Catherine grabbed her chance to help Edward but was pushed away by him. Catherine sat on the ground with her head bowed down, her eyes filled with resentment. Why did he have to do this?
That woman could hug him, but she could not even try to get close to him.
Raymond and Jerry ignored Catherine, who had fallen to the ground after being rejected by Edward. Instead, they assisted Edward to his room. Edward grabbed hold of Jerry's hand and said, "I want you to send someone to follow her secretly."
Raymond right away muttered, "Don't worry about that woman. It's better if she dies on her way to the Hunter Organization."
Edward squeezed Raymond’s collar sharply, his red eyes fixated on him. Raymond was so frightened that he broke out into a cold sweat and he did not dare to speak up again.
Jerry turned to look at him and nodded. "Yes, that’s true."
Dorothy, who was now outside the castle grounds, controlled the violent mood swings in her heart and made her way firmly toward the border that separated the territory of weres and humans. She was unwilling to let Edward help her because she did not want the wolves to get involved in this matter. Once they intervened, this thing would only get more complicated.
She could only do this on her own. Edward had helped her a lot already and she could not let him lay his life down for something like this. She would find another opportunity to repay him for his kindness at a later time.
Dorothy made her way quickly through the forest. She must pass through this forest if she wanted to step out of the den of the werewolves and into the human world.
Dorothy's ears moved slightly and her footsteps stopped abruptly when she heard someone behind her. She pretended to continue on her journey as if she had no idea someone was tailing her. When passing by a big tree, she noticed that the person behind her was drawing in closer to her.
The time had come, she reached out with one hand and hugged the trunk of the big tree! Pulling power from the tree, she directly kicked the person behind her with both feet. With a groan, the were fell to the ground with a thud.
He shifted a dewclaw and slammed his body into Dorothy again.
Dorothy managed to block his attack, wondering in her heart who had sent this man.
Edward's face right away flashed in her mind, but the idea was instantly tossed away. She still had a firm belief in Edward's strong character. Even if he really wanted her to die, he would do it in an open and honest way, not a sneak attack like this.
In the next second, another face surfaced in her mind. She pulled her lips into a tight smile and said, "That woman asked you to come after me, right? But I should thank her for giving me the news about my family. Without her, I would never have known that my loved ones’ lives were in danger."
The werewolf hesitated and then he said in a hoarse voice, "Since you have already guessed it, you should know you don’t have long to live."
Dorothy dodged his attack neatly, not forgetting to provoke him at the same time. "I had no idea, I just made a guess. I never expected you to be so unscrupulous."
The were had never met such a person like Dorothy before and he stopped for a moment to reassess what his next move should be. It was at this moment that Dorothy found a flaw in the way he fought. She kicked him away, then quickly came up to him and punched him directly in the heart. The force of the blow made him take a few staggering steps back and slam straight to the ground.
Dorothy rubbed her sore wrists. It was really uncomfortable for her body to be this weak. If this from before, she could have pierced his heart directly with the Bowie knife. The absence of the Bowie knife that had followed her around for so many years was like a phantom limb. Dorothy found herself reaching out for it many times throughout the course of the fight even though the result was always the same - her injuries were far too great to be able to access it.
The werewolf pretty soon realized that he was no match for her and immediately chose to run away. Dorothy did not want to chase after him. She did not have the strength to catch up to him and her weakened state prevented her from killing him. She wanted to remember this grudge in order to keep her mind sharp when it would come time for her to act again.
Unexpectedly, in the next second, the werewolf's head was lopped off his neck. Jerry retracted his wolf claws with a very cold face. He turned to look down at the blood on his paws with a grossed-out expression and carefully wiped the blood off with a handkerchief from his pocket. After that, he nodded at Dorothy and said, "Alpha Edward sent me to protect you."
Dorothy turned her gaze down to look at the corpse on the ground and compared the strength of the two werewolves in her head. It was obvious that this werewolf was the stronger of the two.
Even though his job description was simply housekeeper, Dorothy could sense that his aura was only slightly weaker than Edward's.
"Is there anything else you’d like to mention?" Dorothy asked. She did not believe that this man’s sole purpose for coming here was to kill this werewolf.
"Oh, and why are you asking that?" Jerry asked with a very rare smile on his face.
Dorothy did not say anything but simply turned to look at this man warily. Maybe she could fight him when she was fully recovered, but there was no way in hell she could beat him now.
Jerry couldn't care less about her silence. He took a few steps closer to her and pulled out a black crystal ball. The black crystal ball slowly became transparent after being exposed to the sunlight, and then it actually reflected Dorothy's appearance.
To say the least, Dorothy was very shocked. Her eyes were firmly fixated on the crystal ball. In the next second, her eyes lost all vigor and she slumped to the ground.
Jerry caught her before her body could touch the ground and sighed. "Hope these two kids can work things out."
When Dorothy opened her eyes again, she found herself in a pitch-dark world where she could make out nothing of her surroundings. Only one bright star shone from the sky and she was left with no other choice but to walk in the direction of that star.
The closer she got, the bigger the star became. Eventually, the shape of the star changed and became the back of a black wolf.
Even in the darkness, Dorothy could feel a sadness emanating from the black wolf and this emotion happened to leave her at a loss for words. Her eyes slowly began to change, turning into purple eyes with golden flecks, shining wildly in the darkness.
The black wolf noticed her transformation and turned his head around slowly.
