Chapter 1 I Agree to Divorce
The night was dark.
A bolt of lightning landed over the city, the sky lit up suddenly, and accompanied by the roar of thunder, bean-sized raindrops crackled on the window like bullets, and a moment later, darkness engulfed the city again.
After zero o'clock, Annie Brown sat at the table, watching the carefully prepared meals on the table cool down a little bit, and a heart full of anticipation also cooled down.
Yesterday was her birthday and also the third anniversary of her marriage with Benjamin Cain. He had just promised during the day that he would come back to accompany her tonight, but he broke his promise.
On the table were dishes prepared by her, all of which he loved. Annie Brown wiped away her tears and got up to clean up.
She comforted herself that Benjamin was just too busy with work, so he didn't come back these days.
At this moment, there was a sound from the entrance.
Annie Brown's eyes lit up, and she quickly put down the bowls and chopsticks in her hand and greeted her, "Benjamin, you're back!"
Benjamin Cain walked in, and the perfectly tailored handmade suit set off his noble temperament and handsome appearance.
He glanced at Annie Brown, and went straight to the table and sat down.
"The dish is cold, I'll warm it up for you." She walked over and said carefully.
"No, I've already eaten." Benjamin Cain raised his eyes, his black pupils were like an abyss.
He sat there with his long legs crossed, his posture was lazy yet noble, his whole body exuded a coldness that refused to be thousands of miles away, "Come and sit down!"
Annie Brown's heart trembled, she didn't understand what Benjamin Cain was going to do, but she obediently sat down across from him.
From the outside world, Benjamin Cain, president of Cain Group, is still the most popular golden bachelor in Oakland, but no one knows that Benjamin Cain got married three years ago.
For three years, Annie Brown had carefully concealed his liking, and this was the first time that Annie Brown sat face to face with him like this.
Seeing that handsome and perfect face, Annie Brown's heartbeat couldn't help speeding up. Even though they had been married for three years, she still couldn't help but feel her heart beat every time she saw him.
"You don't have to be nervous!"
Benjamin Cain showed rare patience, took out a document from the black briefcase and put it on the table: "Look at this."
Annie Brown reached out to take the document in her hand, and when she saw the big words "divorce agreement", her hands trembled violently.
"Charlie and I have already decided on our wedding dress."
Benjamin Cain's words pierced into Annie Brown's heart like an ice pick. Annie Brown pinched the flesh of her palm fiercely to hold back her tears.
"Is she back?" Annie Brown asked.
She, Charlie Diaz, the woman Benjamin Cain really liked.
Three years ago, Charlie Diaz fell in love with Benjamin Cain, but he couldn't enter the Cain family because he couldn't have children.
Annie Brown also met Benjamin Cain at that time. At that time, my father had already had other women outside, leaving behind my mother who was suffering from cancer and ran away.
In order to cure her mother's illness, she made a deal with Benjamin Cain, she needed money, and he needed someone who would give birth to his dreamed girl instead...
For so many years, he has never been tempted by her, but she has fallen in love with him.
In this transaction, whoever is tempted first will lose.
Annie Brown can lose, but she can't be without dignity. She lowered her eyes, pinched her palms fiercely, and said in a low voice, "I agree to divorce."
Benjamin Cain obviously didn't expect her to agree so soon, he said a little impatiently: "Sit down and have a look, and then sign after reading."
Annie Brown sat down silently and carefully read the agreement.
Annie Brown looked up at him when she saw the words "Bridgeland is owned by the woman".
He was also looking at her: "if you have other requirements, just ask me."
"there is none left."
Annie Brown quickly looked away, took out a pen, signed her name a few times, and handed it to him: "I signed it."
She still lowered her head, not daring to look at him.
Benjamin Cain took it and held it in his hand, staring at her.
She looks like a frightened bunny, is he that scary? Why are you so nervous every time in front of him?
"Can I go?" Annie Brown could feel his gaze, and immediately felt like sitting on pins and needles, asking for his opinion.
Benjamin Cain didn't answer her, but said suddenly: "Charlie has had a physical examination, and she is recovering well."
Annie Brown felt pain in her heart when she heard that.
recovering well?
Is it possible to get pregnant?
"fair enough."
Annie Brown was afraid that he would see something, so she paused for a few seconds, and then said: "I'll go back to my room to pack my things, and I'll move out tomorrow."
Seeing her signing so decisively, Benjamin Cain felt annoyed for no reason, his thick eyebrows huddled together, and he said in a cold voice: "You can stay here for a few more days..."
"No need." Annie Brown interrupted loudly, "I can go to the company dormitory."
His sudden concern made Annie Brown's breathing disorder, but she was even more afraid of staying here, watching him and Charlie Diaz love each other, her heart hurt even more.
When she lifted her foot to leave, she looked back at him, "Thank you for saving my mother back then."
Watching the back of Annie Brown leaving, Benjamin Cain loosened his tie upset.
He thought the divorce would take some effort, but seeing Annie Brown sign it so easily, he became more and more irritable.
