Runaway "Lovers"

707 Words
Reginald's POV I heard the jingle of the door. A knock on the counter made me turn around. I was expecting it to be my Father but instead it was her. Why on Neptune would she be in Estwall? It is full of Nightwalkers, people whom would love to take her little head and mount it on their wall. Quickly I jumped the counter, grabbed her and dove into the pantry. 'Are you f**king kidding me? Let me go!' She shouted. 'No, your crazy thinking you can walk in like that. My Father is ready to kill you upon sight. If I didn't get you in here, one of the men out there were surely going to grab you and run towards him.' I pointed towards the man sitting at the far west corner. 'I don't care how much you hate me because of my Father but I'm not your enemy. I'm just trying to help you. Remember the scripture? The one that was supposedly "lost"? It stated that one Wielder, one Nightwalker, one Banshee, and one wolf were to take down the cursed land leader. I still don't know who that is yet.' I told her gritting my teeth. 'You've got to be playing me. You think I'm some special person apart of this scripture. Well, you lost your mind!' She smacked my chest, trying to leave. I held her against the shelves which now everything was in disarray. 'Okay I know it's crazy but just work with me. Please?' I begged. 'If you let me go, I'll think about it.' She scoffed. 'I need a definite yes. Not a maybe or we'll see.' I was demanding when I needed to be and this was the time! 'Fine. I'll play your silly game. Even if its based on some stupid article.' 'D*mn she was annoying but if this scripture is true, she is needed' Reginald thought. 'Scripture, but article works too.' He stuck out his hand. 'Deal?' 'Deal' And she shook his hand. I peeked out of the pantry. The bar area was a buzz with words of what I did. I already told her to change her looks. She had emerald eyes, olive tone skin, and long midnight black hair. She was a bit on the heavier side but I loved that about her. She wasn't too keen on this story I've come up with but it'll have to do. We are supposed lovers from a fling in the night and she's come to visit me. On tomorrows eve we are going to pack our things and leave. To be known as the runaway lovers. My Father will be pissed that I have decided on a fling girl rather than Marissa my "fiancé." I never cared for her, she's very self centered. As if on cue the moment we step out of the pantry, lo and behold its Marissa. 'Reggie, Baby!' Her shrill voice cut the air. 'Marissa, I'm at work. You know you aren't even allowed in here.' I retorted. 'That's no way to talk to your wife! Hmph!' She huffed. 'Why is she like this? We aren't even a true thing yet she acts like it is.' Reginald thought. Sighing he stated. 'Look, I've got an hour til I'm off and I have a lot to do. Let me get it done and I'll meet you by the whistlers tree. Okay?' 'Oh! I love that tree. Are you truly going to be there?' she asked. 'Yes. I will be.' He sighed again. 'Good. I'll make some dinner to enjoy with you!' She practically sang on her way out. I looking back I don't even know how I got engaged to her. 'Was that..?' She asked. 'That was Marissa. Yes.' I stated. 'Now, I know who not to go around' She whispered as to not let any other people hear. I leaned over and gave her a quick goodbye kiss on the cheek and went back to work. Tomorrow was going to be the start of a long, horrible journey no one would want to take. I took one last look at her before heading behind the bar. Knowing she was going to explore the town. She was going to get killed.
