The haunting of hollow house
### Chapter 1: The Inheritance
Emily Scott had always felt a void in her life. Orphaned at a young age, she had been raised by distant relatives who never spoke of her parents or her mysterious grandfather, Samuel Scott. When she received the letter informing her of Samuel’s passing and her inheritance of Hollow House, she saw it as an opportunity to connect with her roots and escape the monotony of her life in the city.
The drive to Ravenswood was long and winding, with the dense forest pressing in on either side. As Emily approached the town, the air seemed to grow colder, the trees taller and darker. Hollow House stood on a hill overlooking the town, its imposing silhouette stark against the dusky sky. It was a grand, Gothic mansion, with tall, narrow windows and an air of neglect.
Emily’s first sight of the house sent a shiver down her spine. The mansion was a relic of a bygone era, with ivy crawling up its stone walls and broken shutters hanging from the windows. The front yard was overgrown, the gate creaking ominously as she pushed it open. She couldn’t shake the feeling that the house was watching her, waiting for her to step inside.
