Rise of the Dragon Princess

CHAPTER 2

~ROMAN~

I walk into the school hall following a sudden urge to be there. Normally I never join the rest of the A-level students for lunch which is why they all go silent the moment I walk in. I prefer dining in my private quarters, a privilege I have because I am the most powerful supernatural in the school, the school president, and the director's son.

As I look around the hall, I see her. My father had told me about the new student. She is supposed to be human but something about her just feels different. At first, it is her silver hair that catches my attention before she stares at me boldly even though everyone else doesn't dare to look at me. I know I'm intimidating and I love the effect I have on everyone which is why, I'm not surprised that I'm a little bruised by this human's insubordination.

I walk towards her and stop in front of her. Her eyes are bold and expressive. I can swear the gaze alone sends shivers of excitement through me. It takes me only a few seconds to realize why. It's my wolf, Gray. He shifts comfortably warming my insides as I stare down at her.

"Mate!" The word reverberates through my mind and I swallow hard.

"Aren't you going to say something insulting to gratify yourself while everyone laughs at me?" she asks boldly. "I know that's how it works with guys like you."

"What?" I utter in confusion.

Guys like me? I wonder inwardly but my gaze is lost on her. She is beautiful. Her eyes are like a blazing fire, intimidating and bold, too bold for what I have always thought my mate would be like. But she has my heart now hanging on strings. I love being in command but this girl's confidence is beyond me. I'm bruised but excited at the same time.

Soon, she will know who I am. But for now I can't keep standing there silently giving room for the other students to think that anyone can talk back at me like that.

"Get out of my way, human!" I command rudely and watch as the light within her eyes fades slowly.

Right then, I feel an ache within me pulling at my strength. Damn Gray! I can't bear saying anything mean to her again. I watch as Sage, the leader of the witches pulls her away.

"Are you okay, Ro?"

My beta and best friend, Tucker asks through the mind link.

"Yeah, never been better." I respond right away.

I can't have anyone thinking that I was losing my power to a mere human. Deep down I can feel her voice antagonizing me, her icy grey eyes getting under my skin. Who is she? I can't recall a time my father had admitted a human to the school. She is the first one which is why I make up my mind to find out. I need to pursue her and understand how I ended up with a human mate.

Several hours later, I walk towards my father's office. The day's classes are over and most students are either in their dorms or in the field playing. The girls' hostels are nearest to the administration offices. I stare at the entrance gate for a moment contemplating whether to sneak in or just go talk to my father. I can't fight the urge as once again, a force pulls and lulls me toward the hostels.

I don't know what room she is in but somehow I find it. There's no one in the hallways but I walk inside cautiously. Not that anyone would question what I am doing here. The room is slightly open when I get there. Her scent is all over me and I can't fight it off. All I know is that I want to see her again. I want to look at her and not feel like she is above me in any way and I want to touch her.

She comes into view, sitting on her bed with a book in her hands. She is doodling something on the pages, her focus lost completely on it. I wonder if she can feel my presence. I wonder if she knows who I am to her.

Just as I am looking, she gets up from the bed and starts undressing. Her backside is towards me but the naked form of her perfectly curved body leaves nothing much to the imagination. I swallow hard as warmth seeps through my system. I'm excited and my hands are itching to touch her skin. My eyes roam from the upright shoulders down to her wasp waist and further down to her ass. She is gorgeous! I wonder what the front view is like. I want to see her. All of her and the tiny c***k on the door is not giving me much of a view.

I raise my hand towards the door. Just as I'm about to push it open, it slams closed taking me by surprise. I jump and step back. Did she do that?

"Creep!"

A voice behind me startles me. I turn around sharply and find Commander Alistair leaning against a wall looking at me. She grins.

"Were you really going to walk in on an innocent unaware human just to look at her nakedness?"

My face flushes with embarrassment. I can't bring myself to look at her. She is the only person in the whole school that I can't have an upper hand on.

"When did you get back?"

"Just now in time to stop you from harassing a powerless human," she states lightly as she walks towards me. Her face changes suddenly as she stops in front of me. "What were you thinking?" she reprimands.

"I don't..." my voice trails off as I try to look for words. "She is different! There's something about her that isn't right for this place!" I blurt out instead.

Alistair frowns at me and crosses her arms on her chest.

"Grow up, Roman!" she responds. "Not every person is a quest for you to prove your dominance or gratify your male ego. This is not how I brought you up!"

I look down as her words pierce through me like a double-edged sword. I'm angry at her but I try to rein it in. I can't even remember the last time I saw her for more than a few hours in a month yet she is always coming at me with her domineering attitude, telling me what to and not do while she isn't even here to run things. I have been in charge of keeping the school and everyone protected while she travels across the globe doing God knows what. Even so, I hold in my anger and accord her respect.

"I'm sorry, Mom," I utter softly and look up to meet her eyes.

"Good boy," she nods. "Now let's go. I have a job for you that doesn't involve you ogling naked girls like a creep."

I want to tell her that the girl is my mate but I stop myself. She might be my mother but we don't have such a personal relationship.
