Reports

Eli had spent 2 weeks aboard Destiny repairing the Stellar Plasma system, and he had restored about half of the pods that there were. He had already increased reserve capacity by 25 percent, and figured he might be able to squeeze just enough power out after a recharge to initiate a dialing to Earth. It would requiee a recharge almost immediately afterward, as he had no clue how effective the repairs would be when he finished. Zalenka was roughly in the same spot with the shield generators, while Rush had only managed 5 of the 15 Engine Modules. They had known that the Engines would take the longest, but the surprising report was Dr. Franklin with the weapons. She had restored power to all of the platforms, and had repaired 75 percent of them. She was reporting she would be on track to not only repair the ones that had been offline, but repair a good number of the ones currently online so they would not fail as easily later. Eli made the connection to Earth, and was surprised to find himself in Dr. McKays body. "Hello, Eli Wallace with scheduled connection." he said to the woman sitting there. "Hi Eli, its Chloe, how go the repairs?" she asked as she was finishing the last of the calculations she had. Rodney was going to get the final 2 points they needed, and than it would be a matter if days before they were prepared to leave. "Repairs are progressing rapidly. 5 Engine Midules have been repaired, 75 percent of the weapons have been brought fully online, and Dr. Franklin is hopeful she will be able tonbring that to 100 percent by the end of the week, and conduct maintenance repairs on the majority of the remaining weapons platforms thatbare currently online. 50 percent of the shield generators have been repaired, as well as 50 percent of the Stellar Plasma Storage. Should be two weeks before we finish, at which point Dr. Zalenka will focus on the shield emitters while I assist Dr. Rush with the final Engine Modules. The repair robots have repaired 40 percent of the hull breeches, and 30 percent of the power conduits have been repaired by the smaller bots. With any luck Destiny will be nearly fully repaired by the time Atlantis arrives." Eli reported to her as General Carter walked in. "Excellent news Eli, that means we will be able to conduct the rescue operation as soon as we exit hyperspace." Carter said as she walked in. "Actually, I may have an idea about that. If my calculations are correct, after the repairs Destiny might have the power directly after a recharge to dial Earth. It would require recharging again afterward, but it might be possible." he said knowing the calculations better than anyone. "Even better news, as we were not expecting that. Even if it is possible, we will still be dispatching Atlantis. There are supplies that are coming that are too sensitive to be sent via Stargate." Carter said indicating he should follow her. "The question is going to be what your intentions are?" "What do you mean General?" he asked as they walked through the hallway. "Well, when you return you will find many options available. We have submitted some of your work to MIT, and they have issued a Masters Diploma to you in Applied and Theoretical Physics. You would essentially have your pick of assignments should you decide you wish to remain in the employ of the SGC." she told him as they entered her office. "General, I had not even considered returning to Earth or what I would do if it happened. As it stands I have no desire to do so until it happens, the only thing I know is I wish to return to Earth for the time being." he said as he took a seat in her office. "That is perfectly acceptable, as your situation has been unprecedented. We would like to consider a position with the SGC, and you may choose your first assignment posting. If you choose Earth I assure you the challenges will be up to what you have faced so far." Carter told him as she handed him the offer they had made for him. Eli was shocked when he saw that they were offering him 2 million a year for the 3 years he had been deployed so far, and would give him the same for an additional 5 years. "General, there has to be a mistake." he said as he did the math of what he would be owed. "No mistake Eli, that is what is being offered. Earth, Atlantis, Destiny doesn't matter what you choose. We need your expertise inside the program, and we are willing to pay." she said. "Think about it, because we are preparing the payout for you for the years already provided even if you do decide to work for a provate enterprise." Eli knew she was being serious than. "Thank you General, but all I know for now is I wish to spend atleast a month on Earth visiting my mom every night. After that I will consider reassignment to a different locale, but not before. Destiny is not a post I ever wish to see again however." Carter laughed at that, as she understood why he felt that way. "Well we can assure you that won't happen, we are trying to determine if we will return it closer or allow it to continue. It has already reached the end of its mission corridor, and will reach the outer edge of the known universe within the next few galaxies. The seed ships are mostly broken down behind Destiny, only 3 making it further. One in each of the next galaxies, after that there are no stargates unless it traverses its previous course." she told him. Dr. Rush finished disassembling his most current engine module, and was dismayed by the amount of damage it had sustained. He knew it would be difficult to repair, and would need to be a module he returned to. The repairs were going more slowly than he wanted, and was hopeful that he wouldn't have to replace more than two of them outright. If he did, he didn't know if he would be able to compensate for it. The problem rested in the fact that the systems had not been designed to operate anywhere near as long as they already had. He knew two of them would be difficult to repair, and walked into his parts area again. The relative size of the oarts concerned him as the hallway was wide enough to accommodate a full unit. He looked for the parts he knew he would need, and qalked further back into storage than he ever had before. As he looked around he saw something that surprised him, the Ancients had been prepared for this. 5 full Engine Modules were stacked in the rear corner, and they gleamed with the newness of it. Rush smiled as he knew that this module he was working on would be one of the ones replaced. He also knew he would be reinstalling the 16th module, so had 3 more he could replace. With this inflrmation he deicded to change tactics with the final 9 modules. It would take him a week to tear them all apart, but he knew he would be able tondetermine which ones he needed to replace vs repair. He went back to work, and smiled as he knew his progress would be measured quite differently for a few days. Zalenka on the other hand had found dozens of shield generators, but had significantly more of them to deal with. There were 60 Generators, and nearly 200 emitters that made up the shield grid, not including the hull nodes to seal breeches as needed to protect the hull. Those were fortunately becoming fewer and fewer as the robots repaired the exterior hull with the storage crate panels and anything they could use without impacting the crew. He was making good progress as the ship only used a portion of the generators, and it was continuously shutting more down as the strain decreased and strength increased. He had used roughly half of his replacements, and he walked around the back half of the bay to see the extent of the damage here. He was dismayed as he counted half of these modules were dead, where only a third of the others had been. The failures of the first ones varied, and Zalenka knew he would have to salvage parts from the destroyed modules to repair the ones he would be unable to replace. This would complicate things as it would extend the amount of time the Shields took to repair. He just hoped it would be adequate to get underway on time. They had 5 weeks worth of water before they ran out, and once that happened they would be desperate.
