let me clock out thirty minutes early so I can get ready for dinner, she brought me this really tight black dress, it shows my top back off, it’s shows a bit of my chest but not much, it has sleeves down to my elbows. It’s a really elegant dress, she also brought me these gorgeous red heels. I am glad I decided to shave this morning, I put some makeup on and fixed my hair. I had my hair in a braid all day, now it’s looks like natural beach waves. As I exit the locker room I glance over to the counter see what Jessica thought of my look, she wasn’t there. I glance outside and see Jessica talking to someone, I can’t tell who it is she is blocking the person. I start walking towards the door as I do I realized I recognize the car outside in front of the shop. Oh s**t she is talking to Lizandro, oh no this is not good. I started walking a lot faster, I don’t want them to hate each other right away. As I step outside.

“You don’t have to worry about anything, I will never do anything to hurt her. She is my life now.” I heard Lizandro tell Jessica, they haven’t noticed me yet.

“Hey beautiful, don’t you look amazing. Just like a queen should look like.” Lizandro finally saw me and addressed me. Jessica turn around, she looks embarrassed.

“Hey Annayees, don’t you look beautiful. I knew that dress will be perfect for you. Now go and have fun” she didn’t look at me and just walked pass me. She must of be thinking that I hate her right now. I told Lizandro to wait a second and I turn to follow Jessica trying to stop her.

“Hey Jess!” Jessica stop and turned around.

“Hey thank you! Thank you for always protecting me, and looking out for me. I want you to know I will never be mad at you for protecting me. And also... If something goes wrong tonight can I stay with you?” She started laughing and hugged me.

“Yes of course you’re always welcome to stay with me. You better get going you don’t want your dad mad at you before dinner even starts” she let go of me and she went inside the shop. I turned around and head to the car.

“Is everything O.K.?” Lizandro asked as he open the car door for me.

“Yeah everything is great so far” I give him a smile and he closed the door. As soon as he got into the car and started it.

“So where is dinner?” He looks at me with hunger in his eyes. Oh my this man makes me burn for him.

“This place name Carlos, I’ll put in the directions.” I just started messing with his GPS, I some how got comfortable quickly.

“So you’re introducing your boyfriend to your dad after one date huh?” What the f$&k did he say? Did he say boyfriend? I am not mad about it I am shocked that he labeled us already.

“I didn’t know we were oficial?” I look at him trying not to show my shock.

“After I man handled you in the mountains I figured we were oficial, do you not want to be my girl?” Oh no I don’t want him thinking that. Just say yes! My mind is telling me.

“Yes of course I do, but I just news to me. Next time include me in important decisions like that.” I smile at him.

“Yes dear, I’ll definitely include you on the important decision from now on.” He chuckled. We pulled up to the restaurant, the valet opened my door and helped me out. The guy kept staring at me, that’s when Lizandro stepped in.

“Thank you, she’s mine” As Lizandro wrap his arm around me and walk us in the restaurant. It brought a smile to me, he’s jealous.

“You didn’t have to sound over protective” I told him.

“More like marking my territory” he gave me a playful smile. Didn’t I tell myself that yesterday? Can he read minds? As the waiter show us to our table, Lizandro pulled my chair out for me. My dad isn’t here yet, we are a few minutes early. Maybe my dads and his girlfriend won’t show, hopefully.

Two min after we arrived my father and his girlfriend show up. Great.

“So who the hell is this?” My dad asked me looking at Lizandro.

“Hi sir my name is Lizandro Castello I am Annayees boyfriend” as Lizandro stands to shake my dads hand. He’s bold telling my father that he is my boyfriend. Why did he label us so soon? Does he feel the same bond I feel?

“I thought you were into women? Not once you bring a guy to meet me” my dad says as he shaking Lizandro’s hand.

“Lizandro this is my pretty lady Stephanie” as my dad tell his girlfriend to sit down. Lizandro is sitting next to me with his hand on my thigh gently stroking it. Man what is he doing? Is he really turning me on in front of my dad, in front of everyone.

Lizandro leans over to me and whispers “is this distracting?” Oh he knows what’s he is doing, I’ll get him back.

“No babe, it’s actually soothing” I give him a smile.

“Now that we finished eating, I would like to talk to tell you something” my dad said starting right at me.

“I have decided that we are moving from this town, and Stephanie is moving in” dad is already drunk, great. Move why now I am almost done with college.

“I am not leaving with you” I told him pissed off, why would I follow him.

“Oh you are!” If you want that money you’ll come with me!” My dad is getting angrier and raised his voice.

“I don’t give a s**t about that f$&king money! I am not leaving with you! I have a few weeks left until I graduate college. Why in the f$&k would I transfer now?” Besides I am a grown woman I don’t have to listen to you and I am done listening to you.” I got up from the table and stormed outside, Lizandro followed me.

“Hey do you want to get out of here?” Lizandro asked me while he was holding me trying to calm me down. I was so piss at my dad I started crying.

“Yes please” I told him while hold on to him tight.” As we wait for valet to bring his car up, I hear my dad behind us. Great here he comes.

“I wasn’t f$&king done talking to you! You’re my daughter and I say you’re going” my dad piss and drunk, yep that’s my father.

“And like I told you, I am a grown woman. I make my own decision, and I choose not to listen to you. You can go a head and move out of town, go live your life with Stephanie. I’ll just be in your way, you don’t want me around anyways” I tell my father. Lizandro looks like he wants to beat up my dad, I would let him do it but he’s my father.

“I will cut off you college funds and I will stop feeding you. You’re ungrateful child.” After those words I see Lizandro ready to punch my dad. I had to hold him back. I turn to look at Lizandro and tell him “it’s O.K. I can handle this” I turn back to my father.

“Dad a few things before I tell you goodnight and probably goodbye. You have paid for the college for this las semester I am in, I have a few weeks to go. You’ll never get your money back, also you never feed me anyways so what does that threat will do. I am not a child anymore, you no longer have control on me, I might see you tomorrow.” With that I turned to Lizandro “ we can go now” as he wrap his arm around me and walk me to his car.

“If you don’t come with me I will lose all the money” what did my dad say?

“What are you talking about? What do you mean lose all the money? Are you saying all the money you have been spending is mine!!” I got so angry I saw red. My dad didn’t look at me, that made me even more mad.

“Answer me! Did I grant access to that money when I was eighteen? The year you have decided to find a new job after so many years in the service.” I can not control my rage, I felt Lizandro holding me.

“Yes” my dad finally answered me. I got so mad I actually punch him knocking him on the floor.

“You worthless! How can you steal from your own child! How can you take my mother’s money from me? You did not deserve my mother and you do not deserve me!” I looked down on him while he was still on the floor shocked that his own daughter knocked him on the floor. Lizandro grabbed my hand and pulled me to him, come on babe he’s not worth you getting mad over. I followed him to the car and he helped me in, I hear my dad yelling my name I don’t even bother to look. Lizandro got into the car and drove off.
