Eli finds bad news
Eli Wallace spent 3 days pouring through the texts left by the Ancients about the stasis pod, and bad run every test he could think of. Nothing would bring it online so he could join the rest of the crew in stasis for the journey. He pushed the failed button on the diagnostic flowchart for what seemed the millionth time, and the screen changed.
Run Control Mechanism Diagnostic level 3 the screen read.
He pushed the oink and it walked him through the prompts, and the test began running over the control systems. It displayed the checklist that it ran through, and Eli knew it would take several minutes to perform this. He closed his eyes for wjat seemed like a few seconds when the program beeped for the first time.
Unable to Communicate with Controls, ensure connection to control board is complete.
Eli stared at it, before he looked down at the tablet and selected the prompt it had shown him. He read through a few things as he prepared to diagnose the issue, and his face paled at the possible repairs. The most likely result would be it has to be replaced, and he already knew there weren't any on the ship compatible with this system.
He tore open the control panel for it, and immediately noticed that the entire control system had burnt out in the unit. He pulled the control board out, and the burnt components told him it was useless.
He pulled open the inventory he had found, and sure enough the part number it had given him was not in the list. He pulled up the schematic and found most of what he would need to rebuild it, except for the control crystal that each of them used. It was specialized for this system, and could not be created aboard the ship.
Eli cursed his bad luck, glad he had already shut iff the majority of the systems. He had accepted he would most likely not survive, but was going to give it one hell of a shot. He had managed to consolidare his base of operations into the nearby aeroponics bay they had been using, hoping the plants would process enough of his CO2 output that he would not have to rely on the life support for it. The more he could not use it, the longer he would survive.
Eli ran through a few simulations, and learned the terrible truth. His only hope in survival relied on improving the efficency of the systems. No matter what he did, he would have to use life support occassionally, and to make it 3 years he needed more power, lots more power. He let the simulation run, and it recommended several things for him to do. He sighed as he realized the only solution was to finish the repairs to get into the Engineering Sections, the only problem was the hull repairs he would have to do. He looked at the clock and realized he had been working for 28 hours straight, so decided to go to bed.
