The Trip Must Happen

1170 Words
In a beautiful looking room, within a well-designed building, the darkness of the night as suppressed by the purple light shining from the ceiling bulbs of the room. On the ground of the room was a matrass with a bed on top. This matrass was placed in a corner of the room. On top of this matrass laid a beautiful-looking-slightly-chubby-dark-skinned girl. Her eyes stared at the ceiling with a serious gaze lying within it. She had been like this since the quarrel in the afternoon and only stood up when her parents returned from work to go greet them. The difference between her expression during the day and it now was that she had a pathetic expression during the day and then a serious one now. She had already come to terms with the activities that took place. Something else was seriously burdening her mind. Her hands suddenly stretched out, and she picked up her phone while sitting up. " No, we can't stop the plans because of this quarrel " She muttered in a low voice. She quickly searched for the w******p icon on her phone and logged in. She then searched for a group chat. This group chat was made up of only the six friends. " Hi guys " She posted. To her post, no reply was received. Usually, it could be that no one was online to view it, if not that the blue double ticks beneath the message were present. There was even an indication that further explained the chats had been viewed by three individuals. " Sigh... " A sigh escaped Bethel's mouth. After waiting for some more time, no one answered still. Tired of waiting, she proceeded to type. " Look, I know we have had a very bad day, all of us. Frank, I know you are angry and furious, and maybe even hate me, but I am not sorry. I can't risk jeopardizing my future for our friendship. Going to the city would be a massive opportunity for us, not just by providing us with more versatile opportunities but also give us a chance at experiencing life from a different perspective, an entirely different aspect, " She posted before continuing with a new empty box. " Look, I think we would all be the biggest of fools to give up on this opportunity, especially having managed to convince our parents on it. I don't mean to use offensive language, but I just can't help it. I don't know about you guys, but I would definitely be going with or without you guys, it left for you whether you want to come or not " She posted. Two blue ticks immediately appeared on the message as soon as it was sent, which indicated the message had been viewed. This time four circular pictures popped up beneath the ticks, meaning four people viewed the message. Bethel waited for a reply for a while but got none. Just as she was about to drop the phone, a message popped up. " Which means of transportation should we take ". This message came from Reuben, who had just come online. As soon as Bethel saw it, a smile shown on her face. " I was thinking we should go by sea. It would probably make the trip more interesting " Bethel replied. " Fine, whenever you guys are ready, I am ready " Reuben said again and went offline. Bethel, still with a smile on her face, read through the chat. She typed something but later deleted it after a brief thought. ' I should stop typing. Knowing them, they would definitely be fine by tomorrow morning and thence would choose to tag along, only that Frank, ahhh, I would rather not think about it. ' She thought, unwilling to let the thought of Frank spoil her mood. Bethel dropped her phone on a small table beside her bed, closed her eyes and waited for the chilly winds of night sleep to come kiss her welcome. Not long after she quit using of her phone, various replies were sent in the group chat. The other crew members had answered, or at least the majority, except for Frank. At Frank's house, sometime at night. Frank laid on his bed fast asleep. This was until a while later, when his body muscles grew stiff and so his body system tried to stretch itself as a reflex actions. This action pulled Frank back from the land of dreams. He raised his upper body a bit and let out a yawn. His eyes looked dull and confused. Obviously, he hadn't fully awakened. Only after the bit of confusion did clarity and intelligence take their place. Slowly he sat up as his gaze went towards the window. Seeing the dim level of the darkness, he confirmed that time would be somewhere within the middle of the night. He forcefully carried his dizzy body to the parlor. Though it was night, the PHCN had supplied power, so the entire house except for the room was lightened up and so he easily found his way to the parlor. There he saw a plate of food placed neatly on a tray on top of the center table. Waiting for no one's approval, he picked up the plate of food. He was sure the food was left for him in hope that he would wake up at night hungry since he didn't eat anything aside from the toasted bread at Bethel's house. His parents weren't even aware that he ate the toasted bread, and so he could understand their action. He picked up the tray the plate of food was placed on and took both the items back to his room. He sat on his bed and placed the tray on a small table in the room. He reached out his hands to a corner of his bed and picked up his phone. On one hand, he scrolled through a Bible app on his phone, and the other hand frequently dug into the plate of yam porridge, the food that was prepared for him. After a while of Bible study while eating, as that was one of his hobbies, he went logged off the app and logged into w******p. He had already received the notification of new messages in the group as soon as he switched on the phone, but he ignored them as he wasn't ready for the drama and had guessed what the message would be about. He saw the new messages on the group chat. Slowly he read through Bethel's chat and then the reply of his other friends. Apart from Bethel's message and the replies, there were also other hats, still about the trip to the city. They had agreed on a day to embark on this journey. Seeing the chats, he shook his head. After a bit of staring, he logged off w******p without giving a reply. Soon he was done with the food and went back to bed.
