Her biggest weakness is spending money without planning. 👨 Supporting Characters Daniel Santos – Mia's practical and patient husband. Lia Santos – Their cheerful daughter who loves school and dreams of becoming a teacher someday. She becomes one of Mia's biggest reasons for learning how to manage money. Aling Rosa – Mia's mother, a wise woman who often reminds her daughter that money should be treated as a tool, not something to show off. Carla Reyes – Mia's close friend. She loves shopping and eating out, and sometimes encourages Mia to spend more than she planned. Later, Carla also learns the importance of budgeting. EPISODE 1 — PAYDAY Mia Santos woke up early that morning with a smile. It was payday. After preparing breakfast for her husband, Daniel, and their daughter, Lia, Mia checked her phone. Her salary had finally arrived. ₱15,000. She smiled. “Finally,” she whispered. For weeks, Mia had been waiting for this day. She already had plans. She wanted to buy new clothes, order food for the family, buy snacks for Lia, and perhaps purchase a new bag she had seen online. Daniel entered the room. “Salary day?” Mia nodded happily. “Yes!” Daniel smiled. “That's good. Just remember the bills.” Mia laughed. “I know. I know.” But secretly, Mia thought, There will still be plenty left. That afternoon, Mia went shopping. She bought clothes worth ₱1,200. Then she ordered food for ₱650. She bought Lia some school supplies for ₱500. At the mall, she saw a beautiful bag. She hesitated. It cost ₱1,800. “Maybe I deserve this,” she whispered. She bought it. By evening, Mia still felt happy. She didn't realize that she had already spent more than she had planned. EPISODE 2 — WHERE DID THE MONEY GO? Five days later, Mia opened her wallet. She froze. Only a few bills remained. “Daniel…” “Yes?” “Did you see my wallet?” Daniel looked at her. “You're holding it.” Mia looked down. She laughed nervously. “Oh.” Daniel smiled, but he noticed her worried expression. “How much do you have left?” Mia counted. ₱2,350. She still had more than two weeks before her next payday. Mia became quiet. “What happened?” Daniel asked. “I don't know.” Daniel gently answered, “That's exactly the problem.” Mia looked at him. “You don't know where your money went.” His words stayed in her mind. That night, Mia couldn't sleep. She remembered every purchase. The clothes. The restaurant. The snacks. The bag. The small online purchases she had forgotten about. She finally realized something. Her money hadn't disappeared. She had spent it without a plan. EPISODE 3 — THE NOTEBOOK The following morning, Mia found an old notebook. She wrote on the first page: MY MONEY PLAN Under it, she wrote: Income: ₱15,000 Then she listed everything she normally paid for. Food: ₱4,000 Electricity and water: ₱1,500 Transportation: ₱1,500 School and family needs: ₱1,500 Total: ₱8,500 Mia stared at the numbers. She still had ₱6,500. Instead of spending it all, she decided to create a plan. Savings: ₱1,500 Emergency fund: ₱1,000 Personal wants: ₱2,000 Remaining money: ₱2,000 She showed Daniel. He smiled. “That's a good start.” “But what if I make mistakes?” “You will,” Daniel said. Mia looked surprised. “You will make mistakes. Everyone does. The important thing is that you learn from them.” Mia smiled. For the first time, she felt that she was in control. EPISODE 4 — NEEDS AND WANTS Mia's first challenge came that weekend. Her friend Carla invited her shopping. “Come on, Mia! There's a sale!” Mia smiled. She wanted to go. But she remembered her notebook. She checked her budget. Her personal spending money was limited. Carla showed her a beautiful dress. “Look! It's only ₱1,500!” Mia touched the fabric. She loved it. But she asked herself: Do I need this, or do I simply want it? She slowly put it back. “I'll pass.” Carla looked surprised. “Since when did you become so serious about money?” Mia laughed. “I'm trying something new.” “What?” “I'm learning to tell the difference between what I need and what I want.” Carla shook her head. “You've changed.” Mia smiled. “Maybe I needed to.” That evening, Mia returned home with most of her budget untouched. For the first time, saying no to something she wanted made her feel proud. EPISODE 5 — THE EMERGENCY A month later, Mia's budgeting routine was becoming easier. She tracked her expenses. She saved money. She avoided unnecessary purchases. Then one evening, Daniel came home looking worried. “Mia, the motorcycle needs repair.” Mia immediately thought about their emergency fund. “How much?” “About ₱1,200.” Mia opened her savings box. She had exactly enough in her emergency fund. She handed Daniel the money. “Use this.” Daniel looked at her. “You're sure?” “Yes.” He smiled. “This is why we save.” Mia suddenly understood. Before she started budgeting, an unexpected expense would have frightened her. Now, she had money set aside for emergencies. That night, Mia looked at her notebook. She wrote: “Saving isn't about being afraid to spend. Saving is about being prepared.” She closed the notebook. But Mia didn't know that a much bigger financial challenge was waiting for her family. And this time, ₱1,000 would not be enough. TO BE CONTINUED…
