“She……. She is really kidnapped. Hector hired someone to teach her a lesson be… because she refused to s…. serve them food and wine during his birthday banquet.” William reported in a low and fearful voice, looking at Arthur’s broad back cautiously.
The coldness in Arthur’s dark amber eyes dropped to a few more degrees, but the corner of his mouth tugged in a cold and brutal smirk.
So, they wanted his fiancée to be their servant, huh?
It seemed that they had grown bold because they thought that Arthur wouldn’t pay attention to their antics.
“Find her, William. Bring her back.” he ordered coldly, his phone spinning in his hand.
Deep down in his heart, he had a hunch that this incident wasn’t as simple as it was on the surface.
William sprinted out of the room in a heartbeat.
The smirk on Arthur’s lips scared him the most. He knew Hunter and others were in deep trouble, but they brought this upon themselves.
On the other side, the clouds were dense over the river, pouring water as if there would be no tomorrow for them.
The river raged like an enraged beast, ready to tear down whoever came its way. The currents bounced up and down as if they wanted to break all the shackles and engulf everything.
Suddenly, a head cut through the waves and surfaced with a face following it, and then a hand also cut through the waves.
Skye gasped aloud, opening her mouth in the process to get some air into her body, but the currents forced her back inside the water, pulling her small frame into the depths again.
The water refused to let go of Skye out of its violent embrace.
The currents twisted her body as if she were nothing but a fragile leaf caught in a storm.
Her body was thrashed harshly by the waves, giving her new injuries whenever she thrashed against rocks or water plants inside the river.
The coldness of water burned against her skin, seeping into her bones.
The drug in her system dulled her senses, slowed her reactions, and blurred the fragile line between consciousness and oblivion.
Her limbs felt impossibly heavy, as though chains had been wrapped around them, dragging her further into the depths, but Skye refused to give up at any cost.
She promised Mora that she wouldn’t give up at any cost, and against all the odds, she was determined not to let Mora lose her life tonight because Skye wasn’t strong enough to keep her promise to her wolf.
How can she give up when her enemies and those who have treated her like trash all her life are still alive and living happily?
“Mora.” She called her wolf with the last bit of her strength as the water filled her mouth, nostrils, and her food pipe.
Mora growled aloud with her last strength before Skye’s hand was also forced inside the currents.
The storm raging around calmed down immediately as if it hadn’t been there a few seconds before.
The river calmed down like a docile pet.
Skye pushed her body out of the water again and gasped aloud as soon as her face got out of the water.
She stopped struggling too, but kept her legs moving to keep her face and shoulders above the surface.
The water inside her food pipe and nostrils made her choke a few times. She coughed hard while trying to breathe.
The dark sky filled with dark clouds suddenly cleared, and stars started twinkling above Skye’s head.
“Hahahahahahahahahahaha.” Sky laughed aloud bitterly.
She, Skye Ashborn, possessed so many abilities, and controlling nature was one of them.
She was powerful enough to make the world bow to her.
Yet, she had to hide herself behind her muteness and weak appearance.
“You must not use your powers before you meet your fated mate, Skye. Promise me that you will not let anyone learn a bit about your abilities. You will keep yourself hidden until your mate arrives.”
This was the second promise that she gave to her dying mother.
She remembered because her biological mother did something for her to have this memory at the back of her mind.
“Let’s get out, Skye. I am tired,” Mora urged in a weak voice.
Skye took a few shallow breaths before swimming towards the shore.
The responses of her father and her fiancée were still ringing in her ears, strengthening her resolve to go back and punish them.
So what if her mother took a promise of not revealing her abilities?
So what if her mother did something to suppress her abilities until her fated mate meet her?
Her mother never asked her not to use her abilities to protect her.
And now, Skye knew what to do with her enemies and against the people who betrayed her.
She dragged her battered and wounded body outside the water and fell on her back when she had no strength left inside her.
Her ankles were still inside the water, but she wasn’t bothered by that.
The moon was now shining brightly in the sky, and she locked her gaze on it.
“Don’t hold me accountable for what I am going to do to them, mother. I have had enough of their torture. Now it’s their turn to pay for what they did to me.” She whispered to her dying mother as if she were listening to Skye.
She smiled weakly when a helicopter’s shrill voice shattered the silence of the surrounding night.
She didn’t think a word again and let sleep engulf her consciousness.
William was restless while searching the riverbank for a fragile and small figure lying anywhere on the bank.
He was told that Skye jumped off the cliff to save herself from the rogues who kidnapped her.
He didn’t know how he was going to tell Alpha Arthur about this, but he knew very well that he needed Skye alive, or else this night would be the end of his life too.
As the beta of the pack, the security of the future Luna was his responsibility, and yet he failed miserably.
His emerald eyes were widened to the fullest so that he wouldn’t miss a single thing there.
His heart almost leaped out of his mouth when he noticed something like a human body lying half-submerged in the water.
“Fu*k.” he cursed, and ordered the pilot to lower the helicopter with a furiously beating heart.
“Please be Skye. Please, for my life’s sake, be Skye and alive,” he muttered in his heart, locking that figure lying on the ground.
He jumped off the helicopter when the distance was favorable to him.
“Skye….. Skye.” He screamed at the top of his lungs in panic while running towards the body.
The body jerked lightly but didn’t make any further move.
He fell on his knees beside the body and gently flipped it so that he could see the face.
He wiped the mud from the face to determine if it was Skye or not.
So, he couldn’t say if the person was Skye or not.
“Oh, Goddess!” he exclaimed aloud in relief when he saw her face.
It was still covered in bruises and a few deep cuts, but her scent hit his nostrils like a storm.
It was faint yet strong enough for him to recognize the person.
He immediately put his finger under her nose and exhaled in relief.
She was breathing very shallowly, but she was alive.
He didn't waste another second and immediately slipped his hand under her neck and knees and pulled her up into his embrace in bridal style.
He froze for a few seconds when he registered all the injuries on her body. Even her clothes were torn.
A warrior came forward and covered Skye’s almost naked body with his shirt to save the dignity of their Luna.
"Seal the whole forest, and don't let a single soul, not even a bird, get out of the forest unnoticed." William barked his orders while running towards the helicopter.
"Examine her. See if her wolf can heal her or not," he barked at the doctor inside the helicopter.
The doctor bobbed her head immediately in fear and gestured to William to put Skye's body on a clean sheet.
The doctor, a young she-wolf, leaned her face towards Skye's face and sniffed.
"B.... beta William." She called William fearfully.
