I search his eyes slowly. Instead of the anger I had seen earlier, his look is replaced with something different. His tone is the only confirmation I need to know that he isn't doing all this to keep me grounded. He is doing it for himself.
I place my hand on his and bring it down slowly. I know he is harboring worry and fear. What I don't know is what it is about. I bring my hand to his face and rub gently along his jawline. He closes his eyes and sighs heavily leaning into my hand.
"What really happened?" I ask again. "What did she say to you?"
